MBA in Operations Management - Batch of 2022
4.4
5Placements4Infrastructure4Faculty4Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
A college with better placements, curriculum, and good campus life.
Placements: SIOM has a 100% placement track record. All the information provided on the website related to placement is valid. There are no inflated figures. Deloitte, USI, MCK & Company, EY, etc. are top recruiters. Consulting roles are offered the most in FTE, followed by data analytics profiles. There are fewer Plant operations profiles. However, this institute is best suited for those who want to get placed in consulting firms.
Infrastructure: The facilities provided are excellent. The only issue aspirants can have is the campus size, it is very compact. The library has the latest set of books available right from novels to competitive examinations like CSCP, PMP, etc., The food can be rated average but healthy and it depends upon one's taste. The rooms, Wi-Fi and the rest are good. There is no problem with campus life.
Faculty: It has a holistic curriculum, however, teaching can be rated as average. You have to work by yourself a lot. Semester exams were online, so it went easy for the batch. Grooming is in the student's hands, no one will spoon-feed you. Try to make an all-rounder profile by participating in events, being part of committees, and maintaining a GPA of around 7.5 to 8.0. Placements however are not completely dependent on marks but it is always a plus point.
Other: It has a student exchange program that allows you to study outside India.

This is one of the best colleges to pursue operations management course.
Placements: Placements provided in the college are very good. Students should have some work experience to get good salary packages. Placements provided for earlier batches were really good, i.e., almost 99% of the students got placed through college placements. Most of the students got PPO offers. All the students get internships from college. Companies like Deloitte and many others provide a good stipend for the students who are doing internships.
Infrastructure: The campus area is small but provides good environment and culture for the students to study. The campus is clean and well-managed. Health and hygiene factors are given priority. Gym and healthcare centre are provided for students. Won and Krona (two labradors) are also available.
Faculty: The course curriculum is the best if you are seeking for core operations management. The required for the course are provided right from the first semester. The college also focuses on making the students corporate ready.

MBA in Operations Management - Batch of 2017

SIOM-a nice college and a complete package for growing in the operations domain of the industry.
Placements: The placements of our batch and our senior batch were good, with more than 95% of students getting placed. The highest package was around 21 LPA and 17 LPA, and the average package was around 9.75 LPA, and the lowest was around 5.5 LPA. Companies from various domains like manufacturing, consulting, FMCG, e-commerce, logistics, supply chain and IT visited the campus. Some notable recruiters were Deloitte, Inspirage, Bosch, Godrej and Boyce, Amazon, General Mills, DHL, Trident, VMware, Accenture, etc. The roles offered were mainly core profiles relating to domain consultant, SCM consultant, SCM manager, logistics manager, programme management, operations manager, etc. Internships are provided to all the students. The highest stipend offered was close to Rs. 60,000 per month. The placement cell works efficiently to track and attract companies to the campus.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good for the student capacity intake. The campus covers around 2 acres but has all the facilities like gym, library, IT labs, Wi-Fi, medical facility (doctor consultation), basketball court, table tennis, chess, badminton court, etc. Classrooms are well maintained and good for conducting lectures and classes. The hostel accommodates three people in one room and is spacious enough. There is a good environment and regular cleaning activities in the hostel rooms. The quality of food in the mess is good, and the taste generally varies. Reading room for combined studies is also available.
Faculty: The faculty and guest faculty members are mostly well qualified and proficient in the subjects. Some don't have the level to engage the students and clarify the issues. Sometimes, students face the problem of getting only class-based education and not industry-based learning. The curriculum is industry specific, well organised and spread across 4 semesters. Guest faculty members are from the industry and provide good insights. Live projects and industry visits are carried out for better engagements.
Other: There are various events which are organised throughout the year. The annual event is a business fest which has b-school competitions and cultural events as well. Domain-specific events for project management, marketing, finance, SCM conference, HR event, etc., are held. Students are also encouraged and supported in taking part in other b-school events, publishing research papers, conducting live projects, etc.

It's worth joining the SIOM if you are the enthusiast for the operation management.
Placements: The placement for the batch has been amazing with the highest CTC reaching 17 LPA, and approximately 90% of the students has been placed till now (Jan-2018). The roles offered to the students are majorly for consulting as supply chain consultant, business analyst, SAP consultant, operation manager, catalogue manager, etc. The company names are not specified because of the confidentiality, till the report gets published on the official college website. A few familiar companies that regularly visit SIOM are Deloitte Consulting, Amazon, VMWare, TCS, etc., (more information regarding the same is available on the college website). Regarding the internship, SIOM provides the internship to 100% of the students through the campus interviews. The SIOM do have the placement cell, that governs all the placement related activities along with the faculty in charge. My experience regarding the summer internship has been amazing, useful, and relevant to the operations and supply chain knowledge we gained here has helped me during the placement interviews.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is average. It is 100% residential campus, and all the fees include everything starting from accommodation, food, exam fees, few certification, and six-sigma training. The IT lab and the library are well-maintained, and resource is available in abundance for an individual to learn and grow. Regarding the sports, the college does not have much space except for a few, like a basketball court, indoor badminton court, TT, and swimming pool. The medical facilities are available on the campus with a doctor visiting every alternate day. A laundry shop, as well as photocopy, is available. A separate hostel facility for boys and girls are available inside the campus, with three students sharing a room. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled but not consistent in few places, but manageable.
Faculty: The faculty members for the few courses like economics, finance, HR, operation research, lean management, supply chain management, etc. are good, and for few subjects, the faculty members are average and need to be improved by the college. For few subjects, the visiting faculty members teach the course, and the lectures are good. The course curriculum is excellent and won accolades for the best course curriculum in the operations management. The college provides the capstone business simulation that can groom the students to understand the business activities and provides a few other simulation for the project management, finance, etc. by HBR simulation. There is a six-sigma project mandatory for all the students and on successful completion awarded the Green Belt.
Other: The campus surroundings are average with the basic amenities like grocery shop, hospitals, and a few small food joints are available outside the campus. The SIOM organises a lot of events like HR summit, Tattv(platform for knowledge sharing student and industry professional), and Drishti annual cultural event. Moreover, the guests from the different industrial background invited. Apart from that, we have the sports fest conducted once a year. The students studying in the campus are from the different parts of the country. The college scholarships provided to those students, who excel in the academics.
