College made me prepared to face the competitive world.
Placements: 65% of students were placed in my course. The highest package is 12 lacs, the lowest is 4 lacs, and the avarage is 6 lacs per annum. Many accounting and marketing companies are recruiting college students. 65% of students got internships in accounting and marketing companies. CA auditor, income tax officer, etc. are the top roles offered.
Infrastructure: Our college is situated in a very peaceful environment. We get free Wi-Fi on our campus. We have separate libraries and computer labs. And have 6 sections of each batch. 2 sections for the morning batch. And 4 sections for the day batch. Our college doesn't have any personal hostels. But the university has.
Faculty: Our college has top-level, qualified professors. The teaching level is so good and easy to understand. They give us notes on every subject. Because of the teachers, we get so prepared that the semester exam is normal. There is not much pressure. 80% above students get passed .

    Best college with bad infrastructure.
Placements: Getting admission into Goenka College of Commerce is quite difficult as the cutoff is quite high for general students; it is always above 90% for OBC and SC ST; it is above 80%. But students may get a chance into the college in other rounds, such as moped round, phase to round, etc. Most of my seniors didn't get placement from the college itself; only a few students got placed in big companies where the average package is around 400000 to 8 lakh rupees. As per information from the college in previous years, big companies like branches of Tata , Deloitte, etc. have recruited students from Goenka. But personally, I don't know a single student who got placed in these companies. As per my seniors, most of the students themselves do not go for internships, as most of the students studying in Goenka are preparing for professional degrees like CA or CS , and the majority go for MBAs. Getting a job after B.com. is quite difficult. Roles that are offered are of accountants or in any financial department.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of Goenka College is very small; it is only a five-story building with very little capacity There are two common rooms where students can chill out and play carrom and table tennis, lift is available in the college for both teachers and students. Wi-Fi is not provided, some classes have good-quality benches; every class has a white board and a greenboard along with a projector, there is no proper canteen; but Nescafe cafe outlet is there within the campus. Goenka has no hostel facilities students coming from another state or city mostly leave in PGs or flats, which you can find in nearby areas such as Girish Park, Bhawanipur. The metro station is within 5 minutes walking distance and the bus stop is 50 m from the college campus.
Faculty: No doubt Goenka College faculty is one of the best, strongest and most qualified among all the colleges under Calcutta University. Many of the professors are record holders as well as state topper, district topper, etc. Yes, the course curriculum is very relevant and quite interesting, too. They have recently added entrepreneurship development from semester 1, which most of the students find very interesting. Many projects, group discussions, and extracurricular activities related to the subject are conducted by the teachers, which are very helpful. As per my knowledge and from my senior experience, the most difficult semesters are the odd number semesters, which are semester numbers 1, 3, 5, and 7. Major papers are conducted in another college and the tests of minor papers are taken within the college and a check within the college.
Other: I choose Goenka College of Commerce as it is the top college for b.com. honors and it is a dream college of thousands of students and it is quite difficult to get into this college as the cutoff remains quite high every time . The best thing about this course is that it provides a research degree along with your BCom honours in accounting and finance, which no other college provides. I wish the campus was better and the attendance criteria was not so strict as most of the students studying here are studying for some other professional degrees. Also, it becomes quite difficult to maintain the 75% attendance criteria. There are many events first conducted on campus; there is a freshmen party, a quest, carnivals are organized, many other DJ nights are organized, and small functions such as teachers day, etc. are also celebrated.

Review of Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration.
Placements: Very few companies visit our college for campus recruitment and only the cream layer gets recruited. Being in Kolkata, the package is not very extravagant; the median package lies somewhere between 1.8 and 3 LPA. Overall, a substantial number of students don't opt for campus recruitment .
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is severely lacking: dilapidated buildings, run-down architecture, lack of proper sanitation in toilets and the list goes on. It isn't as bad as the rest of the government colleges but it's not something to be proud of. But then again, it is justified looking at the fees.
Faculty: The professors here are decent; some of them are knowledgeable in their fields. However, a major problem with them is that they are too lazy and not punctual. At times, it's so frustrating. For example, out of the 4 classes, you will be lucky to attend 3 of them. The condition is so bad that the professors are absent most of the time without any prior notice, wasting the time of the students .
Other: The college fails to live up to its reputation. If you're interested in taking admission in this college, then please consider your choices appropriate; otherwise, it would be too late to turn back. The fee here is fairly cheap, which is a plus; however, other than that, there's no attractive proposition.

