IIT Goa gets its own campus, HRD Minister praises state government
Currently, IIT Goa is functioning from the campus of Goa Engineering College at Farmagudi in North Goa.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Goa finally got its own campus. According to the reports, the state government of Goa cleared the transfer of 10 lakh square metre of land for setting up the IIT campus in North Goa's Sattari taluka. While addressing the media, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant revealed that a small function held in Panaji on May 6 to officially transfer 10 lakh square metre of land at Guleli village in Sattari for setting up the IIT campus.
The state Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, in whose Assembly constituency the campus will be built, thanked the Chief Minister of the state for sanctioning the transfer of land to IIT Goa.
In another tweet, Mr Rane stated that the IIT campus, which can house at least 5,000 people, will help boost the economy of Sattari and surrounding areas.
Celebrating this historic moment, the premier technology institute said, “IIT Goa is thrilled to complete today the transfer of land for its permanent campus. We thank Govt. of India and Govt. of Goa, and people of Goa. Looking forward to establishing the permanent campus.”
The Goa CM also earned accolades from the Human Resource and Development Minister, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’. While congratulating IIT Goa and praising the CM of the state, the HRD Minister tweeted, “A huge thanks to the CM of Goa, @DrPramodPSawant for transferring over 10 lakh sq.m. land to IIT Goa. The contribution will help our nation prepare high-quality technical personnel and provide the best quality education to #youngIndia.”
