Effectiveness of Placement Cell for B.Com Courses at Maulana Azad College

Unfortunately, the placement cell at Maulana Azad College does not seem to be effective for B.Com students. According to the statements provided:

    * "None of the students were asked for appearing in Placement Interviews."
    * "None of the students were placed. No Placement was provided in the final year."
    * "There was no average salary or any salary offered for B.Com Students."

It appears that the college does not offer placements or internships for its B.Com students, leaving them without opportunities to gain practical work experience or secure employment after graduation.

Note: These statements are based on the reviews and feedback provided by current and former students of Maulana Azad College's B.Com program.

Review of Maulana Azad College Kolkata.
Placements: Maulana Azad is a government college in Kolkata. There is no placement system available in our college, specially is department of arts and science. There is an yearly campusing programme in the department of commerce. Apart from that the students have to get a job on their own.
Infrastructure: There is not many facilities available in our department. There is no separate departmental library or Wi-Fi or labs. Our hostels are pretty cheap. Food is available and there are two separate hostels available for boys and girls. To be honest I really don't know much about our hostel.
Faculty: Our teachers are really qualified and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is more than good. Its splendid. The course curriculum is given by the university of Calcutta itself. No it doesn't makes students industry ready. The semester exams are very difficult and we don't get much time to complete our syllabus. The pass percentage is 20%.
Other: I chose this course because of our excellent professors. Government scholarship is available - kanyashree and svmcm.

It provides good infrastructure, great facilities, and helpful faculty members.
Placements: When I passed out, I witnessed that more than 45% of serious students were placed in this course B.Com honors. Very few students got the handsome package of 4 LPA, and the remaining students got the average salary package of 1.5 LPA. The top recruiting companies were Amul Milk, Infosys, Amazon, etc. Almost 45% of students got internships in all mentioned companies. The top roles were it provides the practical knowledge of accounts, also give the experience of real workings so that students find it easy and familiar with the work in the future, and this college tried hard to make each student eligible so that they can clear the interview round and therefore take placements.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of this college was good and attractive. The floors were cleaned. There were a lot of classrooms so that students can sit comfortably and focus on their studies without any discomfort. Our college also provides a library consisting wide and innumerable collection of books relevant to our curriculum. There was not any kind of free Wi-Fi on this college premises. Regarding hostel facilities, it was well managed. The mess and the food provided by it were healthy and tasty. Since it was a hostel for students, medical facilities were available in case of sick, head pain, cold, etc. There was also a source of entertainment in the form of sports and games which includes indoor and outdoor games. So therefore it was an overall good experience to live there.
Faculty: Every student must accept the fact that the professors of this college were greatly qualified, they had many years of experience, and they were helpful in any manner of study. They make sure that each student must understands the concepts and had to clarity. This course was relevant, but it was online relevant when students were planning to do something related to business, commercial, marketing, selling, etc. It makes students industry-ready for them only. This college had its internal exams like all other colleges, and there was a semester exam conducted by the University of Calcutta after 6 months. The pass percentage was 30%.
Other: Every student had their own goals and aspirations, and my goal was to become the financial manager of renowned companies as I was inclined toward these commercial subjects, and therefore I decided to opt for this course. I did not see any kind of major fault while studying this course. There was always a scope for improvement. The course should make its syllabus a little bit width and deep because it did not focus on some topics in accounts and economics. Events and fests were held, and 2 to 3 times a month it was conducted. The campus was full of students, and the crowd was fine. The connectivity of the internet was good. The surroundings were refreshing as it was a kind of city area and feels like energetic. This college provides scholarships schemes under the discretion of the government. Moreover, this college provides opportunities to interested students in dancing, singing, public speaking, debates, drama, acting, carrom, chess, etc.

Our college offers helpful facilities, but there is not placement cell in the college.
Placements: Our college doesn't provide placements. Most of the students get jobs or internships from outside. Mostly students get into banks and other sectors of the industry as the college has a good reputation in Kolkata.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good, and they provide all the facilities such as a library, labs, and Wi-Fi. The classrooms are also very spacious and good. The library also has a good collection of books for the students. The canteen and mess food are good and affordable.
Faculty: Faculty members are one of the best you can get at Calcutta University. They are very knowledgeable and guide everyone personally. The teaching quality is also good. The course is not based on practicals or doesn't provide any real-life task so that's a setback. The semesters are quite tough, but the faculty members do their best to make it easy for students. The pass percentage is over 95% which is the highest among the CU colleges.
Other: I chose this college because it ranks 3rd in Kolkata in terms of B.Com (H). It is a good college, and the faculty members are also very good and helpful. The course should be more task or practical-driven. The college provides scholarship. College takes part in all the inter-college competitions. We also have a fest.

