IISER Bhopal BS EECS Review .
Placements: Very few students get placed because most of the students go for either higher studies abroad or in India. The highest package was around 31 Lacs per annum and the average stood around 19 LPA. The top recruiting companies were Nomura Bank, Barclays, and Dr. Reddy's Lab. Most of the roles offered are kind of analyst or scientific roles.
Infrastructure: The first-year hostels are quite good and totally new. Every undergraduate is given double accommodation with another student from their batch only. Single accommodation is given only to Ph.D. students. The infrastructure is quite modern and is good according to the 21st century. The laboratories are amazing and mind-blowing. The canteen food is quite acceptable and sports game facilities are very versatile.
Faculty: The faculty members are very qualified and active researchers in their respective subjects in the country. They have had many publications in their whole career. The course is quite industry-relevant and makes students industry-ready and a good fit for corporate roles and also for research roles. The semester exams are quite standard and one needs to study throughout the semester in order to pass them. Studying one day before the exam, like in engineering colleges, is not the thing here.

A perfect place to build a base for your research career.
Placements: As this is a research institute, IISER Bhopal does not have a significant number of students getting placed into companies from natural sciences. However, there is a good number of Ph.D. placements made from here. Even though students here have taken for granted their place in the industry due to the Indian Institute tag. A significant number of students go to different fields even unrelated to science. But there are not much of many engineering equivalent placements and that is pretty obvious as natural sciences cannot provide students with skills for the industry. This institute offers you an environment for studying and searching solely, mainly.
Infrastructure: There is great Wi-Fi connectivity all over the campus. We have full-fledged labs with proper high-tech equipment. Classrooms are great, as students expect from a college of this domain. The library is good for its size but students may easily feel that the number of books is quite less. But it is still not so less, it is significant. Hostel facilities are great. Every basic need is fulfilled. Hostel rooms are compulsorily shared by only two people. Girls' and boys' hostels are separate. Mess facilities are better than students' expectations. The canteen is decent, not the best but fine. The only problem I face is that everything closes at midnight so students have to keep snacks with them. Medical facilities are available 24X7 with an ambulance on a single call. All major sports facilities are available such as basketball courts, football grounds, lawn tennis courts, volleyball courts, athletics grounds, cricket grounds, table tennis, Taekwondo, badminton courts, etc. Games like chess and football are also available. There are gym facilities, both unisex and female-only
Faculty: Professors are highly qualified. They are the best in India and some of them are the best in the World. They have great knowledge, but some struggle to connect to students or make it engaging. But if students can interest themselves in and listen to every word they say, They understand how meaningful every word they say is. The course curriculum is greatly designed and caters to almost all types of students. There is still scope for improvement in everything but they do work upon it on demand so that works. Semester exams are fine, students do not find anything non-doable if they study properly. I can't say about The pass percentage as it depends on the grading pattern of the professor.
Other: I was always enthusiastic about science and intrigued by the scope of it. I chose this course because it helps me build the base I need to pursue a research career. Fests are great but due to the smaller number of total students compared to the campus size, it can feel quite empty at times. But it can also feel quite crowded at times. Students can avail Inspire Scholarship for this course if they fulfil the eligibility criteria. Extracurricular activities are great, students have an abundance of things to choose from. If there is something new they want to start and have enough people to support it, they just can. IISER Bhopal sits on a little outskirts of the city in Bhouri. It is on the side of a Highways. There is a marketplace known as a shopping complex with all basic requirements being fulfilled. It has groceries, pure fruits or fruit juices or shakes, banks, ATMs, gift shops, sports shops, stationery shops, and protein shops.

A developing research institute in Central India for sciences.
Placements: For students of natural sciences, the placement opportunities are quite low as compared to economics and engineering students. However, due to the presence of departments like Maths and Physics, people can get some offers if they possess relevant skills.
Infrastructure: The hostel facilities are excellent if you get H8 or the new hostel being built in front of Ideation. But if you get old hostels like H6 or H7, the infrastructure is not that good. The rooms were originally for single occupancy and were later converted into double occupancies, resulting in less space for you and your roommate.
Faculty: Talking about the Mathematics department of IISERB, it's quite controversial. The department has a good number of faculty members, but the quality may vary. The students opting for a Maths major are very few compared to other departments. Many students, even some good ones, face academic issues after opting for a major in Mathematics. The primary reason is some rude professors and their strict marking system. Backlog students are much more in the Maths department, making it produce fewer graduates each year than other departments.
Other: I chose the course because I am pursuing Science as my career. The best thing about the BSMS program is that students get to know the ground realities of Science, such as how things are discovered or how research is done. One might want to check the details of each faculty member they are interested in pursuing a major with. According to the specialties of the topics one wants to do a thesis in, they can either join IISERB or another institution.

