Good college with good faculty.
Placements: Small college compared to other GECs. Very good faculty members. Good facilities for mechanical engineering compared to other branches. All passed mechanical engineering students got placement last year. L&T is the top recruiter. The college does not have a men's hostel.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good for mechanical engineering. Computer Science and Design have bad infrastructure as it is a newly introduced course to the college. Limited sports facilities. The central library and department library are present. Have canteen with good food. The college only has a ladies' hostel.
Faculty: Very good, sincere teachers who are qualified and knowledgeable. The college is under KTU and follows the new 2024 KTU curriculum. The new syllabus is good and makes the students industry-ready. The semester exam is moderate. The pass percentage is very low for mechanical engineering.
Other: I am a student of mechanical engineering. Mechanical engineering has good facilities compared to other branches in this college. The college conducts workshops, and small fests, and has good clubs.

Great college and good facilities
Placements: The college offers decent on-campus placement opportunities, with a minimum of 40% of students getting placed each year. The highest package is 6.5 LPA. Our college has a dedicated team for placement assistance, and companies start coming in from the 7th semester onwards, with most being from the IT sector.
Infrastructure: The college is spread over less than 10 acres, but we have all the necessary facilities on campus. There are good classrooms, well-equipped labs with excellent staff, Wi-Fi in the computer labs, sports facilities, and a canteen that is affordable and offers good food.
Faculty: All the faculty have extensive teaching experience and are very supportive. The college is affiliated with KTU. However, the semester exams and evaluations are poor, with no fixed academic calendar and limited vacation time. The Applied Electronics and Instrumentation course is also not common.
Other: My college has two main events: Lakshya, a tech fest, and Drishya, a cultural festival. Many other events are also organized.

Overall, satisfactory experience.
Placements: At Government Engineering College Kozhikode (GECK), the M.Tech program in Energy System Analysis and Design (ESAD) has specific details regarding placements and opportunities. The placements rate for M.Tech students varies, but historically, the overall placements rate for the college’s engineering programs is around 85%. The highest package offered goes up to ₹ 10-12 LPA, the average package is approximately ₹ 4-5 LPA and the lowest package offered is around 3 LPA. Approximately 60-70% of the students secure internships, often with colleges like NITC, IIT, and companies like NTPC, ISRO, and private firms in the energy sector. Students from this course have been recruited by prominent companies including Infosys, Wipro, TCS, and various start-ups focused on renewable energy. Graduates from ESAD course typically take on roles such of Energy Analyst, Project Engineer, Research Associate, and Consultant in various sectors.
Infrastructure: The college has well equipped laboratories and classrooms to facilitate practical learning accross various engineering disciplines. However, some students have noted that infrastructure is limited and specific departments lack dedicated spaces. The library is quite extensive housing a vast collection of textbooks, reference books, journals, and e-resources, making valuable resources available for the students. The campus provides WiFi access allowing students to stay connected and conduct research online. The campus includes a medical clinic, a cafeteria, gym, and cooperative store catering various student needs. The college provides hostel facilities primarily for female students. The hostel is reported to offer clean living conditions with hygienic food options in the mess. However, there are mentions of space limitations and recreational facilities. Students generally describe the food quality in the mess and the canteen as good and affordable, contributing positively to the hostel experience. Medical facilities on campus are adequate, with a clinic availability for the students’ health needs. The sports infrastructure is limited with an absence of dedicated grounds, although a synthetic basketball court is available.
Faculty: The faculty members at GECK hold advanced degrees with many having PhDs from reputed institutions like IISc, IITs, NITs. Students have reported that the teachers are knowledgeable and willing to assist then with their studies, fostering an environment conducive to learning. Their teaching quality is generally good, especially in civil and mechanical departments, where the teachers encourage the students to go for competitive exams like GATE. However, some students have pointed out inconsistencies in teaching effectiveness across different faculty members. The curriculum is relevant as it aims to equip students with necessary skills for the industry. It includes practical and theoretical components that prepare the students for real-world applications. There is support for student projects and research, with access to project funds and encouragement for innovative ideas. The semester exams level is of average difficulty with internal assessments also being part of the evaluation. Overall, the pass percentage is around 85%.
