Key to clearing any entrance exam is consistency: Mansi Narula
Well, I am not here to tell you about any miraculous ways to live your life and achieve success. I’ll just try to tell you how it should be done ideally.
Educate yourself. Don't just become literate. When a question about something new pops up - Google it, watch movies and documentaries. When somethings interests you, read about it. Stimulate your brain. Don't just rely on your school system to tell you about your interests. Choose wisely. Adopt an enriching hobby and never stop practicing it.
Choose your area of interest to study happily in class 11th and 12th. Ask yourself what interests your brain, whether it is Coding, Botany, Zoology, Accounts or Humanities. I repeat, ask yourself. Make a plan and work accordingly. Keep knowing your interests and things that you are passionate about.
Nothing magical is going to make you clear an entrance exam. I am here to share what led me into this college. I am doing my BTech from one amongst the hundred Engineering colleges in Delhi NCR. Trust me, it’s not really a big deal to get admission into my college.
I would be happy to tell you how you can get into some good colleges of GGSIPU. My college does not come under the category of 'good colleges'.
The key to clearing any entrance exam is consistency. Be thorough with the basics. Stick to concepts. Try to understand things and don't rely on mugging up.
Coaching institutes surely help you clear an entrance exam. But remember- they only help.
You have to be hard working and consistent throughout your 11th-12th journey to clear the examinations well. I would like to add on some tips:
1. Have a study plan.
2. Use more books for numericals and fewer books for theory.
3. Read questions carefully. Understand and then answer.
4. Take small breaks after every two hours of studying and have adequate amount of sleep.
5. Learn to apply shortcuts.
6. Memorise formulae.
7. Have a hobby and never stop practicing it.
8. Exercise. Never skip on meals.
Make a habit of studying NCERT books from class 11th. Please try not to be an owl, i.e. don't try to study at night and sleep during the day. Our body’s biological clock wants us to sleep at night. It gets really disturbed if you try to alter it.
Coming specifically to IPUCET BTech examination, develop a clear understanding of the basics of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. If you are not preparing for IIT JEE from coaching institutes, then I would suggest you to first solve NCERT books and then take up a reference book of all those subjects and solve the questions. This will build your confidence. Solve previous years’ questions from Arihant books (they actually contain some good stuff).
Please don't think that the questions asked in entrance exams are some kind of brain teasers, because they are not. Keep your mind active and take it easy. Students scoring good ranks don't have superpowers.
I am currently doing my BTech from HMR Institute of Technology and Management in Electronics and Communication Engineering. HMRITM, being located at a place distant from Delhi, has transportation problems. So, unlike other colleges, you can't bunk college and enjoy the so-called 'college life'. We have college buses which pick us from the bus stops at around 7 in the morning and drop us at 5 pm in the evening. So yes, it’s more like a school. All I've learned here is that your semester exams don't matter.
I would surely tell you that paying more heed to marks and not to my skills is a mistake I committed. All that matters is your skills and how much you sharpen your brain. Internships, summer trainings, and projects make a big part of your college life.
To surprise a few, I would be honest to say that after I got into the technicalities of B.Tech, I realised this is not my cup of tea and I surely can't drive my life sitting in a cubicle and working on codes. I love making art, doing calligraphy, and getting my hands on canvas painting. So, I am planning to do masters in designing.