True review of IISER Bhopal
Placements: My batch strength is about 400+. Most of the students don't opt for placements. We mainly go for PhDs, but people from the engineering department go for placements. The average placement package is about 10 LPA. The highest package was 27 LPA in 2022.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good enough. We've got a total of 7 hostels, 1 three-floored library, and unlimited IISERB Wi-Fi. We've got a huge number of labs. We've got nice facilities in the hostels. The mess food is also very nice; sometimes the food quality deteriorates though.
Faculty: Teachers are very highly knowledgeable, and their teaching quality isn't questionable. The professors are so friendly that we can ask doubts anytime to them. The curriculum is relevant and makes students ready for the future. The semester exams are a bit frequent and hard enough.
Other: I chose this course because I always wanted to be a researcher. The best thing about this course is that we get an integrated BS and MS. The campus crowd is a lot, fests occur often, and connectivity with the main Bhopal City is also very good.

A very brief introduction to the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhopal.
Placements: A new placement cell has been established recently. I am from a natural sciences background, so I don't know much about the placements for engineering students at IISER Bhopal. Mostly, they go for PhDs and other paths instead of placements.
Infrastructure: We have a common room, laundry room, vending machines, and Wi-Fi in our hostels. Each room is well-equipped with two study tables, two study lamps, and one almirah. Classrooms and the library are excellent, and the labs are also good enough; you will enjoy doing labs with others.
Faculty: Yes, the professors are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable in their respective scientific fields. However, since science involves many things yet to be discovered, some faculty may not be updated with the current scenario in particular subjects outside of their mainstream research. Semester exams range from medium to tough levels.
Other: Our batch has a total of around 380 students, out of which 270 are in natural sciences, 80 are from the engineering department, and 30 from the economics department. I have a personal interest in the field of biological science. There are around 5-6 events held every year.

B.S. in Earth and Environmental Sciences + M.S. in Earth and Environmental Sciences - Batch of 2026

Really good faculty members, improving infrastructure and more opportunities to research.
Placements: IISER Bhopal is more or less a college that focuses more on research than placements. Placements are very few—nearly less than 10 percent. Since IISER Bhopal is the only IISER offering an engineering degree, a few of them opt for placements, and a very few from natural science go for placements. Others normally choose a Ph.D. and continue with postdoctoral work and research. I guess the packages are often within 30 LPA or more. I am not sure about the minimum offered. As research is one of the most underpaid careers, it's worth noting that annual packages are comparatively low. Almost 90 percent of students get a chance to intern, either paid or unpaid. I am a BSc in Earth and Environment Sciences, which has more opportunities for research as well as jobs abroad or at the at the national level. But some technical skills and programming languages are essential. I'll pass out in 2026, currently in my fourth year.
Infrastructure: We have free Wi-Fi everywhere. With great speed and good connectivity. The classrooms and departments are air-conditioned. We have a library but it cannot hold the total capacity of the students on the campus right now. But except during exam season, not that much rush is experienced. We rely more on online books and pdfs because very few copies of the originals are available. Rooms are double-shared. In the old hostels, rooms were small and built for single sharing but due to increased intake, we do share rooms. Washrooms are regularly cleaned and neat, except for some incidents of students not maintaining them. Food in some messes is great for the PHDs, but in others it is just eatable or average. But it varies according to the person. We do have vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Games and sports facilities are good and improving. We have good coaches and trainers.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and qualified. Teaching quality is good in our department. Labs and TAs are also really good. The curriculum is mostly theoretical; we have to learn skills and programming in addition to being industry-ready. Semester exams are difficult because we do learn a lot in a 4-month semester. Pasa percent varies greatly according to professor and subject but there is a norm that only less than or equal to 30% of students fail. But there are instances where more than this number of students failed. Not everyone will pass; we have to work hard for it according to the relatively toughness of the course. Grading may be abstract or relatively simple. It is all up to the professor, including grading.
Other: I wanted to learn about Atmospheric and Climate Sciences in future so I chose EES as my major. The best things are great professors, good field trips, and the best basic theoretical and practical courses. If more skill- and programming-related things are involved, it would be better. We have an annual cultural festival, Enthuzia, the biggest in the college. Annual sports meet Sangarsh, annual arts and literary fest Called Arts and letters, Science fest Singularity and other cultural festivals of each state. Connectivity is bit difficult as a college is far from town. Scholarships are available like Inspire, etc. But nothing is provided by IISERs other than for SC / St category, where they don't pay tuition fee. There are some grant for students with greater academic background and CGPA. Sports, music club arts club and clubs of each department conduct extracurricular activities .
