IIHM Kolkata Honors Faculty with Teacher’s Day Celebration, Inaugurated by Principal D.J. Gomes

September 16, 2024: The Indian Institute of Hotel Management recently celebrated Teacher's Day with excitement at its Kolkata campus. The event was organized by the institute to honour its faculty members for their unwavering support and efforts towards the students.

Principal D.J. Gomes of IIHM Kolkata gave a compelling speech addressing the importance of teachers in shaping the future of the hospitality sector. Some of the events the students performed as a show of their gratitude included dance performances, songs and skits. As the Teacher’s Day event came to an end, the faculty were presented with tokens of appreciation for their dedication and efforts to help develop the next generation of hotel management professionals.

Workshop Highlighting the Importance of Hygiene and Sanitation in the Hotel and Hospitality Industry

May 27, 2024: Ms. Shivangi Sharma and Ms. Diotima Roy from J W Marriott in Kolkata led a critical training on the importance of hygiene and sanitation in the hotel and hospitality industries. The event was hosted for students at the Indian Institute of Hotel Management. Throughout the course, Ms. Sharma and Ms. Roy highlighted the need to maintain excellent sanitary standards in hotels. They added that all hospitality staff have a fundamental responsibility to ensure guest safety, maintain cleanliness, and avoid illness transmission. The seminar emphasized the importance of stringent hygiene measures, particularly in light of the COVID-19 epidemic, which has fundamentally altered the industry's approach to cleaning and sanitation.

"The importance of hygiene in our industry cannot be overstated," Ms. Sharma said. "The pandemic has shown us that stringent cleanliness protocols are essential not only for guest satisfaction but also for their health and safety." Ms. Roy continued, "Guests' expectations have shifted. They now expect greater standards of hygiene, which we must achieve and exceed to preserve confidence and protect their well-being."The students eagerly engaged in the program, obtaining vital knowledge about modern sanitation procedures and the application of advanced hygiene protocols.
