Coronavirus: Ed-tech companies gains as schools, universities go online

As schools, colleges, universities and coaching centres witness a shut down after the coronavirus pandemic, educational technology companies are taking online education to the next level.

As schools, colleges, universities and coaching centres witness a shut down after the coronavirus pandemic, educational technology companies are taking online education to the next level. For entrance exams such as NEET and JEE, a number of students and professionals are signing up for online classes. Even school students are making the best of this social distancing phase. As an effect, a group of ed-tech players have seen a huge growth in new users. In March only, online users who have enrolled for courses on Cloud, DevOps, AI, cybersecurity, and data sciences have grown 15 per cent.

Inquiries at a famous Ed-tech firm have risen by 50 per cent in the last two weeks as against the prior two weeks. According to industry experts, although online learning was in a high-growth path, now it has got a new push on account of the coronavirus pandemic. According to Vamsi Krishna, CEO & Co-founder of a well-known Ed-tech firm, students from all walks of life had resorted to online learning in the wake of the fear of coronavirus. They are also avoiding travel to offline coaching centres. It is partnering with schools to help offer uninterrupted classes.

Ever since the pandemic, the company has witnessed a ten times growth in the number of users signing up. The growth has been seen across all school grades, with the maximum rise seen for JEE, NEET courses. The company has witnessed students sign up from all big cities including Chennai, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Patna, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. Apart from this, another famous Ed-tech firm has seen a 100 per cent month-on-month rise in the number of students attending its live classes.
