Current Affairs became a fundamental part of any competitive exam preparation. The Current events of national and international importance became part of the General Awareness and General Studies syllabus applicable to various exams. Current affairs should be a part of the daily preparation plan because it is the most dynamic component of the preparation syllabus for all the exams. Today's current affairs became part of history tomorrow. The candidates are required to prepare current affairs notes daily because of their changing nature. Sometimes the questions ask about the chronology of events, in that case, notes are very helpful. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has introduced General Awareness in the SSC CGL Tier 2 exam. Here also current affairs will play a major role.
The current affairs section is the largest section of competitive exam preparation. The candidates need to prepare for current events of national and international importance daily. The candidate should make provision for current affairs preparation in their study plan. This section can make or break the dream of qualifying in the exam because the rest all the section of general awareness seems tough to the majority of the candidates. Through Current Affairs, the candidates can score better in competition and ensure their selection.
Current Affairs topic connects the past with the present and future. Though Current Affairs only include current events, a deeper study requires the knowledge of the past of that issue and the future repercussions/solutions of the issue.
Why Current Affairs are important?
Current Affairs is important because it is asked in most of the exams. The candidates who are preparing for over one exam need to prepare Current Affairs daily. The Current Affairs questions form a major part of the question paper. Current Affairs also influence the other parts of General Awareness, General Studies and General Knowledge. The revision of various global facts is the event of international importance, but it settles as the fact in General Knowledge (GK). For example, before the global positioning system was employed to measure the height of the world’s highest mountain peak, Mt. Everest, the height of the mountain was denoted as 8,848 metres. But after the GPS measured the height, it was suggested that the proper height of Mt. Everest is 8,848.86 (approx. 8,849) metres.
General Awareness, as asked in various exams, includes Current Affairs because General Awareness is a broader term and it also includes General Knowledge as its part. The Current Affairs also helps in preparing the General Awareness for various competitive exams.
Current Affairs questions are asked in all the major exams conducted for recruitment and admission purposes. The list of exams which ask the Current Affairs is IAS Exam, UPSC CAPF Exam, SBI PO, SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, SSC JE, SSC MTS, IBPS PO, NDA, CDS, MAT, CLAT, XAT and others.
