Q: How are seats allocated to candidates during the NCHMCT JEE counseling process?
During the NCHMCT JEE counseling process, seats are allocated to candidates based on the following criteria:
- Candidates are ranked based on their performance in the NCHMCT JEE exam. Higher ranks are given priority during the seat allocation process.
- Choice Filling: After registering for counseling, candidates fill in their preferred courses and colleges. The choices made during this step significantly impact seat allocation.
- Seat Availability: The allocation is also dependent on the number of seats available in the chosen courses and colleges. If a preferred choice is fully booked, candidates may be allocated to their next preferred option.
- Category Reservations: Seats are reserved for various categories (e.g., SC, ST, OBC, EWS) as per government norms. This may affect the seat allocation for candidates from different categories.
- Multiple Rounds of Counseling: The counseling process may occur in several rounds. Candidates who do not receive a seat in the initial round may have another chance in subsequent rounds based on their rank and preferences.
- Fee Payment: Once a seat is allocated, candidates must pay the required admission fee to confirm their seat. Failure to do so may result in the seat being offered to another candidate.
- Reporting to Allotted College: After payment, candidates must report to the allotted college for further admission formalities.
These steps ensure a fair and systematic allocation of seats based on merit and candidate preferences. Always check the official NCHMCT website for any updates or specific details regarding the counseling process.
- Have all important documents: Aspirants must not forget to carry the NCHMCT JEE 2024 admit card to their exam hall. Without a valid admit card, aspirants will not be allowed to take the exam. Go through the list of other important documents to be carried to NCHMCT JEE 2024 exam centre.
- Follow all the guidelines of the online CBT exam: Follow all the instructions sent by NTA about the online proctored test on their registered email ids. Do not take the instructions lightly. Ensure the software and hardware requirements of the systems are met.
- Attempt exam section as per strength: Every student has some strong areas/ subjects. Keep this in mind while solving the NCHMCT JEE exam paper. Candidates do not need to solve the question paper in the sequence mentioned in the test paper. Rather, aspirants can solve questions from the subject they are good at, first. This will help build confidence level and also ensure that the candidate scores well in the exam.
- Solve the questions you know first: While attempting the NCHMCT JEE question paper, candidates are advised to leave any question for which they are not sure about the answer. This is helpful as candidates can then concentrate on the questions that they are certain about and minimise negative marking. Also, such an initiative will provide aspirants with a chance to solve the rest of the exam paper within the stipulated time and thereafter return to questions that they are not very confident of solving at a later stage.
- Read questions carefully: Aspirants are advised to carefully read questions in Reasoning & Logical Deduction, Numerical Ability & Analytical Aptitude, English language and Aptitude for Service Sector sections. Some questions in the exam can be a little tricky and candidates are advised to thoroughly go through the question asked before marking the answer on the computer.
- Follow time strategy: Aspirants are advised to strictly follow the time management strategy formulated by them while attempting questions in the exam. Thus, aspirants should fix some time duration to solve different sections of the exam and then stick to it. In NCHMCT JEE 2024 exam, aspirants have to solve 200 questions in 180 minutes duration. So, they need to be quick in solving questions.
- Keep marking scheme in mind: There is negative marking in NCHMCT JEE 2024. Candidates should keep this in mind at all times while solving questions in the exam. If they are confused regarding the solution to any question, they should refrain from answering that question. This will prove helpful in the long run as negative marking is what makes all the difference at the end of the day in the NCHMCT JEE exam. However, candidates should try an attempt as many questions as possible in the Aptitude for Service Sector section as even if they do not select the most appropriate answer they still will get some marks advantage. Primarily because there is graded marking in this section.
