Note that the NIFT exam comprises the General Ability Test (GAT) and the Creative Ability Test (CAT). The GAT will be administered in a center-based mode, whereas the GAT will be held offline. The GAT is common for all programs, but only B.Des and M.Des candidates need to take the CAT written exam.

There are five participating institutes of NID DAT exam that offer the B.Des program.
These include: NID Ahmedabad NID Andhra Pradesh NID Haryana NID Madhya Pradesh NID Assam.
The seat intake for the B. Des stands at 425. Among the participating institutes, NID Ahmedabad has an intake of 125 seats, while the rest of the NIDs each has an intake of 75 seats. Note that seats are reserved for categories like General-EWS, OBC, SC, and ST categories.
Admission to these seats will be on the basis of NID DAT scores.
Note that the next edition of the NID DAT exam, or NID DAT 2025, will be conducted tentatively in December 2024.
The application form is expected to commence in September 2024.

A total of 18 National Institutes of Fashion Technologies will participate in the NIFT 2024 admission process. The participating institutes offer B. Des, M.Des B.FTech M.FTech and MFM courses. Admission to these courses offered by these institutes will be based on NIFT 2023 scores. The participating institutes of NIFT 2024 offer a combined intake of 5,215 seats. Of these, 4324 are All-India, 424 are state domicile, and 467 seats are reserved for NRI candidates.
The scores of the written exam will be used to shortlist candidates for the next admission round - Situation Test/Personal Interview (PI).
The final merit list of NIFT 2025 will be prepared considering the performance of the candidate in the written tests and the Situation Test/PI.

Update on NIFT 2025 entrance exam
The application forn for NIFT 2025 is open with regular fees from November 22 to January 6, 2025. With late fees, applications will be accepted till January 9, 2025. The candidate will also be given the option to edit the NIFT 2025 application form from January 10-12, 2025.
The admit cards for NIFT 2025 will be released tentatively in the 3rd week of January 2025.
Courses offered by NIFTs in India
NIFT is a renowned design college in the country that offers both undergraduate as well as postgraduate programs to aspirants. The most popular design program offered by NIFTs at the UG level is Bachelor of Design (BDes) and at the PG level is Master of Design (MDes). Mentioned below is the list of courses offered at NIFT.

The seat intake for the B. Des course through NID Entrance Exam is 425. For M.Des course, 347 seats are available for admission at NID campuses. Apart from this number, some seats are also reserved for overseas (supernumerary) candidates. Admission to the B. The Studio Test for the B. Des programme will be conducted from April 26 to May 4, 2025. The studio test will be conducted in the following six cities - Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Gandhinagar, Kolkata & Kurukshetra. The candidate will be given the option to select a test city before that. Candidates who have qualified DAT Prelims are eligible to appear in DAT Mains. On exam day, the candidate needs to bring with them the admit card and a valid photo id proof.
The application form for NID DAT 2025 is currently open from September 3 - December 3, 2024.

Yes, candidates seeking admission to the B. Des programme need to appear in both the CAT and GAT written exams. Based on the scores of the written exams, the candidates will next be shortlisted for a Situation Test. The final merit list will be prepared by considering the performance of the candidate in the written exams and Situation Test. The CAT exam carries 50% weightage, GAT carries 30% weightage, while the Situation Test carries 20% weightage. It is mandatory for candidates to appear in all the stages of the exam to be included in the merit list.

NIFT Fee Structure 2024
Candidates need to pay the NIFT fee every semester for the course in which they have applied for admission. Aspirants are informed that all NIFT UG courses have eight semesters whereas PG courses have four semesters. The fee to be paid by non-NRI candidates for all NIFT campuses for UG and PG courses is the same. Mentioned in the table below is the fee to be paid by candidates for the entire course.

Note that there are 18 NIFTs that will accept NIFT 2025 scores for admission purposes. These institutes are known as participating colleges.
However, in addition to the participating colleges, there are other private colleges that will also consider NIFT 2025 scores for admission to their UG and PG design courses.
One major difference is these institutes will not participate in the counseling process conducted by the National Institute of Fashion Technology. Further, these institutes may also accept scores of other popular entrance exams like NID, UCEED, etc.
