On B.E. / B.Tech Admissions

Q:   Is it worth joining NIT Mizoram?

A:

As per the data collated from verified students' reviews published on Shiksha, students of NIT Mizoram have received placement opportunities from companies, such as Amazon, Flipkart, TCS and Wipro, among others. While the students in their reviews mention that 40-100% of students get placement opportunities every year under different BTech specialisations, the NIRF report of 2022 provides data that only 30% of students (30 out of 97) got placed via the campus. Additionally, the median package stood at INR 6.80 LPA. Hence, keeping the NIT tag in mind and medium-level placement opportunities at a location far away from metro cities, NIT Mizoram can be considered a decent option for education.

B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering - Batch of 2028

Review of National Institute of Technology, mizoram.
Placements: Placements are good here. Since it is a temporary campus, mostly online interviews happen, so there is a chance you can get placed easily. The number of students here is less, which is also a good reason that you get placed as compared to other colleges.
Infrastructure: Since it is a hill area, network issues are there. But they provide Wi-Fi here, and sometimes Wi-Fi works slowly. Hostels are on the average side. Food is also not convincing, and since it is in the North, students can't even like food outside. Students don't get a homely feel.
Faculty: Faculty members are good here. Exams happen every three months per semester, so they are completed fast. Working days are also fewer. Exam levels are good. They provide PDFs. Faculty members are also from professional backgrounds, such as Dr., etc. Curriculum is also good.

My review on NIT Mizoram.
Placements: The placements are pretty good, and if we study well and get a good CGPA, we'll get placed easily. Even if we get an average CGPA, there are high chance that we'll get placed. There are fewer students here than at other colleges, which is one reason why it's easier to get placed. And, of course, the NIT tag is beneficial.
Infrastructure: Since it is a hill area, the network is not that good. They provide Wi-Fi, but sometimes the network is slow. The infrastructure is average since it is a hill area and a temporary campus. The food here in the North is not acceptable. Every day there are potatoes in the mess, and the food is not that good.
Faculty: The faculty at this college is good. Exams are held every three months, which means that the syllabus is completed quickly. As a result, the number of working days is also less. We will need to study from PDFs, which is common in any B.Tech college. The semester exams are of a good level, which means they are somewhat tough. However, this is the case at every college.

Lack of facilities are there in a major course.
Placements: Above-average placements, I would say, make the T&P very worthy. The new head is Sukanta Roy, who is the mastermind. The highest package offered is 14.6 LPA this year from CSE Avishek Gope. Internship-wise, this college also has impressive states. The percentage of students placed is 65 percent.
Infrastructure: Hostel 1 is only a good and well-maintained hostel but others are like a course to us. The other hostels are 2, 3, and 4, in which 2 is newly established and for first-year only, a partially rented old school building, and 3 is far away from college but better. 4 is very new, with too few facilities to survive. So basically, a game of survival is going on.
Faculty: Faculty and staff are good but some are very annoying. Especially some in the electrical branch, I cannot name them due to classified reasons but you all need to be aware of this. Examinations are well maintained and taken care of. Semester-wise exams let us take a breather. And yes, our curriculum makes us industry-ready.
Other: Though it stands value for money as a government college, it lacks basic amenities. We need a lot of improvement and hopefully we will get that sooner or later.

The main drawback is there is no campus and ground for students.
Placements: In our college, 100% of students got placed. The highest salary package offered is 15 LPA, the average is 9 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered is 4 LPA. I have no idea about the recruiting companies but they are not top companies. I’m not aware of internships but all students are getting internship.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the National Institute of Technology is good. Library and labs are good. Hostel is average. Sports and games are quite tough.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified, educated, and brilliant there's no doubt about it. Their way of teaching is mind-blowing. They are also helpful. Exams are really tough and up to the mark. We have completed mid-semester exams but not final semester exams.
Other: Mechanical Engineering is best here. There aren't many events held in our college, but if the event is held it is enjoyable.

This is the true review by the student of NIT Mizoram.
Placements: We have decent placements, like other NITs. Many companies come to our campus, like Juspay and Adobe. About 70 percent of students got placed with decent placements this year. So far, one of our seniors from the ECE department got the highest package, 21 LPA, from Juspay.
Infrastructure: We have good hostels. As we don't have our permanent campus yet, we have decent facilities in the hostels, like geysers and water purifiers. We also book futsal courts for playing games. We have the same courses for all branches in the first year, as we have the option of changing branches.
Faculty: Faculty are good and friendly with us. Whenever we need them, they are present to help us in every way. We have exams of a good level. Compared to toughness, there is relative grading in our college. Our exams are related to the courses or chapters taught in class.
Other: As we don't have our permanent campus, fests don't occur regularly. We have to book an auditorium to organize fests. All our students are busy with coding and other activities. We have to take flights to reach our college, as Mizoram doesn't have a railway station.

Placements are good, weather and nature are at its best.
Placements: Students are generally placed in the 6th, 7th, and 8th semesters. Our recent years have been very impressive and very boastful. NIT Mizoram has witnessed a good increase in placement packages and ratios overall. Earlier, it used to be a 6.8 LPA average but now it is a 10.5 LPA average. We expect it to go much beyond that. The highest package remains from CSE. Next would be ECE and EE. Internships are also good here.
Infrastructure: Lack of quality infrastructure and facilities. Food in a mess is not that good and sometimes it is edible. We have to regularly raise our voice for the betterment of food quality and after every protest, it improves and the quality goes back to normal. Sports are adequate.
Faculty: I would rate faculty members and the curriculum as good. They are well maintained and brought up to us. The pass percentage would be 35 percent. And the students have to face semester-wise examinations. We have a very relevant curriculum that trains us to become efficient engineers.
Other: The best thing about this college is the views and the weather. The college is situated in Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, which is quiet and beautiful. The air is very clean and there are no major problems as such.
