Students' Speak: Essential pre-placement tips & tricks
By: Ruchika Kumari Chotrani
One of the very important factors that the employer looks for is the willingness to work. While asking about you they try to find out your interest and they check your stability so when you answer their question make it sure that the answers should be convincing and meaningful.
‘Placed’ - this word might mean the world, a dream, maybe the whole life for anyone. Every student whosoever is pursuing his/her graduation just wants to hear this word in their final semester as soon as possible.
Getting placed is really not an easy job because to reach up to that level you firstly need to sharp yourself, your skills. Skills that the companies demand, skills that every employer looks for, skills that will get you placed in your dream company.
But how will that happen? What we should do so that we can get the placed tag? The very first and simple step to start the preparation is that firstly, decide where you want to go, in which field you want to see yourself and in which field you can grow more. The next step of your preparation is to work on the skills that the company or the employer demands like some of the companies take a written test to check the normal basic IQ of the person like aptitude test, reasoning test, verbal test, etc.
Some have GD (group discussion) also and IT companies take coding test too. So one should, before sitting in the placement, really and seriously brush up all these things. And some of the companies directly go for the PI (Personal Interview) and HR (Human Resource) round. For PI and HR, the very basic question they ask is ‘Tell me about yourself’. This question is very prominent in these two rounds. The most important thing is that in PI and HR round the employers mostly check your confidence level so you should always answer confidently. For that students should write about themselves and practice in front of a mirror. This will boost your confidence.
One of the very important factors that the employer looks for is the willingness to work. While asking about you they try to find out your interest and they check your stability so when you answer their question make it sure that the answers should be convincing and meaningful.
Students think that the written tests which are conducted by the companies are tough but that’s not true. Aptitude, reasoning and verbal questions included in the test are of very basic level and mostly, some of the questions are the only formula based. And if any company takes the GD round then you should be sure that whatever you speak should be meaningful. During GDs also the employer not only notices your speaking and fluency but also how you represent yourself and how you speak in front of your peer, how you manage any group when people with different opinions are present there. Sometimes your GD performance also fixes your position for the final round.
