PHFI ShillongWhat’s new?
The Indian Institute Public Health (IIPH) Shillong was established by the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) in collaboration with the Government of Meghalaya (GoM). IIPH Shillong is one of the five campuses that come under the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI). In collaboration with Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU), this Institute offers a two-year PG programme i.e. Master of Public Health (MPH) programme. It also offers various e-learning courses in the fields of Health and Medical Science. IIPH-Shillong also arranges various training programmes, research workshops, field visits, and interactive sessions for students along with discussions for participants and research staff.
The Institute has two research centres namely The Centre for the Study of Complex Malaria in India (CSCMI) and the Regional Resource Hub for Health Technology Assessment in India (RRH- HTAIn). The Centre for the Study of Complex Malaria in India (CSCMI) in Shillong is established in collaboration with International Centers of Excellence for Malaria Research (ICEMR) initiative. Regional Resource Hub for Health Technology Assessment in India (RRH HTAIn) is established at IIPH Shillong and is funded by Department of Health Research (DHR), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India.
PHFI researchers have collaborated with a range of stakeholders including the national and state governments, academia, civil society, global foundations and the private sector. It has collaborated with Indian and international institutions such as All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Boston University, Cornell University, Harvard School of Public Health, to name a few.

IIPH, Shillong Admission Process
The Institute offers admission to a two-year and full-time course namely Master of Public Health (MPH). IIPH Shillong application process can be completed in online mode only. Below are the important details of IIPH Shillong admission process that an applicant must know of:
- Candidates who have completed their graduation and postgraduation in any stream can apply for the PG and PhD programmes, respectively. Work experience in a health related field is desirable
- IIPH Shillong admission process is merit-based. Eligible candidates need to appear for essay writing and GDPI round
IIPH, Shillong Courses
The Indian Institute of Public Health-Shillong offers a two-year PG-level programme i.e. Master of Public Health (MPH). It also offers PhD courses and various e-learning courses in the field of Health and Medical Science. The courses includes several ongoing research projects funded by international, national and state agencies and wide opportunities for field work in the region. The pedagogy includes lectures, practicum, field work, assignments, and internship. An internship / training of three-six months is an important and mandatory component of the programmes.

IIPH, Shillong Placements
IIPH Shillong placements are driven and managed by its on-campus placement cell which facilitates the employability of all the students enrolled in different academic programmes. The placement cell acts as an interface between the Institute and possible recruiters. It helps students to explore relevant career opportunities on the right career path. It also organises professional development workshop, sessions on email etiquettes, resume writing, cover letter writing, mock interviews, and group discussion.
Topmost frequent recruiters of this campus include National Health Mission, Apollo Foundation, Indian Cancer Society, Unicef, NACO, Antara Foundation, Rajiv Gandhi Mahila Vikas Pariyojana (RGMVP), GVK Biosciences Private Limited, to name a few.

IIPH, Shillong Scholarships
IIPH Shillong offers scholarships to students under four different categories. IIPH Shillong scholarships aim to encourage students to choose, pursue and advance career and work in the area of public health. Different categories of IIPH Shillong scholarships are listed below:
- Infosys Fellowships in Public Health: Selection for the INFOSYS Fellowships are done through a rigorous selection process comprising of a written test followed by an interview. Offer of Fellowship is made on the basis of merit obtained in the two.
- P&G Health Scholarship Criteria:The selection process for P & G Health Scholarship will be based on the institutional guidelines including but not restricted to merit and demonstrated need. Selected students will be mentored over the course of study and will be guided to develop their full potential to pursue their passion and build a strong career in public health.
- Emmes Scholarship Fund: This scholarship is full, half or part-funded and is offered to a specific group of candidates enrolling for Master of Public Health (MPH) programs at IIPHs (Shillong NCR, Gandhinagar, Shillong, and Hyderabad)
- Dr PG Tulpule Scholarship Fund: Scholarship will be awarded to candidates who have a specific interest in Public Health Nutrition. This will be assessed through:
- previous work experience in public health nutrition OR;
- previous education or research projects focusing on public health nutrition OR
- specific focus on public health nutrition in the proposed course of study at IIPHs
Amongst the group that meets the above criteria, preference will be accorded to
- Women candidates
- Candidates with NGO work experience, or who will work in backward and rural districts in India pot PGDPHM course