Value for money and time efficient.
Placements: Top recruiting companies like Deloitte, Tata Consultancy, EY, etc., offer campus placements. The highest package was 7 LPA, the lowest package was 3 LPA, and the average package is 4-5 LPA. Almost 60-65% of students get recruited from campus placements, with accountant roles provided.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is pretty good for a West Bengal government college. It is the best government college. There is a canteen and common rooms with a games arena. A lift facility is also provided. Digital classrooms, computer labs, and a well-equipped library are available.
Faculty: The teachers are pretty supportive. Most of them are really good at what they do. The course curriculum is very relevant, and the students become industry-ready by the end of the course. The semester exams are easy to crack, with a passing percentage of 95%.
Other: For commerce students pursuing graduation, this is one of the best courses. It is very easy to finish the course with just a little effort, which provides you with time to devote toward professional courses. The college organizes a variety of events and fests and provides various scholarship programs. Overall, the campus life is pretty average.

I am absolutely satisfied with the tag of being a Goenkan.
Placements: I am in my first year but according to our seniors and teachers almost 80% students get placed every year with a median package of 3-4 LPA. The highest package of last year was 5 LPA. GCCBA was among the top colleges of Kolkata having students recruited from BCom and other professional courses like C.A., C.S., C.MA, Actuary, etc. The main recruiters are the Big 4 companies and other mid size firms. Last year, 30 students got an internship from the big 4 with a stipend of 8k per month. The job roles offered are that of accountant, etc.
Infrastructure: Our college is the only commerce government specialised college in the whole of Kolkata. It has a large students room along with two rooms having table tennis and carrom boards to play. The library has almost 5000 books for all the disciplines. The classrooms are very big, spacious and airy having blackboards and projectors. They are not air conditioned.
Faculty: The teachers in this college are the best in the entire state. They are well qualified for their roles. They are very helpful regardless of the students being Bengali or not. They can teach in both Bengali and English and some are well versed in Hindi too. The course is designed to give a in-depth knowledge of the industry for the role of a junior accountant. As per the teachers, every year almost 20% students got supplementary in their exams, and this year, the figure can cross 50% due to maths and economics being in the course.
Other: I chose B.Com Hons in this college because it is one of the main colleges in the entire West Bengal. I would recommend the Dean to shift from our old syllabus of the course to a new one. I chose this college as I thought it would help me in my C.S. course but the opposite has happened. Due to its strict attendance, I have to attend regular classes a which is affecting my CS study schedule. Our college has a freshers event, cultural fest, etc.

Honest review of Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration .
Placements: My sister just passed out a year ago from this college and they had only one company for hiring, which selected none of the students. That's the condition of this college. This year, it has organized placement for the 6th semester. And companies like Big 4, Deloitte, KPMG and PWC come for hiring.
Infrastructure: It has two buildings, 5 floors, and 2 lifts, one for teachers and one for students. That's the only relief in college life. The infrastructure is quite good and there are well-conditioned classrooms that are cooler than the surroundings. It has no ACs. The campus is too small; the place is situated in a very busy area of Bowbazaar, but the classrooms are quite nice.
Faculty: To be honest, the teaching faculty is not that bad; they do cover syllabus of the course enrolled. But there is no creative means of teaching. You might see smart boards and speakers all over the classroom but they don't use any of them. Every teacher has their own way of teaching. Academically, everyone here is quite strong, not because the teaching faculty is good but because of high cutoffs, self-study, and professional courses pursued, such as CA, CS, CMA, and CFA. I am saying so because most of the classes are cancelled at the last minute and if you are not coming to classes, you get your name on the attendance defaulters' list. For entry, you would need to be above 95% to even be considered on the list for general and SC, ST, and OBC can get admitted at 85%.
Other: Goenka is a brand name; this has been rumored all over Kolkata. But the truth is completely opposite; it has nothing special about it and the placements are not good. The college premises and campus are just too small. The campus can't even occupy 200 students at once. Though the classrooms are quite big and occupy the number of students allotted to that class,. In terms of cleanliness, I would rate this college 1/5 because the washrooms are dirty as well as the surroundings. There's no campus so there's no campus life, but there has been a cafeteria opening so you can have tea and coffee there, or just step out of the college and get sandwiches and kachori stalls. Honesty, there's no crowd; the college does have a fest named Quest, which is okay but not that great; and a freshers party too, which is a plus point.
