Q:   How effective is the placement cell for B.Sc. courses at Fergusson College?

A:
{Source: B.Sc. students & alumni}

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for B.Sc. Courses at Fergusson College

Based on the reviews from students and alumni, here's a summary of the effectiveness of the placement cell for B.Sc. courses at Fergusson College:

* Limited Opportunities: Some students mentioned that the placement cell is not very effective, particularly for the B.Sc. courses. They stated that fewer companies visit the campus compared to other colleges. [Review 12]
* No Dedicated Cell: One student noted that there is no dedicated placement cell for new departments, making it challenging for students to secure placements. [Review 1]
* Few Placements: Another student reported that only about 40% of students got placed in their course, and most students preferred to pursue higher education instead. [Review 14]

However, some positive reviews did mention that the placement cell attempts to arrange internships for students during their undergraduate program, although this might not translate directly to job placements after graduation. [Reviews 11, 16]

Overall, the placement cell at Fergusson College appears to face challenges in securing job placements for B.Sc. students, with limited opportunities and few successful placements. It's essential for students to consider alternative options, such as higher education or self-driven initiatives, to enhance their career prospects.

Recommendations:

1. Improve relationships with potential employers to increase job opportunities for B.Sc. students.
2. Develop targeted strategies to attract more companies interested in hiring students from B.Sc. disciplines.
3. Enhance career counseling services to guide students in exploring alternative paths, such as higher education or entrepreneurship.

By acknowledging these limitations and implementing measures to address them, Fergusson College can potentially improve the effectiveness of its placement cell and better support its students' career aspirations.

B.Sc. in Electronics Science - Batch of 2023

Very satisfied with the course, fees, and the excellent faculty
Placements: Basically, we were a 25-student batch, and 12 of them got placed. The rest chose the higher course from the same college. The highest package was about 4 LPA. The companies like Deloitte came for placement. Even 6 of our batchmates got internships in some electronic companies with paid internships.
Infrastructure: They have separate hostels for boys and girls, and it's on the campus. The 2-3 mess has excellent facilities. You don't have to walk more to reach the hostel from the college. It’s also nearest to the library. The library is huge and open till 12 p.m. and 8 o’clock in the morning.
Faculty: Awesome faculty covers the whole syllabus on time, solves the problems of students, and even helps in many ways. Katti mam and Jhambre sir are so helpful; they give time to those students who are preparing for competitive exams. I cleared my Air Force exam in between, of course, because of the support of these teachers.
Other: If you are preparing for government exams and want to do BSc, then electronic science is the best option because you get enough time and teachers’ support for studies.

Fergusson College life at campus .
Placements: 49 out of 70 students were placed last year. The highest package is 14 Lacs. The lowest package is 2 Lacs. The average package is 6.7 Lacs. Top recruiters are Biocon, Accenture, and ICAR. Most of the students got internship in third year of their undergrad in above-mentioned companies. Roles like biotechnology engineer and recruiter are offered.
Infrastructure: Facilities like libraries, big classrooms, computer laboratories, hostels for both genders with adequate space, a botanical garden, parking, 3 canteens, an amphitheater, a close amphitheater along with an open amphitheater, all types of laboratories, tennis clubs, badminton courts, and all types of playgrounds are there.
Faculty: Teachers are extremely helpful, creative, supportive, and well educated; almost everyone is a Ph.D. holder in their respective subjects of interest. Curriculum is NEP 2020 2.0, where there is a slight change in curriculum with more flexibility according to the students studying.
Other: This course have a vast scope in future to inculcate all the types of problems to be solved like climate change, food habits, etc. The best thing about the course is that we can have huge respect and lots of option in every industry. The laboratory skills should be more tough rather than basic. Dozens of events, campus crowds are huge, connectivity is good for social activities, and scholarships for EWS students are still provided according to their needs.

Fergusson college a nature loving campus great opportunities and building connections.
Placements: Placements are good, it's between 3 lacs to 9 Lacs but students opt for higher studies. Like M.Sc. or internships in quantum computing, etc. The top recruiting company is Wipro. Internships are individually done or through assistance from professors mainly through linkdin.
Infrastructure: Nature-loving campus, a British colonial building and superb atmosphere. Lab classrooms are ventilated and are spacious. The Campus has more open land. Hostels are good but people prefer PGs near the college. There are 3 canteens one of them is super good and others are average.
Faculty: Teachers are highly skilled and support the students with projects research and internships, they are very co-operative. Definitely, this makes students industry-ready with great qualities. Semester exams are mediocre tough and average CGPA of our branch is around 8 and above.
Other: I chose this course as I'm highly interested in Physics. Plus it has a developed Astro club which I was an important part of. We do have our department fest named Gravity. And some cultural and sports fest like Spandan and Josh. To improve my course, I should say adding more depth in Bachelors.

Home to education Fc Pune. Very good college.
Placements: Based on B.Sc., very few students are placed, but if we do M.Sc., then the chances of placements are very good. Out of 25 students, 15 are placed. The highest package till now is 9 Lacs per annum. The average package here is 5-6 Lacs per annum. Recruiting companies like TCS, NCl, IISER. Internship of various industries. Roles offered such as lab technician, assistant professor, etc.
Infrastructure: Class infrastructure is all best old ancient buildings with e-learning classrooms. The library is well-equipped with all kinds of books. Computer labs are also there. The hostel is very good, mess food is good, canteen is also very good, sports and games also have a special center so everything is above expectations.
Faculty: Qualified teachers with Masters in their subject and with a lot of experience. The course curriculum is very relevant as expected for competitive exams like JAM. Semester exams are of moderate level, pass percentage is above 60 percent. Very good examination as strict examination making students study everything.
Other: My batch was of 90 students. Chemistry was my dream as it fascinated me and pursued my dream as an assistant professor. Improvement like less tight schedule, more games, more activities, more visits. The campus is very good, year departmental festival very good, scholarships like Maha DBT inspire Gokhale and various. Extracurricular activities like visits of research persons, IAS offices, stars, etc.

The college has great infrastructure and placements with a peaceful environment.
Placements: Only 20% of students in B.Sc. are placed. 3 lacs per annum to 5 lacs per annum are the highest packages offered. Companies like Trio Motion and other tech and machine-building companies visit. The college offers internships in various sectors and provides good job opportunities.
Infrastructure: Classrooms and labs are well-equipped. And mess is not provided in college. You will find great facilities for games and sports like cricket, volleyball, tennis and basketball. There is no Wi-Fi for students. The library has every facility a student can imagine.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and knowledgeable. The students are ready for industry through this course. When talking about semester exams, they are quite hard and the passing percentage is 40% for every course and each subject but if you want good placement, then you should be good at the curriculum.
Other: This course provides brief knowledge of electronics and industry. You will get scholarships; fests are amazing and a learning environment is provided.
