The environment of Assam and the people (faculty and other staff) make it a blissful education.
Placements: To be honest, placement as such does not happen in a design school, you either get a job through your works on your portfolio (uploaded in the institute's website as a whole with every student of the every branch) or you get an internship. Rest assured, you won't sit around without a job after college.
Infrastructure: Classrooms and hostels are top-notch. Cleanliness to an extent also depends on us. Campus is fully Wi-Fi equipped. Food in the mess is varied and of good quality. Very hospitable mess staff. Always has food ready for the sick separately.
Faculty: Teachers are like mentors here. Very approachable but you have to approach them. They won't run behind you. You get help in every way possible. No one in here is with an unhelpful attitude. Much credit to such humble teaching and non-teaching staff.
Other: Being a new campus, it is still developing and growing.

Q:   Are admissions at NID Jorhat entrance-based or merit-based?

A:

Admission to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programme at National Institute of Design (NID) Jorhat is on admission basis. This means that admission is mainly determined on the basis of candidates' NID Entrance Test (DAT), studio tests and interviews, not solely on the basis of their academic qualifications or previous careers.

DAT is a mandatory entrance test that assesses the candidate's design thinking, creativity, problem solving and visual communication skills. Shortlisted DAT candidates are called for studio tests and interviews to further assess their design skills, conceptual thinking, communication skills and overall suitability for the B.Des program.

Although academic merit and previous careers are considered in the selection process, they do not play a significant role in determining admission. Emphasis on entry-based selection ensures that NID Jorhat attracts and admits students with design, creativity and problem-solving skills regardless of academic background.

This approach is consistent with NID's philosophy of identifying and nurturing promising design talent, developing a diverse and inclusive student body, and preparing graduates to excel in the competitive world of design.
