Q:   How successful is the placement cell in securing jobs for B.A. students at St. Xaviers College Ranchi?

    A:
    {Source: B.A. students & alumni}

Success Rate of Placement Cell for B.A. Students

Based on the reviews from students and alumni, it appears that the placement cell at St. Xaviers College Ranchi does not specifically cater to B.A. students. Here's what the feedback suggests:

    * "There is no placement cell for arts" - [Student]
    * "B.A. in sociology is an honours course.when it comes to placements, with this degree, one doesn't take placements but pursues higher degrees for clearing NET and UPSC exams." - [Alumni]
    * "We have to go for general placement" - [Student]

It seems that B.A. students do not receive targeted assistance from the placement cell, and instead, rely on general placement processes. This might result in a lower success rate for placements.

    Conclusion
While the college has a reputation for providing good infrastructure and facilities, the placement cell's effectiveness for B.A. students appears to be limited. Students pursuing B.A. programs may face challenges in finding employment opportunities and may require additional effort to secure placements.

    Good for government job aspirants.
Placements: A great number of students participate in sociology honors, especially for the UPSC exam. No placement in sociology. No internship. Only sociology knowledge in depth, with conceptual clarity. Professors are cooperative, students are friendly, and people help each other.
Infrastructure: Yes, we get Wi-Fi, labs, a library, and a good classroom. Hostels are good, food is average, medical facilities are average, and sports and games facilities are good. It has a good park, good food, fewer restrictions, and freedom. You can easily spend time with your friends.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers are knowledgeable, helpful, qualified, and supportive. Yes,  the course is relevant for UPSC aspirants. Semester exams are moderate to hard. But with regular classes and knowledge, you can easily pass all the semester exams comfortably.
Other: Preparation is optional for UPSC. It helps to prepare for the UPSC exam. The college should focus on using modern technology in teaching. Events are regularly organized.

    Review of St. Xavier's College.
Placements: It is a regular graduation degree, and students from this stream generally take civil service exams. Our college placements are not good. Some companies hire students from our department as political authors or political scientists. At the same time, after completing an M.A. degree, one can become a professor at the college.
Infrastructure: Our college provides good infrastructure. All facilities are available. Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus. Many books are available in the library. Classrooms are well-equipped with CCTV cameras and ventilators. Projectors are installed in our classrooms. We have a well-structured hostel with all the amenities, like water supply and generator facilities. The quality of food in the mess and canteen is good. Medical facilities are available. An ambulance is available to take students to the hospital in emergency cases. Our college has proper sports facilities like a basketball court, football court, a badminton court, and a huge ground for all other sports. We have a proper games room equipped with all the game equipment and other indoor games like carrom, chess, table tennis, etc. Students are free to access these at any time.
Faculty: Our teachers are very diligent, helpful, and responsible. They are well qualified. Most of them are M.A. or Ph.D. holders. The teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is relevant as it helps us learn the subject and demands a deep analysis of the relevant issues. This helps us engage more in the subject and makes it more interesting. Semester exams are average. Questions are well structured and require a thorough study of the subject. The pass percentage is 40%.
Other: I chose this course because of its vast scope. This course always provides me with a plan B in life. The best thing about our course is that I am studying information that I have already read in classes 11 and 12, which makes it more interesting for me. The course should be more informative and analytical. The syllabus for many semesters seems to be somewhat repetitive. Our college celebrates festivals every year. Various events are held regularly, like women's day celebrations, science days, aids protection campaigns, and seminars. Our college organises various other events like dramas, skits, and dance performances. Scholarships are available for ST, SC, OBC, and EWS categories.

The college is good for BAJMC.
Placements: I am doing B.A. JOURNALISM and it is a good course. The infrastructure of this college is good, and the faculty members are also very supportive and helpful. Even in studies, it's good, but they won't give you placement; however, they will help you find an internship programme.
Infrastructure: In my department, I really like the infrastructure. There are so many high-tech cameras, and even the computers are from Apple. The studios are very good. We have 2 canteens and a play zone. There is even a snooker table, and the play zone is very good. The library is also very nice.
Faculty: Exams are taken by the examination department, and it's not that hard. It's good, but the college is strict about attendance and has strict exam rules. However, if you study, you can manage the exams. It's not that hard, and even the faculty members will help you.
Other: The college arranges so many activities. There are many clubs, such as NSS, NCC, and many more.

I am not satisfied with this college.
Placements: Only 2% of students were placed. There are no placements. The college only provides a NOC, and students must find internships on their own.
Infrastructure: It has a good campus. Classrooms are good. Only girls have a medical room. Lab equipments are old. The library has a good, quiet environment.
Faculty: Some teachers are helpful and well-qualified with great knowledge. The teaching quality seems to be average. The course curriculum seems to be relevant.
Other: They conduct sports events on a regular basis.

    Review of St. Xavier's College.
Placements: In our course, no one gets placed. Placements are not good. Internships are provided for just a few.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is not available for students. We have 2 labs. One is excellent, while the other is not good. A library is provided. Hostels are only for boys, especially for SC and ST boys. There are three canteens and a clinic is available. The campus is good. It is hygienic and fresh. You can find plants everywhere, which is very good.
Faculty: Teachers are good but they teach basic. Semester exams are done well. They try to pass everyone. Every semester they include one extra paper, which is good. In our college, intermediate classes happen. The campus is very good.
Other: I chose this course for interior design, but teachers didn't teach it well till now. I'd like to improve the quality of teaching. After the pandemic, events haven't happened at college. Sports competition happens. I have participated in a few, which is good.

Xavier ki Shiksha, with no placements.
Placements: Our college don't provide any placements or internships. The course don't provide internships. We get no placements in our college. We get no placements in our college. We get no placements in our college. We get no placements in our college. We get no placements in our college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good. Every classroom has a smart board to study, we also have Wi-Fi in the college. Our library provides us access to more than 5000 books. Now lets talk about the hostel it has lots of facilities like playground to play, study hall to study, good food in mess. And all the students live happily together in hostel. Also we have good sports faculty that gives us opportunity to shine and show our strength in sports. There are various sports events organised like football, cricket, badminton, tennis, chess, volleyball, basketball.
Faculty: The teachers here are full of knowledge and ready to teach the students in a very playful and easy manner. They just don't teach us to gain bookish knowledge but also to gain the experience and knowledge from real world. The course curriculum is relevant and it makes the students industry ready to shape their future in a proper manner. The semester exam in college is difficult for those who don't study or pay attention in the class. As almost 80% students pass the examination with 0 back papers.
Other: I chose this course for the betterment for my future as I love to study economics and always eager to know about the economical facts and about its studies. The best thing about my course is I find it enjoyable while studying. The only thing that should be improved in my course is about the attendance criteria of 75%. I don't like it at all. There are various events organised almost every week in the college. The main event is the Xavier Fest held on the month of March or April. It is the grand event of our college.
