ICAT Design & Media College hosts Miraki inter-college fest in Chennai

ICAT – An exclusive college for Media & Design in Chennai hosted its inter college cultural fest on February 23, 2018 at ASI Convention Centre, Chepauk. The cultural event ‘Miraki’ gave college students a platform to showcase their talent and compete against the best colleges in Chennai. 

Miraki is an offshoot of the Greek word, Miraki which means “Doing anything with love, passion and a lot of soul”. This event was true to its name. All the event rights from dance, music, fashion show, war of radio jockeys, to even shoe painting, skull painting, solving mysteries, adapting tunes, photography and a host of other online events were done excellently by all the participants from over 40 colleges in the city. The event was attended by more than 1500 students. All the competitions revolved around the theme “Fantasy”.

Miraki was inaugurated by Director Ram, known for some of the finest movies like the National Award winning Thanga Meengal. He spoke about the importance of art and encouraged the students to become responsible artists in the future.

The Founder & CEO of ICAT Design & Media College, K Kumar, who has been a visionary in the field of Design & Media education over the last two decades and the two pillars of the IMAGE groups, R Madhan – Director Operations and V Anand, the Technical Director, who have been providing invaluable support to all the ventures of IMAGE groups were present during the event. The Dean Mrs Lakshmi Kumar and event organizers Rajan and Mrs Nagalakshmi were also present.

The other events were judged by famous personalities such as Shyam Sundar, Karthik Raja, Gayathri Shankar, Akshaya, Shakti Girish, Ganesh, Orlando Ambrose, Muralidharan Alagar, Shilpa Menon and Vivek.

The overall championship went to Stella Maris. Other colleges such as New college, Patrician college, MOP Vaishnav, Gurunanak college etc won the other events.

Miraki had News 7 as News Channel Partner, Shiksha.com as Online Media partner, NPIX as Media Partner and Zebronics as Digital Partner.

The event came to a grand close with a Fashion show by the host team of ICAT, followed by an intense competition between other colleges. The colourful show was attended by the Chief Guest of the evening Director Mohan Raja and the Guest of Honour Director Kiruthiga Udhyanidhi.  Mohan Raja interacted with the students and answered their queries related to movies and direction. He told them dedication and hard work pays off.  He showered praise to the staff and students of ICAT that the event was organised in a professional manner which he had not expected. The chief guests also took group photographs and selfies with the participants and the other students who had come to cheer up their friends.
