Established with a prime motive to offer education in the field of Mass Communication, Xavier School of Communications (XCOMM) is a component of Xavier University Bhubaneswar that came into existence in 2015. Located in the picturesque campus of XUB (city campus), all the courses offered by this institute are recognised by UGC. It currently offers UG, PG and doctoral programmes in the area of Mass Communication. The teaching pedagogy followed by XCOMM imbibes in its students a combination of technical know-how and, conceptual skills and artistic expression.
With state-of-the-art facilities for students to relish, the institute houses a studio, a professional audio and video studio, a shooting floor, an online TV production set-up, a green room, and a lobby along with edit suits. In addition to this, the cameras, software and technology used at XCOMM are modern and industry-specific.

Xavier School of Communications Admission Process
XCOMM admission process for all its courses is conducted via online mode. Applicants need to fill the application form available on the official website of XUB (www.xub.edu.in) and then follow the course-wise admission process as mentioned below:
UG course
- For BSc (Hons) in Mass Communication, final selection takes place on the basis of performance in the aptitude test/ SOP, followed by a Personal Interview (PI) round
- In addition to this, candidates’ performance in Class 10 and Class 12 along with creative works (such as artworks, news items, photography & videography, campaigns, event coordination, leadership, acting skills, music and other) are also taken into consideration for admission to BSc (Hons) in Mass Communication
PG course
- Eligible candidates need to appear for a written test/ write an SOP and appear for PI at the school of communications/over skype for admission to MA in Mass Communication
- Final selection to MA in Mass Communication is based on the performance in the aptitude test, SOP, PI, past academic performance and other curricular activities such as artworks, news items, photography and videography, campaigns, event coordination, leadership, acting skills, music and others
PhD course
- For both full-time and part-time PhD programmes, candidates are shortlisted based on their academic records and SOP. Shortlisted candidates are required to appear for Xavier Research Aptitude Test (X-RAT), subject test (if applicable), a presentation followed by a PI round.

Xavier School of Communications offers UG, PG and doctoral level programmes in the field of Mass Communication.
- BSc (Hons) in Mass Communication is a three-year full-time programme spread over six semesters

The final merit score used to select students comprises of weightages of the academic score of qualifying degree (30%), written test (aptitude test for the course and general knowledge in the field of media- 30%), credentials supporting creative works of the students (10%,) and personal interview (30%).
