B.A. at Gurudas College: Worth the Investment?
Based on the reviews and feedback from current and former students, here's a summary of the key points:
* Infrastructure: The college has a beautiful campus spread over 15 acres, with well-maintained classrooms and facilities. While the infrastructure is good, some classrooms have broken benches and unclear blackboards.
* Faculty: Teachers are generally helpful and knowledgeable, making efforts to simplify complex subjects. However, the quality of education varies depending on individual teachers.
* Course Syllabus: The curriculum covers relevant industrial standards, and semester exams are manageable if students follow classes regularly.
* Placements: Despite having no active placement cell, around 90-95% of students from B.Com and 99% from B.Com (Hons) get placed in college with average salaries ranging from 1-7 LPA. Top recruiters include TCS and Infosys.
* Facilities: The college has a decent canteen, wi-fi connectivity, labs, libraries, and playgrounds. Although some facilities need improvement, overall, the quality of amenities is satisfactory.
* Student-Faculty Ratio: With fewer teachers in the history department, students might require additional support. Nevertheless, teachers are willing to assist students.
* Campus Environment: The college campus is peaceful, eco-friendly, and secure, providing a conducive learning environment.
* Extra-Curricular Activities: Regular events, fests, and annual sports activities add to the college experience.
Considering these points, while Gurudas College faces some limitations, it seems that the BA programme can be a worthwhile investment for those seeking a solid foundation in their field of interest. However, students must be prepared to adapt to occasional infrastructural shortcomings and varying teacher quality.
Rating: (out of 5 stars)
Note: This rating is subjective and based on the collective feedback from students and alumni. It aims to provide a general idea of what to expect from the college.

Just a normal government college, with lots of union members and not so good educational standards.
Placements: Our college has no active placement cell. Neither do the authorities plan for any such cell in future. Some job fair are organised sometimes, where few students get offers from some companies. However, mostly students here do not look for placements and opt for applying jobs on their own or going for higher studies elsewhere.
Infrastructure: Our infrastructure is not so good. Many classes have broken benches and unclear black boards. Often many light or fans malfunction, and it takes months for the authority for repair it. Our college does not have a hostel facility, however we do have a small canteen inside our campus. The food is decent in the canteen.
Faculty: The teachers are to some extends helpful. They do cover the entire syllabus on time, but not in a way that can be understandable by all. The course syllabus is good and relevant to industrial standards. The semester exams are not very difficult if you follow the classes. Our minimum passing percentage is 35%.

It is a good college for students from middle-class families.
Placements: The college is good if you want a graduation degree. The selection was based on the results of the 12th-grade board. If you received more than 60%, you were eligible for honors courses. Our college had no placements. Internships were not provided by the college. You had to find jobs on your own.
Infrastructure: There was no hostel service or Wi-Fi available. The infrastructure for the journalism and mass communication department was full of culture and elegance. The department had the appearance of an art gallery or museum. There was a journalism studio with all the modern technologies like projectors, PCs, high-quality cameras, etc. The campus was very environment-friendly and safe. The campus was well-maintained and clean.
Faculty: This college was good for students who preferred Bengali. Our faculty members were good, friendly, and helpful. Students studying English may face a variety of challenges. There was no course book in English available for journalism. The Bengali students didn't face all these issues. You had to take your notes from the internet, and many topics were not even accessible at times. If you were an honors student, then you had to attempt 15-mark questions. You need to write at least 3 pages, which is the toughest part. Exams were difficult with no proper book or information available. The CU syllabus was vast and complicated.

As a student of Gurudas College, I am much satisfied. It is a student-friendly campus.
Placements: There are 50% of students placed in our course. The highest package is 2.5 LPA and the lowest package is 1 LPA. The top recruiting companies are TCS and Infosys. The percentage of students who got internships from our course is 40%. The roles provided in TC BPE etc.,
Infrastructure: The facilities are good. There is Wi-Fi, labs, and a library, everything is available. And especially the green environment of the college is so good. There is our playground called garudas park. Annual sports are arranged in our college and they encourage us. The fest, freshers, and welcome parties are organized.
Faculty: Teachers are more helpful than you think. They give their best for our study. The semester is quite tough. But the teachers make us confident. That's why I think this has the very helpful faculty we have ever seen anywhere. All are too good. Very lucky to be a part of this college.

Our college is very famous in Kolkata. It is a very good college.
Placements: Placements were not provided directly in any company by our college. If students had completed a course in history from our college, they could have done a master's from any university in the future. Students would get placements in reputed companies on the basis of their own merit. But none of the students in our college would be given a placement in any company directly.
Infrastructure: Our history department was very good. The room in the history department was always very nice and clean. There was a projector in that room, through which we could see many historical pictures and videos. Our college library was huge, and there were a lot of books. We brought our necessary books from there and read them. In the room of the history department, about 50 students could sit together and attend classes.
Faculty: The professors here were very good, and they would write our history notes in a very simple way. The teachers were very helpful to us, and their teaching style was very nice. They could easily explain any difficult subject to us. Our college had two semesters a year, and the history course was of 3 years duration. It was a little difficult to pass the exams because our exams were conducted by Calcutta University. If you get 60%, it would be called first class result.
Other: I have been interested in history since I was a child, so I selected this course. Reading history reveals a lot of ancient things, which I like very much. I think the number of teachers in the history department is a little less. If there were more teachers, the students would benefit a lot. Every year two events were organised in our college, among which one was Nabin Baran, and the other one was farewell reception. Our college fests were huge, and we had a lot of fun at that time. There were lots of trees around the college, and the college environment was very quiet. In summer, college football tournaments were held.

Flim based companies visit our college to recruit students from our course. About 80% of the students from our course got an internship. Many companies visit our college to recruit students.
Infrastructure: Our college provides open Wi-Fi available for students. Many labs and classrooms are available for students. The library is also available for every student. Quality of facilities is available in our hostel. Quality of food served to the students is very good. Medical facilities available in our college are very helpful. Sports facilities are very active in our college.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are very helpful. They help every student, and they treat us like their own child. They are highly qualified and knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is unique and very helpful. They are always ready to help students every time.
Other: Our passing out batch is very good, and they are very knowledgeable and helpful. I have chosen this course because it is very interesting. Fest organised at our college is so good.
