The first thing that will impress anyone in VGSOM is the crowd and the campus life. It has a humongous library to start with. For the lesser geeks, you name the games, indoor or outdoor and IIT Kharagpur has the facilities. It has about 20 eateries including the canteens. Good college with a good pedigree. It doesn't rank as high as it should in the eyes of aspirants due to the location. Companies come to IIT Kharagpur for B.Tech placements but due to difference in placement calendar, they usually don't come to IIT Kharagpur for placements of other courses. Hence, only companies with a history and association with the college visits.
Placements: The batch strength is always around 125 students. Placements are really good here as our college provides 100% placements every year. So placements are never a problem here. Roles offered in the field of consulting, analytics, marketing and operations are very nice.
