UPSC CAPF Written Exam
CAPF exam syllabus is like the UPSC IAS Syllabus, but different in magnitude. The candidates preparing for the IAS exam can easily clear the CAPF written exam. The number of candidates applying for the CAPF exam is around 4 to 5 Lakh. But the number of vacancies are around five hundred only. The candidate faces tough competition in the written phase as the cut off remains high because the number of vacancies is always less.

UPSC CAPF objective paper asks questions from all walks of life and the questions follow a typical UPSC exam pattern. The answer options are so designed that only the candidates having conceptual clarity can answer the questions. The objective questions are a mix of the questions from History, Geography, Economy, Indian Polity, Environment and Ecology, Science & Technology and current affairs.

There is a minimum qualifying mark in the conventional type question paper of the CAPF written exam. The candidate needs to score above the minimum marks prescribed by the UPSC to become eligible for the selection in the CAPF exam. The candidates need to score 10 per cent marks in the written exam (50 marks). If the candidate does not score such minimum marks, he will not be promoted to the next stage of the CAPF exam.
UPSC CAPF Medical/Physical Standard Test
Candidates need to score above the minimum qualifying marks to become eligible for the selection and above the cut off to remain in the competition for the selection. The qualified candidates are called for the Physical/medical standard test. The medical and physical examination of the candidates is conducted by the Central Reserve Police Forces (CRPF) regional headquarters.
The candidates need to qualify for the Medical and Physical Test. The qualified candidates’ names are sent to the UPSC and the selected candidates are called for the UPSC CAPF interview.

UPSC CAPF interview
The UPSC call the qualified candidates for the CAPF interview at the UPSC office in New Delhi. The chances of selection in the CAPF exam increases with the call for the interview because the probability of selection at the interview stage is around 50 per cent.
The candidates should prepare for the UPSC CAPF exam thoroughly so that they can breach the cutoff set by the commission and ensure their selection.
