NSHM Kolkata BSc Eligibility & Highlights 2025

NSHM Kolkata BSc is available in three-year and four-year undergraduate degree course, divided into six and eight semesters respectively, and offered in full-time mode. NSHM Kolkata offers several specialisations in BSc programmes via different departments, for example- the NSHM Institute of Health Science offers a BSc in Psychology, Media Lab & Technology, Dietician and Nutrition, etc. NISHM Institute of Design School offers a BSc in BSc in Fashion Design & Management, BSc in Multimedia Animation & Graphic, etc. NISHM Institute of Computing & Analytics offers a BSc in Data Science and Cyber Security. NISHM Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management offers a BSc in Culinary Science and Hospitality & Hotel Administration. In the same manner, NISHM Institute of Media School and NISHM Institute of Nursing also offer various BSc specialisations, candidates can check the names and duration of the specialisation from here.

The eligibility criteria required by the institute to grant admission to BSc courses are candidates must complete their Class 12 preferably from the Science stream. However, in many specialisations, there are no rigid requirements for science subjects. NISHM Kolkata BSc admission is based on ENPAT and personal interview accumulative scores. However, for some BSc specialisations, the eligibility criteria and admission process are slightly different, as for BSc in Fashion Design and Management candidates are required to fill up the online application form, appear for personal interviews, and then receive a selection letter via e-mail. Hence, there is no requirement for any entrance examination scores. Reasons to not go to NSHM.

Placements: If you are looking for placements, NSHM might not be the right decision for you. For my batch, yes, I do believe some of the blame goes to covid, but the majority was due to our college's negligence. Out of 50 students, only 3 went ahead with our college placements. The minimum package offered was 1.8 LPA, and the maximum was 3.6 LPA.

Infrastructure: One thing that NSHM was actually successful at pulling off was the facilities. 3 Mac rooms, AC classrooms (AC didn't work, but it's the effort that counts), 2 huge libraries, and a canteen that was closed for 2 years. We also had a working AV room. There were no fields.

Faculty: The faculty was the worst thing about NSHM. At least for my course (B.Sc. Media), the faculty was so bad I had to learn things from YouTube. I can't say much about the curriculum, as directly MAKAUT is responsible for that. The exams were fairly easy, as most of the course material depended on your common sense rather than your mugging-up skills.

One of the best colleges for Data Science in Kolkata.

Placements: The college placements rate is impressive with more than 98% of students being placed. The average salary package offered is 5.8 LPA. Top recruiting companies include Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Deloitte, Genpact, etc. More than 80% of students got internships in Bangalore and Kolkata-based companies. Top roles offered include data analyst, data scientist, data architect, BI manager, business analyst, and data/analytics manager.

Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is very good with amazing wall art outside the canteen building, along with an art gallery, GATE mapping system, underground parking, tennis court, etc. There is a canteen that serves good quality food at a reasonable and affordable price.

Faculty: Faculty members are the main plus point for this college, being very helpful in academics as well as extra-curricular activities. From notes to suggestions, they provide everything necessary for the semester exam. They cover the whole syllabus with all the required guidance. Exams are based on the MAKAUT curriculum.

Other: I chose Data Science because of the high demand for skilled professionals, excellent earning potential. It has diverse skill set combining statistics, programming, and visualization.

It is a good college for students who want to develop skills, or else don't join.

Placements: They don't have a placement cell for all students. They'll inform students that they have it, but they don't have any. Just don't believe their sweet talks, students just have to graduate and find company.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good, and go for it. They have good equipment.

Faculty: Teachers are very good. They are always helpful towards anything. They don't have any placement cell for all students and their team won't even help students in anything. It is not very helpful to join as a middle-class family. The best thing is that students should get a diploma from here and get further studies from somewhere else.

Placements: As of now, all my batchmates have gotten internship placements, including me, from the Ministry of Education via the college, where we are already getting special workshops and practical training with photography and videography equipment. We have a fixed package in B.Sc. Media Science of 5.6 Lacs.

Infrastructure: Beautiful ambience with top-notch technology in classrooms. Faculty feels like home, and they always keep in touch and show concern for our requirements. We have 2 huge libraries, well-maintained, a canteen, an in-college cafe, and also a sports area.

Faculty: The teaching faculty always keeps in touch and helps students wherever needed. They are available almost 24/7 via WhatsApp and phone calls and intend on teaching what is relevant rather than showing off or boasting excessive knowledge. Exams are average, and almost no students get stuck. However, 75% attendance is a must.

Other: There are numerous activities throughout the year, including fests and other extracurricular activities, for which we also have separate clubs and departments. I chose my course from this college as it is known to have the most updated technology and provides hands-on experience to its students, which is crucial for a Media student like me in order to keep up with the world of possibilities outside.

Placements: Anchor, cinematographer, videographer, still photographer, and many more. Students get internships in news channels like Aaj Tak, and they can be writers or content creators at great platforms. College encourages students towards their life skills and development.

Infrastructure: Best faculty, classrooms, and libraries are very interactive. Hostel services are not available now, but there are PGs and flats recommended by the college. Good quality food is available in my PG. Sports are also held in the college, like badminton, cricket, basketball, and many more.

Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated towards their work. Each and every teacher tries to teach as much as they can in their classes. There are also monthly exams held, and assignments are given on a regular basis.

Other: Fests also take place and are very enjoyable. Sports are also held in the college. Yoga classes are also available. My reason to choose this course is because I want to be a videographer.

Good faculty. Placement according to your grades. Good infrastructure and nice environment.

Placements: Good college. Since I am a first year student and not know much about but many companies come like Wipro, TCS. Don't know about the companies but it is much depend on the students performance. The college is responsible for hiring but not for the grades the great you have to improve.

Infrastructure: Good faculty. Seniors are helpful. Overall the college is nice. Neat and clean washrooms. Wi-Fi available library is full air conditioned and loaded with books. Overall floors stars are clean there are lift system all over the campus. Every time the washrooms gets cleaned and washed.

Faculty: Teachers are very helpful. First semester is just like class 12. First semester is not very hard you have to do presentations, report writing and search projects. Overall faculty is good and you can tell the teachers directly if you have any doubt. The classes are well taken and practical are also good.

Other: Not much crowd, scholarship available both outside and inside based on marks.
