Commonly asked questions On Admissions
Q: Which is best course offered at IIT Goa?
IIT Goa offers BTech courses in four branches viz., CSE, EE, ME and MnC. Deciding the best branch among all the branches depends on various factors that are important to candidate. Some of the important point to consider while deciding the best branch of IIT Goa are mentioned-below:
1. Placements Opportunities: The common perception among students is that CSE has good placements among all the branches of Engineering. Before making the decision, it is important to look at the branch-wise placements of that particular college. Same applies to IIT Goa! In 2024, a total of 161 recruiters participated in the placement process and placed 116 students of BTech and MTech in new-age job profiles. The branch-wise placement details of IIT Goa placements for the Class of 2024 are presented below:
Branch | Median Package (2024) | Average Package (2024) |
---|---|---|
CSE | INR 13.50 LPA | INR 16.15 LPA |
EE | INR 15.63 LPA | INR 15.18 LPA |
ME | INR 10 LPA | INR 12.37 LPA |
MnC | INR 15 LPA | INR 18.61 LPA |
So, the placement stats of 2024 shows that the highest average package was offered to MnC branch followed by the CSE branch.
2. Cuttoff: The common criteria upon the branch selection at IIT Goa is the cutoff required for admission. Looking at the IIT Goa cutoff (Round 1), CSE is the most competitive branch with a 2024 Round 1 closing rank of 4654 for the General category candidates. CSE was the most aspiring branch of IIT Goa in the last year. Take a look at the IT Goa branch-wise cutoff 2024 with a comparison to 2023 and 2022.
Branch | 2022 | 2023 | 2024 |
---|---|---|---|
ME | 11209 | 11060 | 10653 |
CSE | 3729 | 3498 | 4654 |
EE | 7815 | 7902 | 7944 |
MnC | 5214 | 5364 | 5803 |

If a candidate has strong command on Mathematics, then combine Mathematics with Computers Science.
