XIC OET 2017 Application Process

How to apply for XIC OET 2017

Xavier Institute of Communications (XIC) conducts online entrance exams (OETs) for admission to postgraduate diploma courses offered by it. XIC is a gateway for students aspiring to build their career in the field of mass communication.

All interested candidates can apply for XIC OET in the online mode in three steps – online registration, paying application fee online, and selecting exam centre. The detailed description of each step is given below.

Step 1: Online Registration

This includes filling the XIC OET registration form online. To do so candidates first need to login to the XIC registration website.

For this, candidates need to click the ‘Registration’ icon present on the official website of XIC. On clicking the link a new page will open on the screen. Click the link ‘click here’ present on the page and a new window will open. Click the, ‘Click Here to Register’ link present on the new window page and the application form for XIC OET registration will pop on the screen. Details that need to be filled in the XIC OET application form are as follows:

Personal information: This includes the candidate’s name, address, phone number, email ID, date of birth, and religion. Here, candidates also need to mention their proficiency in languages they know. For this, candidates need to mention the language they know in the space provided and tick any or all checkboxes (Read/ Write/ Speak). Candidates also need to specify their proficiency in computer programmes. For this, candidates need to tick any or all checkboxes [MS Office (Word / Excel / Power Point)/ Adobe Photoshop/ QuarkXpress].

Academic record: In this section, candidates need to specify their education details- Class 10th, 12th and graduation. The details include mentioning the year of passing, major subjects, percentage scored, and name of institution.

Media experience: Here, candidates first need to mention if they have worked in the media industry before by clicking on the checkbox, ‘Yes’ or ‘No’. If the candidate chooses ‘Yes’ then he/she needs to mention the details of their work under the column, ‘If you have, in what capacity?’ Also, they need to mention the details of the organisation they worked for (year of joining, employer’s name, and nature of work).

Portfolio information: Here, candidates who have a portfolio need to click on the checkbox ‘Yes’ and candidates not having a portfolio need to click on the checkbox ‘No’. Candidates clicking on the ‘Yes’ checkbox need to send their two presentations (maximum size 10 MB) to their respective course coordinator’s email ID:

Note: Prior to sending the email, candidates need to write their registration number in the ‘Subject’ of the email and the first line of the email body. Candidates also need to write their name in BOLD in the first line of the email body. Candidates will get their registration number after the application process for XIC OET is complete.

XIC OET source: This section requires candidates to mention the source through which they came to know about XIC.

Attestation: Under this section, candidates need to tick the checkbox which confirms that all information provided in the XIC OET application form is correct. Candidates also need to fill the date and their name.

Postgraduate diploma courses: Here, candidates need to select the course they are applying for.

Statement of purpose: This section requires candidates to write their views on what role does mass communication play to bring social change in not more than 200 words.

Note: Candidates are recommended to put enough thoughts while writing their statement of purpose (SOP). This is because if a candidate is selected for the personal interview round the SOP may be brought up for discussion.

Upload photograph: Candidates need to upload a scanned copy of their recent passport size photograph in jpg format.

After all details in the application form are filled, candidates need to click the ‘Register’ icon present at the bottom of the page.

Step 2: Paying Application Fee Online

On clicking the ‘Register’ icon candidates will be redirected to the payment gateway. Candidates can make the payment either by debit or credit card. The application fee for XIC OET is Rs 3000.

Step 3: Selection of Exam Centre

Once the application fee payment is made, candidates will be redirected to a new window where they need to select their preferred exam centre.

Once the exam centre is selected, candidates need to click the ‘Submit’ button and the application process for XIC OET will be complete.
