Q:   What are the minimum marks required for M.Tech at Indore Institute of Science and Technology 2023?

A:

As of today, October 26, 2023, Indore Institute of Science and Technology (IIST) hasn't announced the minimum marks required for M.Tech admissions in 2024. Instead, they employ a dynamic cutoff system that fluctuates based on various factors each year.

Factors Affecting Cutoffs:

  • Number of available seats in each M.Tech specialization: Fewer seats lead to higher cutoffs due to increased competition.
  • Total number of applicants and their GATE scores: A larger pool of applicants with high GATE scores pushes the cutoffs upwards.
  • Difficulty level of the GATE exam in that year: A tougher exam generally results in lower cutoffs across the board.
  • Reservation policies and category-wise cutoffs: Seats are reserved for specific categories like SC, ST, and OBC, with lower cutoffs for these categories compared to the general category.

Previous Cutoff Trends:

While the official 2024 cutoffs are yet to be declared, analyzing past trends can offer some insights:

  • GATE score: Cutoffs typically range between 500 and 750 depending on the specialization. Popular fields like Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) often have higher cutoffs exceeding 700.
  • Percentage in qualifying exam: IIST doesn't officially announce a minimum percentage requirement for the Bachelor's degree, but a strong academic record (preferably above 70%) can strengthen your application.

Tips for Securing Admission:

  • Aim for a high GATE score: Focus on thorough preparation and practice tests to maximize your GATE score. A strong score significantly increases your chances for admission, especially in competitive specializations.
  • Stay updated on the latest information: Regularly check the IIST website and official brochures for updates on cutoff trends, application deadlines, and admission procedures.
  • Consider diverse factors: Remember that cutoffs are just one aspect of the selection process. IIST might also consider your work experience, research projects, and personal statement during the evaluation.
  • Prepare for additional rounds: If you don't secure admission in the first round, participate in subsequent counseling rounds as cutoffs might decrease slightly due to seat availability.

Q:   How are B.Tech placements at Indore Institute of Science and Technology?

A:

The B.Tech placements at Indore Institute of Science and Technology (IIST) are generally considered good, with placement rates typically exceeding 80% for most programs.

Strengths:

  • High Placement Rates: As mentioned,  most B.Tech programs at IIST achieve placement rates above 80%,  with some branches like CSE exceeding 90%. This indicates strong industry connections and employability potential for graduates.
  • Reputed Companies: IIST attracts several renowned companies for campus placements,  including IT giants like Infosys,  TCS,  Wipro,  Cognizant,  and Accenture,  along with core engineering firms like Bosch,  Tata Motors,  and Mahindra & Mahindra.
  • Average Salary Packages: While salary packages can vary depending on the company and branch,  the average package for B.Tech graduates at IIST typically ranges between 4.5 LPA and 5.5 LPA,  which is considered decent for fresh graduates in Indore.
  • Career Support Services: The institute provides career guidance and placement assistance to students through workshops,  mock interviews,  resume writing sessions,  and industry interaction events.

Potential Drawbacks:

  • Competition for Top Companies: Popular branches like CSE and ECE might see intense competition for placements with top companies,  requiring strong academic performance and technical skills to stand out.

  • Salary Packages Compared to Top Colleges: While the average salary packages are satisfactory,  they might not be as high as those offered by premier engineering colleges across India.

The B.Tech placements at IIST are positive, offering decent job opportunities for graduates. However, it's essential to consider individual programme statistics, competition levels, and desired career paths to make a well-informed decision. Remember, placement success also depends on individual efforts, academic performance, and skill development beyond academics.

If we talk about studies, it’s the best, and the faculties are also very cooperative and helpful.
Placements: The average package is 3-4 LPA. The placement rate is not that bad; people get placed with good packages, and if you have skills, you’ll definitely get placed. Internships are also available, but only for students with skills. For a student who just has a high CGPA but no skills, opportunities may be limited.
Infrastructure: Our college has quite good infrastructure, with all the labs and Wi-Fi available, but it's just for work purposes, and not everyone can access it. We have two auditoriums and seminar halls, along with a great mess and canteen that are quite good.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and highly qualified; some of them are from IITs. They provide great knowledge in a very easy way. The college offers skill improvement groups (SIG), project work, and personality development programs (PDP) to help students become industry-ready and reduce nervousness during personal interviews.

