Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   How many students can do BA (Hons) English at Maharaja Agrasen College?

A:

To determine the exact number of students enrolled in BA (Hons) English at Maharaja Agrasen College (MAC), it is essential to consider factors such as campus location, year of admission, and limited official data. The college website may not provide exact student intake information, but contacting the Department of English at the desired campus is the most reliable way to inquire about the current intake. Student resources, such as forums or alumni networks, may share information about programme sizes and class sections, but these may not be official or entirely accurate. It is crucial to remember that student intake numbers can fluctuate over time, and relying solely on unofficial sources may be misleading. Therefore, contacting the college directly or searching their official website for relevant programme documentation is the best approach for obtaining accurate and up-to-date information.

Q:   Is English Honors at Maharaja Agrasen College better than Kalindi College?

A:

Delhi University's top colleges for English honors are Maharaja Agrasen College and Kalindi College. The two universities provide top-notch academic programs, knowledgeable faculty, and successful placement records. Nonetheless, the two colleges differ significantly in a few important ways. Coeducational Maharaja Agrasen College boasts a lively campus community. Compared to Kalindi College, it provides a greater selection of elective courses and extracurricular activities. It can be congested at times, though, and some students have voiced dissatisfaction with the administration. Kalindi College is an all-girls college with a serene campus setting. Its English Honors programme places more of an emphasis on literary critique. It does, however, provide a smaller selection of extracurricular activities and optional courses than Maharaja Agrasen College.Your unique requirements and preferences will determine which college is ideal for you. A better option for you would be Maharaja Agrasen College if you're searching for a college with a robust academic program, a large selection of elective courses, and a vibrant extracurricular scene. Kalindi College might be a better fit for you if you're searching for an institution that places more of an emphasis on literary criticism and has a calmer campus life.

Good infrastructure, average placements. Teaching faculty should be headed by a solid committee.
Placements: Less than 60% got placed, but the average placement range is 3 LPA to 4 LPA. The highest could have been 6 LPA but not more than that. Top recruiting companies include Zomato, Swiggy, Republic TV, T-Series, Film Keeda, and News18. Roles offered include Social Media Manager, Content Writers, Operations Executive, BDE, and PR Intern.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available but not accessible to the students. Classrooms are well-maintained with new furniture, though some classrooms are empty and therefore not maintained. I would rate hygiene 9/10. The library is well-equipped with books on almost all subjects. Hostel facilities are good, but the mess food is bad most of the time. Laundry is available. The canteen is closed most of the time, but when it is open, it serves good, hygienic food. Medical facilities and sports I would rate a solid 9/10.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified, but a few of them just come to college to read PDFs. They know about the course and are knowledgeable but are lazy and don’t engage with students. Yes, the course is relevant, but the media lab does not have enough equipment, so students cannot become industry-ready to that extent. I would rate it 7/10. Exams are of moderate to difficult level. The pass percentage is 60%, and attendance must be more than 66.7% to sit in the exams.
Other: I wanted to start my career in advertising and marketing, particularly in the production area. I also have a passion for anchoring, so this course was perfect for me. The college infrastructure can be rated a solid 11/10. It has the best location, with many PGs and hostels nearby. I wish there was a committee that assists students closely and allows them to discuss the teaching faculty. There have been instances of teachers disrespecting students, both female and male. College events and fests are like a festival, and being with friends makes it even better. About scholarships, if you are a non-general category student, you get your fees back for all years, but you have to pay the amount first, and after one year, you get your fee back (for non-general).

The infrastructure and hostel facilities are worth the fees.
Placements: The percent of students that were placed in my course was 79%. The highest package was 6 LPA, the lowest was 2 LPA, and the average package offered in my course is 3–4 LPA. The top recruiting companies are Aaj Tak and The Times of India. The percent of students that got internships from my course is 80% in Dainik Jagran and The Times of India. The top roles offered in my course are content writers, photographers, editor and many more.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure available for the course Journalism are a library, a media lab, and classrooms with well-equipped infrastructure. The quality of the facilities in the hostel is top-notch; they have provided a bed, study table, cupboard, and shelves with a lot of space. The quality of food available in the mess of the hostel is good and changes every day as per the menu. The sports, indoor games like table tennis, and gym are also available with well-equipped instruments.
Faculty: The teachers and professors are really helpful, qualified from a recognized university with immense knowledge, and always ready to empower us. The quality of the teaching of the teaching staff of the college is really involving, immersion and empowering. The course curriculum is really relevant, as per the need. It makes the students ready for the industry with the required skill set. The difficulty level of the semester exams at the college is medium. A student with a clear concept can easily ace the exams with a good percentage.
Other: I chose this course because I was interested in learning more about the media industry and getting involved in the process of learning more. The best thing about this course is the openness and practical approach it provides towards the subjects. The thing I wish would be better is the implementation of the theory in practical projects. The college provides various other stuff than just classes and courses, like extracurricular activities, events, fests, and scholarships. It also has a decent campus crowd and connectivity with society, industry, and surroundings.

A college with many opportunities
Placements: Highest package is around 6lpa, average is 2-3lpa and lowest is around 1.5lpa. Top recruiting companies- suntv, abp news and many more. Around 60% of students got internship through professors. Top roles are of content writer, anchoring, media intern and video editors.
Infrastructure: One of the Best infrastructural facilities in DU. Auditorium with capacity of 400 seats, indoor gymnasium and other facilities, outdoor basketball court and big cricket ground. Well equipped with media labs and projectors for courses and good classrooms.
Faculty: Teachers are very well experienced and knowledgeable and give top notch education, they hardly miss their lectures and cover extra syllabus as well. Curriculum is of journalism and mass communication as well, and practical projects and assignments makes student learn skills every semester. Semester exams are not that difficult if one is updated with media affairs
Other: I chose this course because it gave me a direct experience of the media industry and helped me learn about many aspects of filmmaking and photography as well. It is a very practical course with field visits and assignments /projects. Something I wish could be better about the course is updating the syllabus acc to market forces. Extra curricular activites are something which MAC is proud of and excels in, we have societies ranging from filmmaking and photography to dramatics, stage theatre and marketing, quizzing, debating and what not. MAC ECA has made a reputation itself as it wins a lot of awards and has presence in the DU circuit itself. This college gives a very balanced environment where students can study as well as balance their extra curricular affairs as well.
