Workshop Highlighting the Importance of Hygiene and Sanitation in the Hotel and Hospitality Industry

May 27, 2024: Ms. Shivangi Sharma and Ms. Diotima Roy from J W Marriott in Kolkata led a critical training on the importance of hygiene and sanitation in the hotel and hospitality industries. The event was hosted for students at the Indian Institute of Hotel Management. Throughout the course, Ms. Sharma and Ms. Roy highlighted the need to maintain excellent sanitary standards in hotels. They added that all hospitality staff have a fundamental responsibility to ensure guest safety, maintain cleanliness, and avoid illness transmission. The seminar emphasized the importance of stringent hygiene measures, particularly in light of the COVID-19 epidemic, which has fundamentally altered the industry's approach to cleaning and sanitation.

"The importance of hygiene in our industry cannot be overstated," Ms. Sharma said. "The pandemic has shown us that stringent cleanliness protocols are essential not only for guest satisfaction but also for their health and safety." Ms. Roy continued, "Guests' expectations have shifted.
