Delhi University asks PG applicants to update vaccination status; UG applicants exempted
DU Admissions 2021: The Delhi University admission process for both Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) courses are underway. Delhi University has added a new column on its admission portal for students applying for PG programmes. The new column on vaccination status has been introduced where the students have to mention if they are vaccinated or not.
When asked about this move by the Delhi University, Rajeev Gupta, Chairperson (Admissions), Delhi University, told Shiksha.com, " The main aim is to create a database, so that once we allow the opening of campuses, we know the number of people on the campus who are vaccinated and not to stop anyone from visiting. It must be noted that the vaccination status of an applicant will not have any implication on his/her admissions. Currently, this is applicable to only those students who are applying for PG admission and the DU staff. All those students who are applying for UG courses have been exempted considering that they might not have turned 18 and government is yet to begin the vaccination for those who are under 18."
"However, the Undergraduate students will be asked to update their vaccination status whenever the government will start the drive for them," he added.
Delhi University Registration for PG and MPhil/PhD programmes began on July 26 and will end on August 21. For postgraduate (PG) courses, the Delhi University has received 1,35,833 registrations for around 20,000 seats till now, while for MPhil/PhD, the University has received 18,828 registrations. For UG courses, the University had opened its admission portal on August 1. The last date to register is August 31. Earlier, the university had announced that the first cut-off list will be out by September 8-9. However, now it is expected to be delayed considering that the CBSE improvement examination for Class 12th is scheduled from August 25 to September 15 and the Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET) will end on October 1.
"Delhi University Cut-Off list for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses are likely to be announced by September-end. There is no plan to extend the registration deadline for DU Admissions 2021 which ends August 31," Professor Gupta added.
