A Journey to my Bachelor Days at Panchayat College

1 min readUpdated on Oct 14, 2024 17:53 IST

I am Saraswat, a BSc Hons graduate from Panchayat College in the Bargarh district of Orissa. Some of my hobbies include playing cricket, writing poems, reading books, playing games, etc. I chose because I loved Physics. I chose this college because it is in our district and it has excellent reviews for this course also. My admission process was quite simple. You just need to register on a portal called SAMS, where you can put your preferences of the colleges with the course you want to pursue. Based on the marks obtained in Class 12, a merit list is released. If your name appears in the merit list, then, you are eligible to join the college.

I am very passionate about the Nanotechnology and Quantum Computing. I have also published a project titled ‘Advancement in the field of nanoparticle for Cancer detection and Photothermal Therapy-based treatment.’

Experience at Panchayat College

Honestly, my expectations from Panchayat College were very low, as this is a local government college. But, I was wrong. The college is very good and it helped me with many things. It helped me to improve my personality, my overall attitude, way of thinking and the curiosity to learn something new. In my three years of journey, I got the best set of faculty members in terms of experience and teaching style. All of them are very friendly and supportive.

Q:   Is it necessary for a candidate to attempt all questions in GATE?

A:

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. It is a national-level examination conducted for Master of Engineering (ME), Masters in Technology (M.Tech), and direct Ph.D. admissions to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other institutes/universities across India.

The GATE paper consists of a total of 65 questions. Check below for the GATE exam pattern. - The GATE Questions paper consists of two sections, namely General Aptitude (GA) (15 marks) and the subject-specific GATE paper (85 marks). - The General Aptitude (GA) section consists of 10 questions. 1 to 5 questions are worth 1 mark each, and the rest, 6 to 10, are worth 2 marks each. - The GATE paper subject-specific section consists of 55 questions, of which 1 to 25 are of 1 mark each and questions from 26 to 55 are of 2 marks each. - Here to be noted that, questions that are not attempted will result in zero marks. Therefore, wrong answers to multiple-choice questions (MCQs) will result in negative marking. For questions of the numerical answer type, there is no negative marking. Also, for MCQ questions, a wrong answer will result in a deduction of 1/3 mark for a 1-mark question and 2/3 mark for a 2-mark question. Apart from academics, I got the best set of friends in the college. We organised many functions, seminars, webinars, workshops in our department in the college. Also, we published our first ever departmental magazine named “ANWESHANAM- The Quest Begins”. We enjoy every fest organised in our college.

Aspirants will definitely feel good and they will learn many new things which will help them in their career building.
