HRD Ministry to constitute dedicated Research and Innovation Division

Union Human Resource Development Minister (HRD) Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has announced that the department is creating a dedicated 'Research and Innovation Division' to enhance the research in academic institutions across the country,
The department will be headed by the director who will coordinate for research work with various institutions that comes under the HRD Ministry.
“To boost research a dedicated division is being created in the ministry with the name of ‘Research and Innovation Division’. This division will be headed by a director who will be coordinating research work of various institutions coming under MHRD,” the Union HRD minister said.
Earlier, the ministry had announced that it has made changes in the Prime Minister Research Fellowship (PMRF). The changes have been done with an aim to enhance the number of students who want to pursue research in prestigious national institutes. The PMRF extends research facilities of IITs, IISc, IISERs, NITs, and central universities to master’s level students from any Indian institute.
With these new changes announced by the Ministry, candidates can now apply for the scholarships through both direct and lateral mode.
As per the new rule, those candidates who have completed M.Tech degree or are pursuing Ph.D., or are in the final year of bachelor's in science and technology stream can apply for the fellowship. The candidates should have at least 8.0 CGPA to be eligible to apply for PMRF. Candidates who have scored 650 or above in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) are also eligible to apply.
