The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) has decided to cancel the IIMC Entrance Exam for the 2020-21 academic year due to the worsening situation in the country caused by the global pandemic known as COVID-19 (Coronavirus). IIMC has released a Press Release stating that the IIMC Entrance Exam has been cancelled for this year and is resorting to a new form of the admission process, which is to offer admission to various courses on the basis of marks secured in the qualifying examination, which will be followed by an online Personal Interview (PI).
A new and revised prospectus for each course has been released and students can check accordingly to the course applied for. Students who have applied now have to submit a written essay (200 words) or a 1 or 2-minute video, explaining a Statement of Purpose on why they want to join the course. The candidates can submit the written paragraph or video via email.
Earlier, IIMC had decided to bifurcate the entrance exam and Personal Interview (PI) for the regional language courses and conduct entrance exams for courses such as Advertising and Public Relations, Radio and Television Journalism, Hindi Journalism and English Journalism courses. However, there will be no entrance exam for any course.
IIMC states,” Accordingly, instead of the traditional mode of entrance test, that IIMC has been resorting to in the past, it has been decided to adopt an admission process for all the courses this year, in which more weightage is given to the marks scored by candidates in qualifying examinations, up to Graduation level, including Intermediate and Matriculation examinations, followed by an online interview to be conducted by IIMC. Accordingly, there will be No entrance test for any of the courses in IIMC, this year.”
