"Heaven and you are welcome". .
Placements: Nearly 70% of the pass out students have been placed in various companies like TCS, Wipro etc. Rest of the students, including me have enrolled for Masters. The highest package is 7lpa for a fresher and the lowest is 3lpa. Salary negotiation is upto our skills. As I am a Chemistry student, not many topic chemical companies or pharmaceuticals have approached, but the faculty will provide us with links during the vacancies and necessary classes on how to crack an interview. Almost everyone has been alloted for internships and the top being in Dr Reddy's. The more you learn STEM subject, the more of opportunities are exposed. If you are also pursuing Chemistry I would suggest you atleast to take Masters, so that you can opt better opportunities with good remuneration. One of the top roles is Chemist, then quality checker of food companies.
Infrastructure: For M.Sc. . students, they provide individual chair and table and for Bachelors its long bench and desk. The classrooms are clean with proper ventilation, fans and light. We have a well maintained seminar hall with screen, air conditioner etc. Students have free to Wi-Fi and 30 systems are provided for us in the internet corner of the campus. Quality labs with good infrastructure and all the chemical reagents as well as instrumentation. Talking about library, its the largest library in the list of colleges in Kerala consisting of 1,16,000 books in total. Almost all the study related books are available which makes easy for M.Sc. . students because we don't have any prescribed single textbook. The syllabus is given and for each subject, the university refers atleast 12 international sellers and multiple copies of them are available in the library .
Faculty: I have to precisely talk about the teaching faculty as most of the teachers are graduated from IIT and almost 97% of the teachers hold Ph.D. and their own publishments for Chemistry textbooks especially for B.Sc. students. They help us a lot during the completion of course, let it be seminars, project submission etc. For our convenience, they provide notes in class as well as share the slides in Google classroom in case any of us miss the class. 3 to 4 industrial trips are conducted during our course duration ( eg : KMML, Rubber factory in Kottayam etc. ). The overall pass percentage of college is 80% and the pass percentage of our department in particular is 87%. Yes, I do agree the exams are tough especially when its STEM subjects like Chemistry Physics etc. But we can pass through easily as we have options in question paper. The passmark to attain in theory is 28 out of 80 for UG students and 30/75 for PG students.
Other: From my higher secondary school days, I loved Chemistry and I used to watch the colour changing reactions which teachers showed us in the labs. Pharmaceuticals is one major field I am looking forward as a Chemistry student. Right now I am doing my Masters, and I know well how chemicals can be good and bad to us. I am planning to launch a lip balm outlet of my own which reduces the pigmentation of lips. I wish if Chemistry field get as much value and recognition as other fields. Campus organises more than 50 events a year including film promotions, food fest, Holi, onam celebration, film festival, arts and cultural fest, Sports day etc. Campus surroundings are clean and quite vast. In total of 1 crore 54 Lacs of scholarships are granted in our college as there are nearly 4000 students studying. Talking about extracurricular activities, college and faculty promotes us for arts and cultural fests mainly because along with the exposition of our talent, we also get marks.
