September 05, 2024: In honor of the 132nd birth anniversary of Padma Shri Dr. S. R. Ranganathan (Father of Indian Library Science), XLRI Jamshedpur celebrates ‘National Librarians’ Day’ at the Sir Jehangir Ghandy Library on August 14, 2024. The celebration was highlighted by Chief Guest Fr. S. George S.J., Director of XLRI, who honored Dr. Ranganathan by garlanding his portrait. Guest of Honour Shri Ravi Shankar Shukla IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Seraikela Kharsawan, Jharkhand, and Prof. Giridhar Ramachandran from the Marketing Area, along with Mr. D.T. Edwin, Head of the Library, also paid their respects.
Fr. S. George, S.J., introduces the ‘Discovery Service’ and ‘ERMS’. Shri Ravi Shankar Shukla IAS unveiled the new Human Library and acknowledged the contributions of librarians. He also awarded prizes for the Library Quiz held on August 7, 2024, and presented Fr.
S. George with a signed copy of "Covid–19 Governance in India Series – I," a book featuring a chapter co-written by Prof. Giridhar and Shri Shukla on "Technology Interventions for Fighting COVID-19 in East Singhbhum."

Mr. D.T. Edwin highlighted the features of the ‘Discovery Service’, a unified search portal for online resources, and the new Electronic Resource Management System, which streamlines previous manual processes. He also introduced the Human Library, where participants engage directly with individuals. The library staff was honored with gifts in appreciation of their dedication throughout the year.

XLRI Jamshedpur Announced a New Partnership with eVol Founded by XLRI alumni

August 28, 2024: In the 75th foundation year of XLRI Jamshedpur, the institute partnered with eVol. This platform has been founded by XLRI alumni Varun Bhatia and Raghav Singh, with Sudip Mallik who is involved in leading their India operations.

This collaboration aims to provide valuable insights and a fulfilling learning experience to students. It will directly cater to students' problems, which will ultimately enhance the XLRI experience among the learners. The eVol is an innovative platform that has designed proprietary Compasses that explore personal purpose and energy drivers of students.

XAT 2025: Online registration for the Xavier Aptitude Test or XAT 2025 begin on July 15. Interested and eligible candidates can apply for the test on xatonline.in when the process begins. Scores of XAT 2025 will be used by over 160 institutions for admission to their management courses. The exam is scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 5, 2025.

XLRI Jamshedpur Hosted Doctoral Colloquium 2024 on Artificial Intelligence and Sustainability 

July 4, 2024: On April 8-10, 2024, XLRI Jamshedpur arranged a Doctoral Colloquium on the theme of Artificial Intelligence and Sustainability as part of its 75th Year Platinum Jubilee Celebrations. During the 3-day event, 5 countries: India, Nepal, Oman, Spain, and the UK submitted 117 papers.

Over review, 62 papers were visited for presentations - 19 doctoral scholars from XLRI Jamshedpur and 43 doctoral scholars associated with other universities and institutions. The 62 papers were separated across 7 tracks and 14 paper presentation sessions. For each of these seven tracks, there were seven best paper awards given out at the event. During the event's closing ceremony, the winners of the Best Paper awards were announced.

February 23, 2024: XLRI is thrilled to host Disha, the Annual Career Counseling Fair organized by Samarthya, the Human Potential Centre of XLRI. The event aims to aid students in navigating the complexities of career choices and finding their true calling.

Disha 2024–25 took place on February 4th, 2024, at the XLRI campus. The event received substantial support from over 140 XLRI student volunteers, resulting in over 700 registrations and attracting more than 370 students and parents. Notable participation came from schools such as Baldwin High School, DAV, JH Tarapore, and Loyola. Attendees gained valuable insights into various professional career paths, appreciating the opportunity to explore new job prospects and learn from personal experiences.

XLRI successfully conducted the prestigious POMS Conference

January 25,2024: POMS (Production & Operations Management Society) conference held from December 4 to 6, 2023 featured an array of over 160 paper presentations from global researchers, with representation from IIMs, IITs, ISB, and others. Avneesh Gupta, VP of Tata Steel, delivered a gripping keynote address, while eminent professors, including Prof. Vinod Singhal from the Scheller College of Business at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, USA, led interesting workshops. 

Attendees also benefited from a research presentation by Prof. Jayashankar Swaminathan, who has held senior positions in INFORMS, the MSOM Society, and the POMS College of Supply Chain Management. Prof. Subodha Kumar, the Paul R. Anderson Distinguished Chair Professor of Statistics, Operations, and Data Science, delivered a lecture titled "Crafting Excellence: Unveiling Insights for POM Journal," which provided useful insights for both academics and practitioners.

