Q:   Is MBBS at KMCT Medical College, Kozhikode a good choice?

    A:
    {Source: MBBS students & alumni}

Here's a summary of the key points:

    Pros:

    * Good infrastructure, with modern air-conditioned lecture halls, a library with updated reference books, and national-standard laboratories.
    * Qualified faculty with most being postgraduates and many superspecialists.
    * Teaching quality is good, with professors clearing doubts and being approachable.
    * Most students (almost 100%) secure jobs after completing the course, with salaries ranging from INR50,000 to INR90,000 per month.
    * Internship opportunities are plentiful, with 100% of students doing internships in KMCT Hospital in Manassery.
    * The college has plans to increase its intake capacity to 250 students in 2022, indicating growth potential.

    Cons:

    * Limited recreational facilities, such as no gym, ground, or auditorium.
    * Some issues with hostel infrastructure, including congested rooms and poor bathroom facilities.
    * No extracurricular activities or festivals.

    Verdict:
While KBMC may not excel in terms of overall student experience, its strong academic reputation, good faculty-student ratio, and decent placement record make it a viable option for aspiring doctors. However, students who prioritize a holistic education with plenty of extracurricular activities might want to explore other options. Ultimately, it depends on individual priorities and preferences.

Absolutely satisfied with faculty, academics, extracurricular, campus environment.
Placements: As our college is a medical college and not placement-oriented like engineering, it is not possible to provide information about such questions. I would mention the internship provided by the college. The college offers a one-year internship with a formidable stipend for the services provided.
Infrastructure: Well-oriented library for both study and research purposes, catering to UG, PG, and higher levels. Well-equipped labs are present, and classrooms are advanced with projector screens, Wi-Fi, and comfortable benches and desks. Hostel facilities are above average with good food and accommodation. Sanitation and water quality can be improved. Food in the mess is good. Medical facilities are well-equipped. Sports facilities are good but can be improved.
Faculty: Faculty members are well-qualified and knowledgeable. Their intent towards teaching is commendable. The CBME curriculum is very relevant in today's scenario of health improvement. As it is a medical course, it provides a formidable amount of difficulty, as it is one of the most challenging courses worldwide. The pass percentage is around 85%.
Other: The interesting thing about taking the MBBS course is your intent and determination regarding your aim and goal in the long run, and what you want to be in the future. The college provides arts fests, college fests, sports fests, and more for betterment in all fields. The E-grants scholarship is given to students who are eligible for certain reservations.

It is the best private college for North Indian medical students in Calicut.
Placements: There is always a need for more doctors. Almost all students out of 150 people in a year got jobs. The highest salary offered is Rs.90,000 per month and the minimum salary offered is Rs.50,000 per month. Top hospitals include private hospitals in Calicut and government medical colleges in Kozhikode. Many students also got into postgraduate courses in government colleges like Government Medical College, Kannur. About 100% of students did internships in KMCT hospital in Manessery. Top roles offered are as a junior medical officer in a government hospital or community health center.
Infrastructure: We have air-conditioned lecture halls, a library with all new editions of the latest reference books, and national standard laboratories for all different departments like Anatomy, Physiology, etc. The hostel is clean with 3 people sharing per room. Dinner is delivered at the hostel. Lunch and breakfast are served in the college mess. Food is healthy and served in sanitised way. Sports facilities are a badminton court, volleyball court, and basketball court.
Faculty: All professors are qualified from government medical colleges with most being postgraduates and many superspecialists. The teaching is on par with national standards. MBBS is a professional course which makes a doctor ready to attend to patients and give prescriptions and diagnoses. Semester exams are made difficult to make students ready for university exams. The pass percentage is about 80%.

Satisfied with college experience and environment around. But some improvement are necessary .
Placements: MBBS students don't get placement in any companies after the completion of their course. During the internship, we get a stipend, but it is bare minimum to survive, which should be increased in my opinion. After the internship, most students opt to prepare for post-graduation.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure and facilities are above average but not something extraordinary. Each department has its own lab and lab equipment. Classrooms are spacious and well accommodated. The library spans two levels with standard textbooks and enough space for students to enjoy reading time. Sports and games need to be uplifted.
Faculty: Faculty members are well-trained, and they have enough teaching experience, and their way of teaching is impressive. But a few departments have a faculty shortage, which can hamper the learning experience, create discontinuity in syllabus coverage, and, most importantly, break the flow of students.
Other: I chose MBBS so that I can treat and help people in need, and also so that I can make money, as in our country there is a high demand for doctors. Events and fests are frequent in my college. It is interesting to witness different cultures.

The lack of infrastructure and poor management by the college led to a sad life.
Placements: The course offered is MBBS. People usually get jobs without much hassle. The internship is part of the 5.5-year course which comprises a full year. We are eligible to practice as a doctor only after we qualify for the next exam which is a national entrance exam.
Infrastructure: The facilities offered by the college are below what is the minimum requirement for any other college. There are no gyms, grounds, or even an auditorium. Air conditioning is presented but no one bothers to fix it. The hostel also has several broken showers and the management is not bothered.
Faculty: The teaching quality is good enough, they do clear doubts and are approachable for the most part. This course is very curriculum relevant and it does make the students "industry ready". The exams are very difficult with several failures and occasional repeats.
Other: There are no extracurricular activities.

I am somewhat satisfied with the hostel but everything is good.
Placements: Its a medical college so there won't be any company requirements. After the course, one can join as a junior resident in the college hospital. Students under the Muslim minority quota compulsorily have to work for one year.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is pretty good and the management is trying to improve as they are planning to make the college deemed soon. The number of seats will be increased to 250 from 150 in 2022. Hostel rooms are so congested and bathroom facilities are very poor. There are only 3 toilets for 40 boys.
Faculty: Faculty is excellent, especially the Biochem department and anatomy. Teachers are highly qualified and very helpful. The first year of MBBS is very hectic and have to suffer a lot. The course will be very different from High school and during this time teachers help us a lot to overcome this difficulty.
Other: Students won't have a good life on campus.

Academics and internship are excellent but sports is mediocre .
Placements: Admission is based on the NEET score, and it's comparatively hard to get in. However, there are also NRI seats. The lowest fee is for OEC and OBC students with egrantz, which is 50,000 per year, and the highest is 20 LPA. For merit general students, it is around 7 LPA. Every student will have to do an internship in the final year with a stipend provided by the college.
Infrastructure: The college has Wi-Fi facility throughout the whole campus. Also, labs and classrooms are spacious and air-conditioned. The mess and canteen are hygienic and provide food as per the request of the student committee. Sports are a bit less compared to other colleges since there is not much ground for practice and all.
Faculty: The faculty members are helpful, but some of them are a bit too strict. You'll have to study year-round since all marks will be calculated to take an average, and if attendance and marks are less, you won't be allowed to write exams. Pass percentage is above 90 every year. Faculty members are excellent since most of them are experienced professors.
Other: I love to be a doctor from childhood itself, and my parents had done thorough inquiries regarding the college and were satisfied. A lot of events are conducted year-round, and those are the stress busters we get during our hectic studies.
