Q:   How successful is the placement cell in securing jobs for B.A. students at Ramanujan College?

    A:
    {Source: B.A. students & alumni}

Placement Cell Success Rate for BA Students

    * According to several students and alumni, around 50% to 60% of BA students from Ramanujan College get placed through the placement cell.
    * Some students reported receiving decent placements, while others opted for higher studies.
    * The placement cell actively seeks to increase the number of placements and organises job fairs and other recruitment drives throughout the year.
    * Alumni mentioned that the highest package offered was around INR5 LPA, and many students received internships and placements in reputed companies.
    * However, it's worth noting that placements for BA students might not be as numerous as those for students from other courses, such as BMS or BSc.

Overall, while the placement cell seems to be doing its part in securing jobs for BA students, the success rate might vary depending on individual performances and market conditions.

Overall, the faculty is nice and curriculum is updated.
Placements: The average salary stands 4 LPA. The college cell is proactive in conducting placements and workshops for job placement, making students appropriate in support and opportunities ensuring students are well placed in their respective fields.
Infrastructure: College's good infrastructure ensures a conducive environment for academic and personal growth making it a crucial factor for the students. The college is equipped with all the required things such as classes, labs, a well-stacked library. The canteen is a bit smaller and the grounds are plenty.
Faculty: The college has good faculty and they are experienced as well. To help students, they conduct doubt sessions wherein students can come and clear their doubts. The course curriculum is well-updated as well.

An In-Depth Review of Ramanujan College
Placements: There are no placement opportunities in my college for Philosophy Hons, and generally, students pursue higher studies after graduation. But the faculty of my college is amazing. The roles that my course offers are counseling, human resource specialist, corporate trainer, and in academic fields, they can work as teachers, researchers, and lecturers.
Infrastructure: The availability of books in the library is good; it covers books from every course. Classrooms are good, with whiteboards and projectors present. Wi-Fi is generally at a very low speed. Labs are good and have computers in working condition. The hostel of our college provides low-quality food and has almost 5000 rent per month, but one can pay a little extra to get a PG, and the PG provides good quality food and suitable rooms that are generally shared by 2-3 people.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful, and they encourage critical thinking, which helps in the development of an analytical understanding of students. For this course specifically, the curriculum is relevant, and it gives a clearer understanding of the subject. There is no specific industry-related thing, but one has to acquire some extra skills to be industry-ready. The semester exams are generally easy and can be prepared for by studying one week before the exam. The passing percentage is 33%, which includes semester exams, internal assessments, and continuous evaluation.
Other: I chose this course because I have a keen interest in philosophy. I've heard about this subject a lot of times but have never read it, so I want to try this subject. That is why I chose this subject for my degree. My college has a society, especially for my course, which is Yatharth, but it was not active at the time of my admission. Then it got active in 2024, but the events that it conducts are very few, and there are also no philosophical debate sessions conducted weekly. I want to improve that thing.

    Dissatisfied with Ramanujan College.
Placements: No students till now are placed from my course. College doesn't even provide any internships one has to go and search oneself. The internships in my course all tasks for registration charges and is unpaid. One has to do Masters then can do a certain job.
Infrastructure: There are no Wi-Fi connections for the students. Libraries has limited books. Classrooms are well maintained. Even the washrooms is hygienic. College doesn't provide their own hostels one has to find it on their own. The canteens have good food quality and their are sports societies in the college.
Faculty: Teachers are not helpful at all. In the end students have to study on their own. This course requires a lot of study even after B.A. one has to do Masters in order to do something in life. Only Bachelors degree is not sufficient for one to be a successful person. The exams were easy and one needs to have 4.5% to pass.
Other: I chose this course as I was really interested in human behaviour, mind or the mental processes. I was interested in abnormal psychology regarding the disorders. There are events or fest in my college but nobody is interested attending it. The only I want to improve about this course is that the teachers should teach students.

