MITID DAT 2025 exam pattern consists of a Design Aptitude Test and Studio Test & Personal Interview. The candidates have to appear for the MITID DAT exam and those qualifying the exam will be shortlisted for Studio Test & Personal Interview rounds. The candidate's performance in all the rounds will be evaluated before declaring the final merit list.

The MITID DAT 2025 exam will be conducted on April 6, 2025. 

Candidates who qualify in the DAT will have to next appear in a Studio Test and Personal Interview.

Q:   Is MITID DAT exam conducted as an online or offline exam?

A:

MITID DAT exam is conducted in both online and offline modes. Phase 1 of MITID DAT is held in online mode as a computer-based test and Phase-2 of the exam is to be attempted on a sheet provided inside the exam hall.

The candidate has to follow the official pattern when preparing for the exam. This will imrpove their chances of doing well in MITID DAT.

Q:   What is the syllabus for MITID DAT?

A:

MITID DAT has not released any official syllabus. However, candidates are evaluated on their analytical skills, drawing skills, communcation skills. Know more about the syllabus of MITID DAT exam 2025.

The candidate is also urged to prepare previous year's papers. Another useful tool is sample papers, which is easily available in the market for top exams like NIFT, NID, etc. Use these sample papers.

Q:   What is the pattern of MITID DAT exam?

A:

DAT examination includes computer-based MCQ (objective) test, subjective test and offline drawing test. Objective and Descriptive Test is a Computer Based Test. Where in Objective Test candidates have to choose the correct option, in Descriptive Test they have to write the correct answer in the text box. Drawing Exam is an Offline Test. For this section candidates are provided A4 size drawing sheets to draw using Pens / Pencils / Colours etc. After the exam is over, the answer sheets are collected, scanned and uploaded for evaluation at the test centre.

Q:   What is the basis of admission to UG and PG design courses at MIT Institute of Design (MITID DAT)?

A:

The admission to design courses will be based on the final merit list which will be prepared by considering the peformance of the candidate in:

  1. MITID DAT 2024 entrance exam
  2. Studio Test and Personal Interview

It is mandatory for candidates to appear in all the stages of the entrance exam. If the candidate misses out on any stage, he or she will be disqualified.

MITID Design Aptitude Test Pattern 2025

MIT DAT designs the center-level tests, the materials tests, and the personal interviews to shortlist the candidates with the best potential to become designers. For the Design Entrance Test (DET), candidates are advised to carry drawing, cutting-pasting, and coloring material (color pencil), crayons, stapler, scissors and glue stick, and fevicol. DET consists of objective tests and subjective tests in online mode.

MITID DAT Exam Pattern for Objective Test

It includes multiple-choice questions (MCQs) which will appear on the computer screen on a random basis. Candidates have to mark the one correct answer on the computer screen. 

MITID DAT Exam Pattern for Subjective Test

The subjective question of the exam will appear in different sections of the DAT. Candidates have to write the answer in the text box appearing on the computer screen.

However, there is no fixed MITID DAT 2022 exam pattern regarding the number of questions but the type of questions that will be asked in the design entrance exam mainly aim at evaluating the below-mentioned skills of candidates:

  • Design Inclination questions based on visual clues & general awareness
  • Analytical questions based on scientific understanding (PCM)
  • Logical Thinking skills
  • Communication Skills – verbal & nonverbal abilities of expression
  • Personality Trends – test of individual stand point

MITID DAT Exam Pattern for StudioTest

For Studio Test,  candidates are expected to reach the university campus on the specified date and time. Candidates are advised to carry their ID proof, hall ticket, and a copy of the DAT result. Besides, they should carry the following while coming to the campus:

  • Poster Colors, Acrylic colors, and Color pencils
  • Paint brushes, palette etc.
  • Fevicol and Fevikwik/ Fevibond
  • Cutter
  • Adhesive Tape
  • Scissors
  • Geometric set and other drawing material/instruments
  • Permanent Markers (min. 4 colors)
  • Stapler
  • Candidate's portfolio and work samples

Candidates who successfully clear the studio test and personal interview will be given admission at MIT Institute of Design, Pune, Avantika University, Ujjain and MIT University, Shillong.
