GATE 2025: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee recently became the centre of online chatter after a Reddit user shared a screenshot of a GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) email with a bizarre salutation: “Dear Idli Chutney No Sambhar.” What started as a routine exam update quickly went viral, sparking amusement and confusion across the internet.

Later, IIT Roorkee clarified that the incident was caused by a technical glitch. An official statement issued by the institute states, “IIT Roorkee, organizing GATE 2025, acknowledges a technical glitch in incorrect email salutations received by a few applicants while bulk mailing. The issue was resolved immediately and emails with correct names were sent to these candidates. We regret the inconvenience caused."

‘Idli Chutney No Sambhar’ Greeting in GATE 2025 Email

The email sent a few days ago left students both amused and perplexed, leading to widespread online discussions. The odd phrase fueled speculation, with users debating whether it was a technical glitch, a prank, or an intentional act. One user took to X and tweeted, "Why hate Sambhar? Best part of the breakfast."

The incident gained traction after a Reddit user shared a screenshot, claiming the email was from the GATE organising team. While the email aimed to notify students about the availability of admit cards on the GOAPS portal, its unusual greeting left many scratching their heads.

GATE 2025 Admit Card

GATE admit card 2025 has been released and can be downloaded from the official website. This year, GATE 2025 will be conducted for a total of 30 test papers between February 1 and 16. Candidates can appear for one or two test papers only. The forenoon session exams will be held from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and the afternoon session exams will be conducted between 2.30 and 5.30 pm.
