Review of St. Xavier's College Kolkata.
Placements: Placements at SXC are pretty good with a salary package of 4 LPA - 24 LPA. Companies like EY, KPMG, PWC, DE Shaw, Axella, Futures First, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, Ei, Deloitte, Asian Paints, etc., visit the college. The list of companies is pretty long. Roles offered are audit, tax, and finance.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is pretty old because it is a heritage institution. It has all the modern facilities inside. The library is very good and worth it. The hostel is pretty old. It does not have air conditioners and washing machines. The food is not very good.
Faculty: Our faculty members are good, but some of them are very old-fashioned. All of them are highly qualified and knowledgeable. The curriculum is according to the latest NEP and makes students ready to adapt to any situation. Semesters are a bit difficult. If students study, they can score good marks easily.
Other: The course is very good for students taking up CA as it matches the CA course. The best thing about the B.Com course is that we have the morning classes from 10:00 Am, so students get the entire day to study. The course is overall good but more industrial visits could improve it. Xavotsav is the main event of SXC and also one of the best fests in Kolkata.

It offers one of the best student lives, as long as we are in Science or Arts.
Placements: The highest salary package from my senior batch was around 20 LPA at DeShaw, likely for an HR or Software Development role. The average salary package offered is around 5 LPA-7 LPA. There are many recruiters, from L&T to Axis Bank. The placement cell is very active and helpful, although it is filled with stringent regulations.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is top-notch, old but classic, and durable. Labs are modern and well-equipped. Our college houses one of the oldest libraries in the zone, and it is very much worth visiting. One could easily find themselves lost in the library but don't worry, as there is always someone like-minded nearby to help or guide us.
Faculty: Faculty members are very professional. Semesters become more difficult as the course progresses, particularly from the second year onwards. The course curriculum is relevant, yet it feels a bit backdated at times. However, if we trust the process, everything falls into place with time. Students are industry-ready by the end of this course, though there could be more improvements in this area.
Other: There's always something going on—an event, seminar, or sports league. There's something for everyone here, with various clubs ranging from social work to sports and from business to public speaking. Fests are amazing, with a great lineup every year. It's located on Park Street, surrounded by limitless pubs and cafes, so the after-college vibe is lively. The best thing about this course is my peers, who are more excellent than me, creating a very competitive yet helpful environment.

Extremely Strenuous but alright.
Placements: Only about 5 out of 65 students were placed through our college, moreover in subpar roles as assistants and entry-level technicians, both audio and video. There were no major players except TOI and Hindu as recruiters, and the packages were modest at best.
Infrastructure: All the labs and studios were above average, with decent equipment and furnished with the latest tech. We had iMacs to edit on individually and other sophisticated devices too. The canteen is okayish and modest but tends to lack healthier options, honestly.
Faculty: The teachers were all qualified, but in my opinion, some of them had an ineffective approach to teaching, making the material mundane and boring. To an extent, you may feel industry-ready if you want to focus on filmmaking. The difficulty is not much, and only one student had backlogs at the end of the course.
Other: Fests are fun and lively. Make sure to be a part of the organizing, as there is plenty of scope for everyone to do something. There is a lot of politics and drama, so people should anticipate and read carefully in that regard.

B.A. in General - Batch of 2026

This college will totally satisfy you and it will help you in every field to showcase your talent.
Placements: Every deserving student gets placement after the completion of the degree. So, the placement is very good. The highest placement, which I know, is of a student from the B.A. department, and it's 21 LPA. He got placement in TCS. Almost every deserving student gets placed every year, but it depends on the capacity of the student and how much package they get.
Infrastructure: Everything is very good at the hostel, and everything should be done in a very well-mannered way. There are two hostels in the college: one is for girls and the other is for boys. In the hostel, we have a mess, library, and a sports room. If you want to play outdoor games, you can play in the hostel because there is enough space to play outdoor games.
Faculty: Everything is already planned. The college authorities launch a calendar in which the fixed dates are given. Teachers are very supportive and helpful. Semester exams are not very tough because everything is already covered by the teacher, so you won’t be panicked during the exam, and there is very relevant checking of exams.
Other: I chose this college because of its respect in society, and when I joined, I came to know that there is nothing fake in that respect. The respect that the college gained in society is because of the college authorities, teachers, and our alumni, as they all are doing well in their fields.

Really satisfying faculty, good placement, really good infrastructure for both hostel and college.
Placements: B.A. General has three major subjects: English, Sociology, and Political Science, and minor subjects like Journalism, ENVS, and Personality Development. So, in my opinion, it is a good course for students who want to prepare for civil services or any other competitive exams.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available all over the campus, and classrooms are equipped with projectors and smart boards. Classrooms are modern, with comfortable seating and multimedia tools to support proper interaction. The mess and canteen provide good food according to our necessity.
Faculty: Teachers are really helpful and friendly in nature. B.A. General focuses not only on one discipline but gives us the scope in social studies, with subjects like Journalism, ENVS, Personality Development, and major subjects like Politics, Sociology, and English.
Other: The best thing about B.A. General is it focuses on multiple subjects, which is really helpful for civil services.

Review of my wonderful college.
Placements: There are no placements for Physics Honours. Other departments, like Biotechnology and Commerce, have placements every year. For Physics, it is better to go for higher studies, such as doing a Master's, Ph.D., and postdoctoral research.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is very good. Laboratory instruments are not so well maintained. Wi-Fi facility is available, and library is very good. Almost all kinds of books are available. Food quality in the canteen is not so good every day, but for daily purposes, it is acceptable.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly qualified, but some are not very good. Others are very student-friendly and help everyone grasp things easily. Semester exams are moderate to tough. Pass percentage is 26%. Students also become well-versed in various computational aspects of Physics.
Other: I chose this course as I want to go for research in Physics. There are a lot of career opportunities for this course.