Placements: Placement ratio of indore Institute of science and technology was good enough. The average package at students are getting placed on average of 2.5 lpa . Approx 70% are getting placed. Infrastructure: The infrastructure of indore Institute of science and technology was average. Labs are really average here and classroom sitting area was good and library was excellent here and canteen area was not good here the facilities to sit here not good and chairs are not available here to sit.
Faculty: Faculty Information Profiles of professors and lecturers, their qualifications, areas of expertise, and research interests. Details on the courses offered, syllabus, program structure, and any specializations available within each program. Semester exams are quite difficult here.

The faculty is really helpful and knowledgeable and their teaching methodology is good.
Placements: The highest package in the placements stood at INR 28 LPA and the overall average package stood at INR 4.23 LPA. The number of companies that visited in 2022 for the placements drive was the same as 2021. The lowest package declined by nearly 17% in 2022 compared to that of 2021.
Infrastructure: Currently, the college is improving its facilities. They constructed a new football ground near the back gate, cleared the forest area in front of the mess and the library which will be used to conduct events. the construction at the main gate and the police checking is complete now and they made a trail in the forest near the library which goes down to the basketball court.
Other: You should be enthusiastic, let your passion for the course shine through. Be specific, discuss how the course can help you achieve your career goals. Consider your strengths, think about how your strengths and qualifications align with the course. Be confident in your approach to the interview with honesty. Structure your response by organizing your thoughts in a logical flow. Use positive language, a tone that reflects positivity and certainty.

The Best College Which Provides Quality Education and Encourages Ambitions
Placements: Placements are good, but some students are not getting placed because very few companies visit the college every year. The recession is impacting the overall growth of the college. As far as facilities are concerned, they provide quality education.
Infrastructure: Regarding infrastructure, the college provides quality education. The mess food is sometimes good and sometimes very oily. However, overall, the facilities the college provides are of high caliber compared to other competitors in the state. Discipline is maintained throughout.
Faculty: The faculty comes from very reputed institutions like IITs, IIMs, and VITs. The faculty members are very knowledgeable and provide personal attention to each student. Sports faculty are also allocated for each sport, showing awareness of extracurricular activities in the college.

Overall, the college is good for Indore city.
Placements: I am a student at Indore Institute of Science and Technology in the CSE department my graduation will be completed in 2025. There are more than 200 students in the CSE department, and after this, there are other branches like IT, AIML, IOT, which were recently added. The highest package is 50 LPA and the lowest is 4 LPA. Top recruiting companies like IBM, Flipkart, Juspay, and Accenture have come to the college so far.
Infrastructure: The facilities are good; they provide everything in the college but some things need improvement like the hostel rooms. Wi-Fi is not available for phones, only for our system. If you change the PC, you have to go to the admin office for registration of your system's IP. Wi-Fi is not available in some places, but where it is, the speed is excellent. The college organizes games, and during the annual function, there are many activities like fashion shows, dance, music, etc. There is also a concert the day after the annual function.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful; they help and guide us when we face any problems. Some teachers are very knowledgeable and good at teaching, while others need improvement. In this course, the college provides SIG every semester where we are trained in programming languages and helped to create our first website. SIG is provided for all courses as required in their fields.
Other: I chose this course because of its scope, and according to me, the best thing about this course is that we learn everything in detail. According to me, everything in the college is good. They also provide buses, but transport management needs improvement as sometimes there are more students than seats on the bus. Some students use the bus without paying, though it’s just one or two. The campus surroundings are good, and they provide scholarships and encourage students to participate in extracurricular activities. The fest is amazing.

Q:   How is CGPA calculated at the Indore Institute of Science and Technology?

A:
The calculation of Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) at the Indore Institute of Science and Technology (IIST) is typically based on the grading system and credit system implemented by the institution. 1. Grade Points: Each course or subject is assigned a certain number of credits. Generally, a letter grade is assigned to indicate the performance in a particular course, such as A, B, C, D, or F. Each letter grade corresponds to a specific grade point. The grade points are usually on a scale of 0 to 10 or 0 to 4, depending on the grading system adopted by the institution. 2. Credit Weightage: The credit weightage of a course is multiplied by the grade points earned in that course. For example, if a course carries 3 credits and the student earns a grade point of 8, the credit weightage would be 3 x 8 = 24. 3. CGPA Calculation: To calculate the CGPA, the total credit weightage earned in all courses are divided by the total number of credits attempted. This division yields the CGPA. CGPA is usually reported on a scale of 0 to 10 or 0 to 4, depending on the grading system. It's important to note that the specific grading system and calculation method for CGPA may vary between institutions. To obtain the accurate and detailed information about CGPA calculation at IIST, I recommend referring to the official documents provided by the institution, such as the student handbook, academic policies, or contacting the administration or academic department directly. They will be able to provide you with the institution-specific guidelines and procedures for CGPA calculation.
