Q:   What entrance exam scores does UPES School of Business accept for admission to MBA?

A:

UPES accepts various national-level entrance exam scores for granting MBA admissions:

1. CAT - Minimum cut off varies from 70 to 75 percentile across different specializations.  The higher the CAT score, the better scholarship/fee waiver chances.

2. CMAT/XAT - UPES accepts CMAT and XAT scores for shortlisting candidates. Expected minimum scores are usually around 90+ percentile in these exams, though final cut-offs vary.

3. GMAT - Applicants can also apply with a competitive GMAT score - generally around 500+ marks. This is mostly for those with relevant work experience.

4. NMAT and other test scores may also be considered during admission evaluations.

Additionally, shortlisted candidates have to go through further screening process including:

- Essay submissions
- Personal Interview (PI) rounds
- Academic profile evaluation
- Work experience appraisal if applicable

Finally admissions are granted based on a composite score considering test scores, academics, interview performance etc.

In summary, good CAT scores are valued, but CMAT/XAT/GMAT scores in 90+ percentile range can also make you eligible. Performance in further admission screening process also matters a lot for final selection.

Q:   Is UPES School of Business good for MBA?

A:

Yes, the MBA programme at UPES School of Business is generally good, but there are a few things to keep in mind:

Advantages: - Reputable placements with average pay of 7-8 LPA across specializations
Good facilities and infrastructure, with a sizable, contemporary campusOpportunities for international exchange programs via collaborations with universitiesA focus on hands-on learning through internships, simulations, and other means - Offerings of specialised fields that are pertinent to important industries

Cons: - Some reviews suggest that the academic curriculum could be more rigorous; - Faculty research output is still developing; - Dehradun's location limits industry connections when compared to larger cities; - Lacks the prestige and branding of older IIMs and private colleges; - The return on investment is heavily dependent on securing good placements.

Great experience at UPES. It is a great college for MBA.
Placements: Placements during the year 2017 were very good. Some of the reputed companies visited the campus for recruitment. My friends got placed in companies such as TCS, Infosys, HDFC Bank, Motilal Oswal, etc. I was happy to get recruited by Birlasoft at New Delhi. I was offered a role in business analytics as I majored in MBA business analytics. The average salary package offered was around 5 LPA.
Infrastructure: The college was top-notch in terms of infrastructure. It had a high-speed Wi-Fi system and an inbuilt power station to ensure continuous power supply. Labs were well built. There was a fully loaded ambulance for any medical emergency. Food court provided better food with comparison to mess food. The campus was well built and spacious.
Faculty: Faculty members in the college were industry experts as they are from IITs and other deemed institutes. They were helpful enough to students and patient as well. The teaching methods used by them were PPTs and case studies. The course curriculum was quite hectic and rigorous.
Other: The campus crowd was young and energetic. Fests and events organised were a fun part of college. The location of college was the best as it is built on the hills, and the weather was always pleasant.

Best college for MBA oil & gas, energy trading, power management. Not worth for business analytics.
Placements: The placements for our batch is not up to the mark, only three are placed from a batch of 30 so far. All the senior students were placed on a salary ranging from 4 LPA to 6.5 LPA. Companies like Accenture, Infosys, Spicejet, 3 SC Solutions, and many market research-based companies visited the campus for placements. Roles offered to them were a data analyst or business analyst. All the students got internships, but only 70% students got the internship through the college. The highest stipend offered was Rs. 20,000 whereas the lowest was not given the pay. Overall, the placements for creamy students are good. Otherwise, placement for average students and above average students was not up to the mark.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is good on the campus, but not in the hostel. There is only one lab in the management campus, and that was inaugurated in Aug 2017. The classrooms are good, and the library is good. Medical facilities are available in the college and 24 hrs ambulance facility is present. The volleyball court, basketball court, badminton court are present in the campus, while for indoor games, the TT tables are available. Quality of food is not up to the mark in the hostel. The food in the canteen it is quite eatable. As far as I'm concerned Rs. 1,30,000 is quite expensive for a year. The Hostel rooms are good.
Faculty: The course curriculum is changing every year according to the market demand. So, one can get a quite good curriculum, but the faculty are not up to the mark according to the subject in demand today, related to Business Analytics. Though all the faculty are quite experienced in their industry, they were not up to the mark.

Only core sector college of Asia.
Placements: Placements are good. Good companies visit the campus. Eligible are surely placed. Companies do offer PPO even to interns. I-career services give full support to students as they put their whole efforts for placements of the students. In management, BBA sector has 100% placement records as in MBA, it is 96%. The college brings core sector companies in order to get their students placed.
Infrastructure: The best infrastructure with top class facilities. The college has the top rated quality of everything including studies, games, food and best weather as Dehradun is famous for its best weather condition. The campus of UPES is also available in the best campuses in India. Talking about the campus, it is fully Wi-Fi. There are good hostel rooms. 0% ragging college.
Faculty: Faculty members are good and very interactive in nature. UPES has one of the best class qualified faculty members with good skills. Faculty members are very helpful. They are ready to help you at any time. They have good knowledge to guide their students. Their knowledge provides good exposure for the particular sector.

Awesome college! Nice placement and infrastructure.
Placements: The placement was nice. Approximately there were 95% placements from the college. Rest all started their own startup. Minimum salary offered was Rs. 550000 and maximum salary was Rs. 9,00000. IBM, Wipro, Capgemini, 3SC, Dexters and many more companies offered placements. Initially, role of management trainee was offered and later on it got converted to manager and business analyst etc. 100% students got internship opportunity. Rs. 10000 was the minimum stipend and Rs. 18000 was the highest.
Infrastructure: The campus is very well equipped and neat and clean. Internet is awesome and students can use the same any time. The best food is available there. Various vendors are serving food. I did not face any issue related to infrastructure and fooding. In fact, the premises and the location are scenic. I loved staying there for 2 years. Regarding classrooms, they are very well furnished with projectors and screens etc.
Faculty: My experience with the faculty was amazing. I got very good mentors who were there in the industry and were having great experience in the same field. Their real world experiences and examples made our journey of MBA so easy and understandable.

Other: I chose UPES for my MBA in Business Analytics, since there was no prominent college in the country which was providing the course. Also the infrastructure of the university is one of the best you will get. It is often listed in top 10 or 15 most beautiful college campuses in India. Next thing which attracted me towards UPES was the fee. It has relevantly low fee than other similar institutions, and provides better facilities. The life in Dehradun city is awesome. Nearly all of the faculty is top notch especially for business analytics, barring one or two which is the case everywhere but I can say over all experience is very good. I got to know the level of the things I was taught or exposed to when I joined my summer internship. I found that students from many top rated universities have not even heard of things which we are taught. Placements can be a laid down, as what I have seen this year. If you are a good student, you can easily get 7-8 lakhs per annum, but for those who are not that much good at studies, it may be difficult even to get a job in lower brackets of 4-5 lakhs per annum. Over all experience is good, and support from the university is immense. It is still growing and I think it will provide wonderful services in the near future. UPES is now acquired by Laureate International Universities and everything is supposed to match international levels. It is a good place to learn. For engineering and management they have different campuses.
