The first IHM was established in the city of Mumbai in 1954 and as per records today there are 71 IHMs functional in the country. Out of this number, there are 21 Central Institutes of Hotel Management, 25 State Government Institutes of Hotel Management (SIHMs), one Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) and 24 Private Institutes of Hotel Management.

Courses offered by IHMs in India

Academics for BSc Hospitality & Hotel Administration and ten other courses of study offered at IHMs are run and regulated by the National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHMCT) which is an autonomous body that falls under the ambit of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

IHM Admission Process 2024

Admissions in different courses offered at IHMs is on the basis of separate eligibility and admission criteria.

NCHMCT JEE 2024 Application Process 

For admission to the BSc in Hospitality & Hotel Administration course, candidates will have to appear in the NCHMCT JEE 2024, for which they need to fill out the NCHMCT JEE application form 2024. Check out the steps to fill out the NCHMCT JEE 2024 application form below:

To fill out the NCHMCT JEE application form, follow these steps:

1. Visit the official website of NCHMCT JEE: https://nchm.gov.in/
2. Click on the "Application Form" link.
3. Click on the "New Registration" button.
4. Enter your basic details, such as your name, date of birth, contact information, and educational qualifications.
5. Create a password and confirm it.
6. Click on the "Submit" button.
7. You will be redirected to a login page. Enter your registration number and password to log in.
8. Fill out the remaining sections of the application form, including your personal details, academic details, and exam preferences.
9. Upload scanned copies of your recent passport-size photograph and signature in the prescribed format.
10. Pay the application fee online using a debit card, credit card, or net banking.
11. Review your application form carefully and click on the "Submit" button to finalize your submission.

Here are some additional points to keep in mind when filling out the NCHMCT JEE application form:

• Make sure to enter all of the information correctly and carefully. Any errors or discrepancies in your application may lead to your disqualification.
• Upload clear and recent scanned copies of your photograph and signature. The file size of each image should not exceed 100 KB.
• Pay the application fee online using a debit card, credit card, or net banking. The application fee is non-refundable.
• Keep a copy of your completed application form for your reference.

IHM Admissions in UG Courses 2024

Candidates are eligible to secure admission in BSc in Hospitality & Hotel Administration course offered at IHMs if they meet NCHMCT JEE cut off. Details of NCHMCT JEE 2024 exam are mentioned in the table below:

IHM Admissions in Diploma Courses 2024

Admission in Diploma courses offered at IHMs is strictly based on an aspirant’s merit in Class 12^th wherein he/she has studied English as one of the subjects. The application form for IHM admissions in Diploma courses is released on the website of the respective college in May and the course session starts in the month of July-August, every year.

Admission in PG diploma courses offered at IHMs is based on a candidate’s merit in Graduation.

IHM Admissions in Craftsmanship Courses 2024

Admission in Craftsmanship courses offered at IHMs is strictly based on an aspirant’s merit in Class 10^th wherein he/she has studied English as one of the subjects. The application form for IHM admissions in Craftsmanship courses is released on the website of the respective college in May and the course session starts in the month of July-August, every year. 

IHM Admissions in PG Courses 2024

Admissions in majority of the PG courses offered at IHMs is based on NCHM Joint Entrance Exam conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). NCHM JEE exam is conducted as a computer based test for MSc in Hospitality Administration course in June. The tentative schedule for this exam is as follows:

IHM Cutoffs 2024

NTA on behalf of IHM will release the category-wise opening and closing ranks for admission in each IHM. Candidates need to meet IHM cutoffs in order to be eligible for admission in hospitality courses offered at these hotel management colleges.
