On Fees Breakdown

Q:   What are the fees for A.M.E. programmes at Thakur Institute of Aviation Technology?

A:

Established in 2006, TIAT is a private aviation technology institute. Kandivali East, Mumbai, Maharashtra-based Institute of Aviation Safety has received approval from both the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of the Government of India, New Delhi, and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Thakur Institute of Aviation Technology offers the B.Sc. program, industrial Science diploma, and Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) program, which is accredited by Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University. The admission process is merit-based. The application form for admission to TIAT is available at the college office and on the official college website. Upon successfully completing the training program, students receive a Certificate of Recognition. Numerous aviation organizations come to this institute to select candidates on campus; however, the selection process is based only on the students' academic performance during their studies and the number of DGCA module exams they pass. The college's brochure makes nice-sounding claims about placements at airlines like Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airlines, and so on, but those claims are not at all accurate.

TIAT, Mumbai offers a two-year on-campus Diploma in aircraft maintenance engineering. Applications for admission to the two-year, full-time Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Program must have been submitted through an accredited board at the intermediate or 10+2 level. There is a 1000 rupee admission fee. Additionally, the annual tuition is 3.25 lakhs.

A brief introduction of Thakur Institute of Aviation Technology.
Placements: Almost all students who focus on their studies get placed. The top recruiting companies include Air India, Indamer, Indigo, and others. The average package varies based on the position. For instance, if you become a Trainer A.M.E. (Aircraft Maintenance Engineer), the starting salary is around INR 45,000 per month.
Infrastructure: The library is excellent, quiet, and well-stocked with both hard and soft copies of books relevant to A.M.E. studies. Borrowing books is easy and convenient.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful when addressing doubts, and their teaching style is smooth and easy to understand, even for weaker students. While semester exams are manageable, students must focus more on DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) modules, which are conducted 3-4 times a year.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in aircraft, and since I had already completed a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, I felt this was the best way to achieve my dream. There's no significant campus crowd here, but the course content is fulfilling.

It has good infrastructure, but the management needs to be improved.
Placements: The college is not so good for placements. During admission, they guarantee us jobs. But it is totally different from what they say. It depends on your hard work. But the good part is that you will have a chance to get a job in Europe.
Infrastructure: Our college has one of the best infrastructures and air-conditioned classrooms. The classrooms have 2 big digital screens. The college has both digital and normal libraries for students.
Faculty: It is not so difficult to pass the exams. 13 modules need to be cleared, which depends on the category you select. All exams are conducted by EASA (European Aviation Safety and Agency). The passing percentage is 75%. To be eligible for exams, one should have 90% attendance.

Instructors and classrooms are the best in this institute.
Placements: Avionics (electronic) and mechanical students got placed. The college also offers EASA course, which is for Europe. But that course is very expensive, because of high licensing fees. The college is very supportive during internships and placements worldwide, especially our Chetna ma'am was very helpful.
Infrastructure: The college has amazing infrastructure and high-tech facilities. The college is well-equipped with Wi-Fi and cafeterias. The college has a library with almost every aviation book possible. Medical facilities are available.
Faculty: Every semester, exams are conducted. The pass percentage is almost 100%. It is because of the instructors. Even we have some module exams, so the college also conducts separate preparation classes after normal lectures.
Other: Tata Financial offers good scholarships to the students.

A.M.E course is difficult. There is average management, and there are no placements.
Placements: There are very less vacancies in this field, and our college can't make much effort for that. It's not the fault of our college but the fault of our authority. However, this college is good for education but has poor management. The college doesn't help much in placements, and it's the same case in every college.
Infrastructure: Our college has good infrastructure and facilities. There is a well-structured library, and the computer labs are top-notch. Overall, our college is good. There is no playground and no curricular activities despite charging a high fee. There is a good hangar, but practicals conducted by them are not worth it.
Faculty: Exams conducted by our college are not very helpful. The education provided here is good, but it's not very helpful in clearing modules. Our college module system is poor, and they don't think much about students. The quality of teaching is average, and there need to be good instructors as many of them resigned from the college.
Other: The fee of our college is very high.

Infrastructure is very good.
Placements: In our course, 100% of the students got placed. Air India, GoAir and many others are the recruiters. Mostly, we get an internship from college, but for that, students' grades also matter. In the previous year, 100% of the students got an internship. The top role offered is in AME.
Infrastructure: There are different types of labs, and all are maintained very well. We have two planes and a model Boeing 747, which is a very good thing for learning. The canteen is divided into two parts of which one is like a cafe, which is very good, and the other is like the basic one.
Faculty: Teachers here are highly qualified professionals. Some of them are retired from the Indian airforce who have a very deep knowledge of aviation which is very helpful for us. It is a practical-based course, which makes us industry-ready in college only.

It is a great college to pursue aviation course.
Placements: As I am studying now, our college provides us with actual environment training. In companies like GoAir and Air India, we are allowed to gain hands-on practice on actual aircraft and real-time experience. For placements, many companies visit our college like Indigo, SpiceJet, Emirates, etc.
Infrastructure: Facilities of the laboratory are very eminent here, and there are also a virtual reality lab and a flight simulator. Our college also has a well-maintained hangar. It has a model of Boeing 747 aircraft where students can work upon and study about its parts and functioning. There are 3 to 4 hostels, and out of which, some hostels are well-maintained and clean. Our college has a good cafe and a canteen, which serve food at affordable prices.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are very helpful in guiding the students, and their explanation is also very good. Their method of teaching is good. As there are good teachers, it is easy to understand. Knowledge of the teachers is also good as they are well-experienced. Some professors have worked in the industry for many years.
Other: It is a great course in the industry to start a career. As many aircraft going to available in the future, job opportunities are going to increase. In the aviation industry also, you can always aspire to make your career. I wish that students must be provided with more practical training along with the theoretical training so that they will have the hands-on practice to understand well and also the outcome would be better with great interest of the students in studying. Many events are organised at our college. You will frequently notice a lot of film shootings inside the campus.
