NID Assam Admission 2025: Eligibility, Application, Fees, Selection Criteria

The total tuition fees of BDes course is INR 4.7 lakh. Candidates are required to pay the course fee after completion of all the selection rounds to confirm their seats. In case, a candidate is unable to pay the fee within the specified time, his or her admission will stand cancelled. Candidates will also require to pay a registration fee to apply for admission. There is no official notification on the number of applicants for NID DAT 2024. However, as per unofficial sources, around 15,000 applicants appeared in the NID DAT 2024 (Prelims) exam. Note that only shortlisted candidates were eligible to appear in DAT Mains. Last year, The DAT Prelims was held in Dec, 2023.

For 2025 admission, candidates can apply for admission and NID DAT by Dec 3, 2024 . NID DAT will be held on Jan 5, 2025.

For the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) program, the National Institute of Design (NID) Jorhat has a thorough admissions procedure that is based on the NID Entrance Test (DAT). An essential assessment tool for determining an applicant's level of creativity, problem-solving, design thinking, and visual communication is the DAT. Exam content is divided into two sections:

1. The timed multiple-choice DAT Prelims
2. The written and practical DAT Mains, which include tasks involving drawing, modeling, and visualization.

Entry into NID Jorhat is through a multi-phase process. Candidates take part in DAT Prelims after registering online, and those who pass move on to DAT Mains. The DAT Mains shortlisted candidates move on to a studio exam where their design abilities, conceptual thinking, and capacity for both solo and group work are assessed. Those who perform well in the studio exam then go through an interview process where their communication abilities, fit for the B.Des program, goals for their careers, and capacity to explain the design thinking process are evaluated.

National Institute of Design (NID) Jorhat does not offer a Bachelor of Design (B. Des) programme. NID has four campuses located in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Bengaluru, and Vijayawada that offer B. Des programs. However, NID Jorhat offers a Master of Design M.Des programme in Design for Digital Experience. The admission process for the M.Des programme at NID Jorhat is conducted through a Design Aptitude Test (that) followed by a Studio Test and Interview. If you are interested in pursuing a B. Des programme in design, there are several other reputed institutes in India that offer this programme. Des programs at these institutes may vary, but most of them conduct an entrance exam followed by a Studio Test and Interview.