    Review of Maulana Azad College.
Placements: I am still pursuing this course. I have heard recruiters are very strict, but they offer an excellent salary. Last year about 87% of the students got placements in top companies, and they are well settled. I am looking forward to positive results in the next year.
Infrastructure: The root of Maulana Azad College is the commerce department. They provide classrooms with projectors. The college provides common room for both boys and girls. The library is air-conditioned. It has very good canteen. It provides a well-built gym for students fitness. It also provides community hall, auditorium and hygienic washrooms.
Faculty: Faculty members in the commerce department are supportive and helpful. I do not have any issues regarding the faculty. They even share their personal numbers to students for anytime assistance. I am Hons students, so the subjects and assessments are very much interesting. It made me clear my thoughts regarding my further studies.

One of the best & affordable college in Kolkata.
Placements: Although there was Placement & NSS cell but None of the students were asked for appearing in Placement Interviews. None of the students were placed so there was no package for B.Com students. No Placement was provided in the final year. There was no average salary or any salary offered for B.Com Students. Even the Senior passed out student did not have any placement done.
Infrastructure: The Classrooms are well furnished and Spacious. There are no services of Wi-Fi available for students. Computer lab is there for I.T. Practicals and library is spacious with Almost all books available. Library is well equipped with modern amenities, There is a Canteen also in the College Campus. Baker Government Hostel is Available for Muslim Students studying at Maulana Azad College. The hostel is just 5 minutes walk from Hostel. It is a government-aided Hostel with minimum yearly fees. There is a canteen available in the hostel which provides meals at affordable prices. The quality of food is good and healthy. There is a small garden also in the Hostel.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified and knowledgeable they are also helpful and are always there for students. The Head Of Department also helps the student and clear their doubts regarding studies. The course is helpful and now the University has Chosen CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) pattern with 6 Semester. The curriculum is important in making a student ready to face the corporate world after Graduation.
Other: After Completing My 12th from ISC board I applied for various colleges in Kolkata for B.Com (Hons) (Accounting & Finance) and I chose Maulana Azad College as it is one of the Best & Prestigious colleges in Kolkata with Government Aid and also Hostel facility for Muslim Students. The College has limited seats in B.Com (Hons) there and there is no B.Com general course. The College should increase its seats and there is no Masters Course in the college. The college should also start M.Com courses as it is one of the oldest colleges of Kolkata. The College organizes seminars in other departments and anyone can attend it. There are also other awareness drives in the college. The college also supports students with financial problems by providing them half free fee ship. The students should show their family income and submit the form and they will get half a free fee. The college only lacks a ground for students. The sports activities are organized in Calcutta University ground. Overall it is one of the best college situated in Central Kolkata. The nearest metro station is Esplanade.

Our college is under CU, and it is graded A by NAAC.
Placements: I am a student of B.Com (Hons) in MAC Kolkata. As for my knowledge, placements are not offered to commerce student in this college. Due to no placements, there is nothing about the salaries offered. But 2 students got an internship in nearby companies.
Infrastructure: College is well-furnished, and classrooms are well-furnished for science students. There are well-equipped labs, air-conditioned library and computers availed with internet facility. College has many RO facility with cold and normal water. As it is a Muslim institute, it has an air-conditioned masjid. There are many hostels nearby for only Muslim students with well-furnished rooms and mess facilities. Canteen is also available for students with a different menu. Our college has a common room with indoor games and a common room for girls.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are highly qualified, helpful and knowledgeable. Teaching level is not so good due to students because of lack of attendance. The course curriculum is great because college is very affordable for financially poor students, and it includes syllabus, which is connected to modern technology.
Other: As I was a commerce student, so I took this course, and I like to do accounts. The college should improve teaching quality and placement facilities so that students get a good opportunity in their future career. Our college organises many events like fest, sports programme and many more. College also provides many scholarships for needy students.
