Q:   Is B.Sc. at Vivekananda College a good choice?

    A:
    {Source: B.Sc. students & alumni}

Based on the reviews and feedback from current students and alumni, here's a summary of the pros and cons:

    Pros:

    * Good infrastructure: The college has a huge campus with a beautiful garden, a large library, and modern classrooms.
    * Friendly and helpful faculty: Many students praised the faculty members for being supportive, knowledgeable, and approachable.
    * Industry-ready curriculum: The course curriculum focuses on making students industry-ready, with a focus on developing problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
    * Good location: The college is well-connected by public transport, with multiple metro lines nearby.

    Cons:

    * Limited placement opportunities: While the college claims to have a moderate placement record, many students reported struggling to find jobs after graduating.
    * Low salaries: The starting salaries offered to students were reportedly low, ranging from INR15,000 to INR50,000 per month.
    * No hostel facilities: Unfortunately, the college does not have on-campus accommodation options, which may be inconvenient for out-of-town students.
    * Limited internships: Few companies visit the campus for internships, and the ones that do tend to offer limited opportunities.
    * Poor laboratory conditions: Some students mentioned that the laboratories were still under construction during their time at the college, leading to inadequate practical training.

In conclusion, while Vivekananda College offers a good educational experience with supportive faculty and modern infrastructure, its limitations in terms of placement opportunities, salaries, and internship availability may deter some students. Ultimately, the decision to choose this college depends on individual priorities and goals.

In love with the faculties and college, the best environment for education with better facilities.
Placements: Our course consists of 50 students, and the total number of enrolled students is 2200. It has its own placement cell, and different companies started by their ex-students provide us with the best platform for internships. They help us to enlighten different skills and help to make a different version of ourselves.
Infrastructure: It consists of smartboards, and every class has a projector. It has very airy classrooms with a total of 15 fans in each class. New benches and desks are provided, and the campus is very clean, covered with plants and trees. It also has a sports ground and a big auditorium, with the best canteen I have ever seen.
Faculty: Math department teachers are very skilled. They are very much attractive and focused. They are friendly and interactive with students, keeping them updated with all the notifications, notices, and curriculum. They teach in a very different manner, which is much more interesting.

Dissatisfied with the college and management.
Placements: From my course, none of the students got the chance for any internship or placement, as there were mostly commerce-based companies. The maximum package was offered by only one company that had visited for our course, which was for the receptionist role at Oberoi Hotels with a package of 6–8 LPA .
Infrastructure: For our course, the labs were under construction when we joined 3 years ago and were under construction when we left the college after completing graduation. So there were no proper labs and the classrooms were poor. It was tough to sit in the class in the summer.
Faculty: Most of the semester there were no teachers; at the end of the semester, the teachers used to join and the study material used to be printed from the IGNOU syllabus. The exams were not too tough; it was easy to pass the exam just by studying one night before.
Other: I chose this course to understand the depth of this industry but the college I chose was wrong; the labs should have been provided for practicals, and the study materials should have been provided by the teachers. There were some teachers who used to do that but mostly suggested studying from Google; the fest and campus crowd are too bad; there is no faculty support for any event or anything.

It is the best college in terms of faculty members, infrastructure, and sports facilities.
Placements: Very few companies visited the campus. The average salary package was low. You cannot expect good placements, but you can definitely expect a life experience with numerous memories.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was very good. This was one of the best things about this college. The college used to have a hostel. It is closed. There are no hostel facilities now. There are many hostels, PGs, and flats nearby. You can easily get them. The campus was huge. Sports facilities were very good. I would recommend it to athletes.
Faculty: Faculty members were great. Faculty members here were better than those at the north campus colleges as they were very friendly and helpful. They make you feel like you are at home. There was no academic pressure as the teachers were very supportive and flexible regarding anything.

I'm dissatisfied with faculty members and facilities.
Placements: Placement cell of our college was very inactive. Around 1 to 2 companies visited our college to offer placements. Around 2% to 3% of students got placements. Our college should provide many placement opportunities.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college was average. Wi-Fi was not accessible to students if the password was not known but Wi-Fi worked well in computer labs. There were 3 computer labs in our college. The library was spacious with many books but the books were old and not in very good condition. Food served in the canteen caused food poisoning, typhoid, and diarrhea. I never used medical facilities, so can't say anything about it.
Faculty: Mathematics department consisted of 10 to 11 professors of which 4 to 5 taught students in an understandable manner and 2 to 3 were ad-hoc professors. Senior professors were extremely arrogant and biased. They never cleared the doubts of the students. They just focused on completing the syllabus. I do not recommend students to join this college for the Maths honors course. The pass percentage is a bit high.
Other: Events and festivals were good in our college. It organised events once within three years of my graduation. Fests were below average. Students union always struggled in getting enough funds from the principal for the fests. It was not part of the two main campuses, north and south. Campus surroundings and crowd were good.

Review of Vivekananda College, University of Delhi.
Placements: About 70%-80% of students were placed from our course. The highest salary package offered was 4 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was 2 LPA. Top recruiting companies here are Genpact, HCL and Deloitte. About 50% of students or more got internships from our course in Genpact, Ernst and Young, Bajaj Capital, Yes Bank, Tour ex, third sectors partners and many more.
Infrastructure: Facilities are good here except for Wi-Fi. Our college garden is huge, which is the biggest part of the attraction. The library is huge and has all the books and is open throughout college hours. The food served in the canteen is also satisfactory. Sports and games facilities are superb. There is a huge ground for games also.
Faculty: Faculty members here are very helpful and supportive. They are qualified and knowledgeable. They help students in every situation. The course curriculum makes students industry-ready as the teachers here help in growing our personality as well as mental thinking. Teachers here are the real gurus.
Other: I was interested in this course, so I chose it. The best thing is it helps in everyday life, and in every sector, math is important. In our course, everything is fine. All fests, events and webinars are organised.

It has satisfying teachers, poor placements, good infrastructure and average event organisation.
Placements: Since there has been a pandemic, there were no placements or recruitment. But usually, the placement percentage is very low. Even if placements are conducted, the salary packages offered are very low. None of the companies visits here to offer internships.
Infrastructure: There is no hostel facility here. It is a girls' college. However, the rest of the facilities are up to the mark. Wi-Fi facility is provided, and the classrooms are well-equipped. The food offered in the canteen is also pocket-friendly to students. There is a proper lab facility, and all systems work well. There is a 3-storeyed library, which provides different sections for every department.
Faculty: Teaching faculty members here are very helpful and determined. In the mathematics department, mostly teachers are very helpful and teach thoroughly. I feel the course curriculum is relevant only for further studies like if you want to pursue M.Sc or other higher studies. Semester exams are not very tough. If you attend daily classes and do a little bit of self-study, you can easily score good marks. There is a fixed exam pattern just as CBSE board. Non-practical exams are conducted for 100 marks, and passing marks out of them are 33. Practical exams are conducted for 70 marks with passing marks as 23, including 30 marks of practicals.
Other: I chose maths Hons because I was interested in studying mathematics further. The best thing about this course is that it does not need learning skills. You need to understand the concept, and you can gain everything. Whatever is studied in books is never taught how to apply in real life, so it should be improved. Although most science work requires mathematical operations and equations, they never explained them to us practically. The fest is organised once a year, and many other events are celebrated. Fairs are organised. Scholarships are provided to an academically top student of EACJ department. There are different societies for extracurricular activities. You can enroll them as per your interest after attending an audition.
