Coronavirus Lockdown: Jamia Milia Islamia starts online yoga classes
The Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI) has started taking online classes on home-based physical activities, yoga, and mindfulness training by a qualified professional for the residents of its hostels.
To keep students active during their stay at home, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has started taking online classes on home-based physical activities, yoga, and mindfulness training by a qualified professional for the residents of its hostels.
As per the statement released by the JMI, it is currently holding the training sessions for residents of MMA Jauhar Hall, Boys Hostel. The varsity is planning to extend its classes for residents of other hostels too.
JMI held the first session on Tuesday using the Google Meet platform. The session will be held on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, between 5.00 pm to 5.30 pm.
Working on the suggestions given by Professor Najma Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor, JMI, Provost of the MMAJ Hall Professor Mohammad Shahid Khan, and wardens of hostels took the initiative to organize it.
Dr. Arif Mohammed of Department of Teacher's Training and Non-Formal Education, Faculty of Education, JMI is taking these sessions. He is a physical training expert and has very kindly agreed to train students.
Earlier, JMI held a two-day online faculty development programme. For taking part in the session, overall 200 faculty members out of about 450 had registered including directors of centres, heads of departments, deans, professors, associate, and assistant professors were invited for attending the sessions.