Great events and activities, supportive faculty and good facilities.
Placements: I have no idea about placements. In my course, there was not much scope for placements, but in other courses like the B.Com program and B.Com students used to get placed in different big companies with good packages. My course is more about doing practical and writing research papers, which I enjoyed, especially my psychology practical.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was good, sufficient classrooms, all labs, practical rooms. But the campus was not as big as other DU colleges' campuses. There was only one ground to conduct fests and other events. The canteen was also small, not enough place for all students to sit. As for the hostel, the college doesn't have a hostel facility, students have to live in hotels, PGs, or flats, but the college provides contacts of hostels and PGs nearby for out-of-station students so that they can get their accommodation easily. But at the end, you have to do it on your own.
Faculty: There are both types of teachers I have come across during my college time. Some teachers are very active, and supportive, and teach you in real, and a few others do not pay much attention. The curriculum was well-structured, and some courses were even renewed as per the latest patterns and needs. The exams were of moderate levels; if you have a broad idea of the topics, you can easily answer them. I don't have an idea about the pass percentage as we get our results online on the portal of the University, so no idea about others' results apart from my friends.
Other: I wanted to prepare for competitive exams, that's why I chose this course. The best thing is that it has only four subjects, so I can focus on my coaching and other things as well without much difficulty. The course structure was also good, but for some papers, the reference books were limited. The campus crowd was more than average, good enough. The annual fest was top-notch, in my opinion, better than most other colleges that I have seen. So many other events were also organized, like literature fest, Diwali, and Dandiya fest apart from the annual fest.

I am absolutely satisfied with this college. It is worth for money paid.
Placements: Ramanujan College has a good placement history. Although this may vary by department for many programs. Top recruiting companies like Deloitte, EY, KPMG, Wipro, and Accenture visit the college to hire students with the roles of business analyst, financial analyst, marketing executive, etc.
Infrastructure: Ramanujan College provides students with a strong infrastructure. It has fully equipped classrooms, a modern laboratory, and a well-stocked library. Wi-Fi access is also available. There is an auditorium for catering events and cultural activities. The college does not have its own dormitory but students can live in nearby PGs. The college has sports facilities and encourages participation in extracurricular activities.
Faculty: Ramanujan College faculty members are generally considered to be competent, helpful, and knowledgeable. Many faculty members are involved in research and stay up to date on the latest trends. Overall the faculty members' experience contributes significantly to the quality of education. The course curriculum is aligned with the guidelines of the University of Delhi by combining theoretical and practical knowledge. It aims to make the student industry-ready by including elements like internships and college societies.

I am dissatisfied because of the college faculty, infrastructure, and atmosphere.
Placements: I'm still studying, but I heard a lot of times that the placement cell does not provide great opportunities. The highest salary offered is Rs. 20,000 per month. The lowest salary offered is Rs. 10,000 per month. Not all companies are top recruiting companies. Around 20% of students got internships. I do not know the exact percentage, and companies are usually different. According to my knowledge, top roles offered are HR sales intern, etc.
Infrastructure: The whole college has one beautiful building only for expensive courses. Our course class takes place in the port cabins. There are cabins made around the ground in which the classes take place. Wi-Fi is not available. The library accommodates only a few students. The canteen does not have a proper seating arrangement. The water purifier is not clean. I didn't like the quality of the food provided in the canteen.
Faculty: The teaching quality is quite good, but still not as good as the teaching quality of the school, but I can understand. Our teachers are quite helpful, very qualified, and knowledgeable. The course curriculum is not relevant. It does not make students industry-ready as nobody in the interview is going to ask how women's involved in the history of India. Semesters are very difficult. I don't know what that particular subject teacher wants as an answer. Sometimes, it becomes difficult to understand what should be studied to get marks. Whatever we write, somehow it doesn't seem to work.
Other: I did not choose this course. It was allocated to me by the University of Delhi. I am not interested in this course because this is not what I always wanted to study but I want a degree so that I can study further what I wanted to study. I guess people should be good to others or their fellow mates because there are times when people don't know anything and desperately need help but people being arrogant doesn't seem to be helpful. This makes an introverted person more of like not to ask for help. I have been one like that. This is my third year and till now I don't have people around me whom I can call friends. Making friends while living college life is very important.
