Omandurar Medical College, Chennai, all you need to know.
Placements: There are 100 students in the class. This is a government college so the fee structure is very much affordable. There are so many scholarships available for students, and the internship is mandatory for every student passing the final year exams. There are other courses like MLT and paramedics courses too.
Infrastructure: The classrooms and labs are quite good, but there is no free Wi-Fi available for the students both in college and hostel. The hostels are good, but some issues with rates is the major concern; there will be a monthly â‚ą1500 rental for the mess, and it will be around â‚ą3000 to â‚ą4000 which may vary each month.
Faculty: As this is a government college, the professors are very much qualified and enthusiastic to teach and help. The academics are also good, and we will be conducting certain workshops in the college every year. The exams will be yearly as per scheduled by MGR University, and there will be monthly assessments too; the pass percentage is by NMC guidelines.
Other: I took MBBS to become a doctor as we can serve as well as make money. In this college, there will be yearly cultural and sports events which are the major ones, and also minor events like ethnic day, hostel day, Onam, etc. As this is a government college, scholarships for SC, ST, and economically backward students will also get scholarships.

Absolutely satisfied with faculty members, facilities and good passing percentage of the students.
Placements: I am a third year student. I will pass out from this college in 2026. The students of this college are eligible for working as general practitioners in any hospital. For working in any government hospital, we have to clear UPSE. For getting PG admission, we have to clear NEET PG. About 90 percent of the students are capable of achieving this.
Infrastructure: We have a good library with lots of academic books. The lecture halls are air conditioned. We have a separate lab, demo and library for each department. Hostel is neat and clean. We have both triple and double sharing rooms available with furnitures. Mess is run by the students. The food available here is good and tasty. We have both veg and non veg menu.
Faculty: This is a government college. The faculty members are highly efficient. The curriculum is based on CBME. We have proper assessments and evaluations. We have practical and clinical sessions daily which enhance our skills. We have yearly exams conducted by MGR University. It is moderate to hrd level. The passing percentage is good.
Other: I am a students of 2021 batch. I will pass out from this college in 2026. We will have good opportunities after completing this course. Our college conducts inter-college academic events, culturals, sports and workshops in every subjects. The college is situated at the centre of city which makes it an attraction of the city. We have Eco club, Redcross, and NSS in the college.

The best college in Chennai.
Placements: It is a medical institute so there are no placements. For medical institute, every student who passes all the years, gets a medical degree and further applies for government jobs or in a private hospital as a doctor. The doctors get many options after completing this course.
Infrastructure: The college is good and the infrastructure is also good, but the college campus is a little bit small. The classrooms are good in condition with proper facilities and air conditioning. The hostel is also good and well maintained. They charge separately for the hostel.
Faculty: The professors are very helpful and provide proper information about the topics and subjects. For every 10 students, there is one professor who guides them for their academics. The semester exams conducted by the college are a little hard but you can easily pass. The passing percentage is above 95% in our college.
Other: MBBS is one of the best courses nowadays and it is a dream of every student. In my batch, there are 100 students and it is very less crowded. Our college conducts many events, cultural fest and other extra activities.

Government college with good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: We've just had our first batch pass out and are doing their internship. As of now, we don't know about PG seat placements but the pass percentage is good for every year. The hospital was dedicated for Covid-19 treatment and hence most of the present interns have an experience in epidemic management in addition to the normal hospital proceedings and clinical cases.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is excellent. It is a fully air conditioned college and hospital, the only problem being that if any of the ACs stop working we don't have fans to compensate till the issue is resolved. The equipment and labs are all new and in good condition. The lecture halls are spacious and comfortable. There is a somewhat well stocked libraries sufficient for the present strength of the college which is being constantly updated and improved. Own book reading rooms and internet rooms are also available. The hostel rooms are also new and in good condition. Issues take a while to get addressed but they do get addressed. The mess menu is mostly decided by students and the food is of commendable quality especially for a government college mess. The college also has a canteen attached to the cooperative stores which is open till late evening. We have a sports ground behind the campus which is still being developed and as of now has a proper basketball court and has facilities for badminton, throw ball and futsal among others with promises of future improvement.
Faculty: The professors are all highly qualified with experience working in top colleges including M.M.C. The teaching quality is also top notch. Like any medical college, the clinical experience depends on the interest shown by the students more than anything else but most of the professors do give their best in making sure we don't miss the significant and important cases. We are taught as well as asked to perform all the clinical examinations while taking case histories from the 1st clinical year itself which is a good learning opportunity if you use it well.
Other: We conduct a bunch of extracurricular activities including cultural and sports day as well as hostel day. We conducted our first intercollegiate event last year and we regularly help and cooperate with government sponsored health related programmes and events. We've also been part of CIYF. There are also a bunch of other intra-college events and quizzes.

It is a medical college with good infrastructure, facilities and best faculty members.
Placements: As it is a medical college, placements in government sectors depend on the vacancies, and it's pretty easy to get a job in the private sectors as well. People are studying for NEET or next exam after MBBS to get a PG course. You can also open a clinic in rural places to earn well. MBBS doctors in private can get Rs. 30,000 per month. In the government sector, it is Rs. 50,000 per month. It is better to study for PG entrance and pass to get into some speciality like MD or MS, and you can earn in lacks per month.
Infrastructure: Facilities provided in our college are pretty good than the other medical colleges in the city. The college is completely air-conditioned and working very well, which you can't find in many colleges. Wi-Fi is available for the hostel students. There is a fully air-conditioned library as well as a digital library. We have huge labs. The demo rooms are air-conditioned, and classrooms and lecture halls are bigger and air-conditioned with projectors and mike. The food served in the hostel mess is average. The canteen in the college provides food at a low price with good quality. There is a huge playground with a football court, volleyball, throwback, and basketball courts as well. The hospital is so near, and you can easily go there anytime and easy to go for clinical class and any emergencies. Tuition fees are as set by the government, which is very less than Rs. 10,000 per year. The hostel fees may come up to Rs. 50,000 per year.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are so helpful with all kind of academic doubts as well as any mental problems we face during our exam times. The hostel warden makes sure that students in the hostel, especially the girls, are safer. They help with extra academic works like ICMR projects, inter-college quiz and presentation programs.
Other: We conduct intercollege and intra-college cultural as well as academic events every year. Almost 30 % of the students are involved in extracurricular activities like sports and games.

Very much satisfied with my course and college.
Placements: Once you complete your MBBS there is a lot of branches in which you can pursue your specialisation. Every branch of medicine has got its own importance. And of course you can practice medicine whenever you want after getting your MBBS degree. After four years we have one year of internship for which we will get stipend. And we can really learn a lot of things in the last one year.
Infrastructure: Since my college is a new college, infrastructure is amazing. We have got a full air-conditioned lecture halls, laboratories and a new upcoming hospital. Hostel is also neat and spacious. And everything is within a single campus. It's in the heart of the city. So yes you can enjoy your free time very well. Library is so good. All the recommended books are present and the ambiance is also good. And we have got lawns where we can sit and chit chat with our friends.
Faculty: Teachers basically teach us what is very important. There is a lot of things beyond what the teacher taught us. So it's our work to study. But yes they are very much important in teaching us the clinical skills. Our curriculum is very much related to the day to day life scenario. It's very much planned and if we complete reading our curriculum fully then we are really going to be great.