The conference also featured three panel discussions on Carbon Neutrality, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and Digital Supply Chain, with roughly 15 industry leaders participating. XLRI and Tata Steel Foundation Join Forces to Empower Social Impact Leaders with Innovative Online Program

November 8, 2023: On October 12, 2023, XLRI and the Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch and grow their unique, jointly-created online post-graduate certificate program in the social impact industry. In keeping with XLRI's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, this partnership intends to provide an institutionally recognized certificate program that will give participants the tools they need to succeed in the corporate social responsibility (CSR) and social impact management fields in India and around the world over the course of the next ten years. In the presence of Chanakya Chaudhary, Director of the Tata Steel Foundation, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed at the XLRI campus in Jamshedpur by Sourav Roy, CEO of the Tata Steel Foundation, and Fr. S. George, Director of XLRI. This AICTE-approved program will be enhanced by pertinent suggestions and feedback through cooperative efforts at the procedural and programmatic levels.

The 10th Dr Verghese Kurien Memorial Oration on Sustainable Development was held at the Fr. Arrupe Center for Ecology and Sustainability (FACES) at XLRI."Empowering The Next Generation: Taking Action On Climate Change & Sustainability" was the theme of the edition, and Ms. Vaishali Nigam Sinha, Co-Founder, and Chairperson - Sustainability at ReNew, gave the speech. In her powerful talk, Ms. Sinha emphasized the urgent nature of climate change and the fact that practitioners and policymakers are actively working to find answers rather than viewing it as a theoretical problem. She underlined the need to address climate change immediately, brought attention to problems with wildlife and electrical access, and raised awareness of the possible loss of GDP as a result of global warming. The XLRI Director, Fr. S. George, emphasized Dr Kurien's contribution to making dairy farming in India a self-sufficient business. Subsequently, FACES Chairman Dr L Tata Raghu Ram presented programs aimed at advancing sustainable development, such as a Post Graduate Certificate in CSR Leadership. In addition, Dr. Kalyan Bhaskar of XLRI Jamshedpur is currently a member of the Bureau of India Standards' Committee on ESG and Convenor of the Working Group on Circular Economy.

XLRI Jamshedpur Celebrates the Triumph of Daan Utsav 2023: Fostering the Spirit of Giving in Future Leaders

October 31, 2023: With great pleasure, XLRI announces the great success of Daan Utsav 2023, a week-long celebration held annually by the student committee, Social Initiatives Group for Managerial Assistance (SIGMA-oikos), Jamshedpur. The committee's goal is to foster a giving spirit among the institute's future leaders. A few noteworthy highlights of the diverse drives that were arranged as part of this campaign are as follows: 

  • Over 130 people responded to the Wish Tree initiative, which collected supplies for children from NGOs including People Cares and Cheshire Home. The donations included necessities like mattresses, bedsheets, and rations.
  • Clothes Donation Drives: With support from SEEDS Organization, the university collected over 1100 articles of clothing for the less fortunate, boasting a 35% rise over the previous year.
  • At the Uttari Panchayat Bhavan in Kitadih Area, a menstrual awareness campaign was conducted in association with Koru Foundation. The event educated seventy women from neighboring villages about period health and hygiene, and each participant was given a kit of cloth pads.
  • At the Nirmal Hridya and Aashirwad senior living facilities, volunteers engaged with more than 100 seniors during the Gift of Time event, offering companionship and emotional support.

Inauguration of the Platinum Jubilee Year

October 16, 2023: XLRI is thrilled to announce that Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, the Honourable Governor of Jharkhand and the Chief Guest for the gala opening of XLRI's Platinum Jubilee Year, has been given the esteemed "XLRI Platinum Jubilee Award for The Greater Good." The Director and Chairman of XLRI honoured Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan with this prestigious award in honour of his exceptional contributions to society and his persistent commitment to public service. The award ceremony represented XLRI's sincere thanks to those who set an exemplary example and diligently work for the improvement of their community. It was a monumental high point of the event.

The Chief Guest, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, also placed the foundation stone for the Scholars Residence at XLRI Jamshedpur at the event, which was a moment of immense significance. This action signalled the beginning of a new chapter in XLRI's history and demonstrated its dedication to offering outstanding housing and amenities for its scholars. September 22, 2023: The KRONOS - CHRO Conclave, organised by the Conclave Committee of XLRI's PGDM (GM) Batch 2023-24, was an important event in the area of human resources at XLRI Jamshedpur. "HR 4.0: Thriving with AI and Metaverse Innovations," this year's subject, brought together a renowned panel of senior HR practitioners to delve into the dynamic landscape of artificial intelligence (AI) and the metaverse in the field of HR. Fr. Donald D' Silva delivered the inaugural presentation, thanking the speakers for their time and kicking off the programme by fostering talks on AI, Metaverse, and virtual workspaces. He also thanked the committee members for their contributions to the KRONOS Conclave's success. The first panel discussion, titled "AI Ethics in HR: Striking the Balance," featured noteworthy speakers. Md. Rashid Jaffrey, Chief People Officer at Tata Steel Long Products, emphasised the importance of privacy and culture while adopting technology advances and data-driven decision-making in HR. Ramakrishna Vyamajala, CHRO of Home First, emphasised AI's impact on HR strategies, emphasising the importance of balancing existing talent with new recruitment. Ruchira Bhardwaj, COO of Kotak Life, discussed AI biases and the importance of collaboration and digital data protection. Abhishek Tiwari, Sr. VP HR, Tech Mahindra, discussed AI's role in talent acquisition, virtual offices, and performance management systems, emphasising personalised learning and tracking workforce trends. Neha Dixit, Simpl's VP of Human Resources, emphasised personalised training and the use of dark data for generating conclusions.

The speakers for the Second Panel Discussion, "Upskilling and Reskilling in the Metaverse Era," were as follows: Rupesh Tripathi, Partner HR, KPMG GS, discussed the usage of Metaverse for remote training in difficult circumstances, as well as the promise of AR/VR for personalised learning. Ruchi Dhawan Sharma, VP and Head of Human Resources at Indigo, spoke on the use of AR/VR in training customer support workers. XLRI PGDM (GM) Successfully Conducts its Digital Transformation Conclave ‘ReEnvision’

August 22, 2022: The Digital Transformation Conclave - ReEnvision, with the topic "The Digital First Mindset," was held on August 21 by the XLRI Conclave Committee. The Pitroda Group LLC Chairman and Guest of Honor Sam Pitroda officially opened the event. Sanjana Varshney, a Conclave Committee member, served as the event's host, with Sohrab Faraz and Vijayankesh Barier serving as co-hosts.

Sam Pitroda is a highly regarded development thinker, policymaker, innovator, and businessman who has worked in the telecom industry for more than 55 years. He is recognised with laying the groundwork for India's technological and telecommunications revolution in the 1980s. He stressed the relevance of digital revolution in remaking the world. He discussed the idea of hyper-connectivity, in which people are connected to one another on a global scale. He also spoke about big data, cyber security, and cloud computing. In order to increase productivity and bring about change in a hyper-connected society, he also discussed his attempts to redesign hyper-connectivity, which entails rethinking an ideal world, including institutions, the healthcare system, and the educational system.

The second Panel discussed “Leveraging Digital Transformation through AI and ML”. It comprised Jayant Prabhu, MD, Applied Intelligence, Accenture,  Naveen Athresh, Vice President, Product Management and Design, MatchMove India,  Sandesh Goel, MD, Eightfold.AI, Kashyap Kompella, CEO, RPA2AI Research and moderated by Dr Pratik Tarafdar, Faculty, Information Systems Area at XLRI Delhi NCR Campus.

The human element, which Jayant Prabhu introduced, has given the digital transformation a completely new dimension. He outlined three crucial AI features that have modernised the industry's technological, commercial, and human components. The effects of AI on the network of seamless communication it builds connecting businesses to the market and people, the human resistance it fosters to introduce flexibility, and the arrival of cutting-edge technologies that bring the processes of business and customers to life.

The great event came to a satisfying conclusion with a Vote of Thanks from the XLRI Conclave Committee, which summarised the entire session.

XLRI Sets Up Centre for Gender Equality and Inclusive Leadership at Delhi-NCR Campus

March 8, 2021: Keeping up with this year's Women's Day theme – Women in Leadership: Achieving an Egalitarian Future in the Covid-19 Community, the Xavier Institute of Management is setting up a Center for Gender Equality and Inclusive Leadership at its Delhi-NCR campus. The move comes as part of a deliberate push by the institute to make a positive impact on women's participation in economically profitable practices. The centre was inaugurated toady during the International Women’s Day celebrations at the school campus. The centre would aim at encouraging women's engagement in economic activities and help bring more balance to society.

Professor Shreyashi Chakraborty, an Assistant Professor at XLRI who specialises in organisational behaviour, will lead the new centre.

Inequalities, diversity recruitment strategies in Indian workplaces, and women's employment perspectives are among her core research concerns. In 2017, she was also awarded the Emerald Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award in HRM.

Placements: This year, the top 25% of the batch received an average salary package of 34.8 LPA. The overall average salary package offered is 25.08 LPA. A total of 370 offers were made for the batch with 358 students. The highest salary package offered more than 50 LPA. Master Card, Air BnB, DBS Bank, ZS Associates, Tata Electronics, Nykaa, and Rebel Foods were among the new recruiters this time.

There were excellent placements in our batch.

Placements: Campus placements are very organised here. Almost 99% of students of our batch were placed. The top recruiters were HUL, Godrej and Boyce, TCS, Godrej Agrovert and Adani. The highest salary package offered was 25 LPA, and the average salary package offered was 10 LPA. The lowest salary package offered was 8 LPA. The top roles offered were manager and management trainee. Summer and winter placements are compulsory for all students.
