CAT 2018 Students Reaction & Review: The CAT 2018 exam was conducted successfully on November 25, 2018. Before appearing for the CAT exam, there was nervousness and anxiety among students. For some students, it was their first attempt while a few had attempted the CAT exam before also.
A few faces were relaxed and confident while there a few scared and nervous faces. To know about how the CAT exam went, Shiksha spoke to a few candidates. Some found the exam tough while for some it was a cakewalk. The CAT question paper did not see any surprises and students did not face any technical glitches. Overall, students found the Quant section difficult, DILR moderate and VA easy. Let us have a look at CAT 2018 student reaction & reviews.

Free CAT 2019 Mock Test 2According to Sanya, “The Quant section was difficult but I did pretty well in the section. It required a lot of practice. If you think you that with 3-4 months of practice, you will, be able to crack this section, then I would say that will be difficult. DILR was of moderate difficulty and Verbal was easy.” Sanya is pursuing Spanish Language from the Embassy and also is also completing her Masters’ in English.
Another candidate who appeared for the exam said, “Quant was the toughest section in CAT exam. Verbal Ability and DILR were easy. The CAT exam pattern was the same as that of the mock tests.”
Dipali, a professional at Ernst & Young also appeared for CAT 2018, and this is what she had to say about the exam, “This was my second CAT attempt and the Quant section was extremely difficult. In fact, seeing the past trends, Quant was really on a tougher side because from every topic they had put the miscellaneous or difficult questions. Verbal Ability was very easy. There were no technical glitches and the test went smooth. I’ll go for XAT and IIFT.
A candidate who appeared for CAT last year as well found Data Interpretation section toughest among all the sections and he said, Verbal Ability was the easiest of all. He appeared for CAT 2018 without coaching or mock test. Moreover, as per his last year's CAT experience, he said this year the paper was easier. He said, the computer-based test went smooth and he did not face any technical glitches.
Ropaali Awasthi, a final year BCom student too said that the Quant section was tough and Verbal Ability was a cakewalk for her. Talking about the mocks she said, "The VA section was easier than the mocks, but there were no changes or surprises in the actual CAT pattern as compared to the mock tests." She will also be appearing for XAT and SNAP.
Rohit Singh also spoke to Shiksha and said, “I started with English and there were around 6 passages. Reading Comprehension some were of 4 questions and some of 6 questions. The passages that had 4 questions were extremely easy and questions were doable – the answers could be seen right in front. Some of the questions of the passages that had 6 questions were based on interpretation like what the author wants to say or what’s the main output of the passage etc. There were some Parajumbles of sentences which were quite easy. English section was not that difficult; I would say it was easy to moderate. DILR was slightly moderate. One question at which I got stuck had 4 parts. I calculated the 1st, 2nd and 3rd part and by the time I reached the 4th part, I landed up at a wrong answer, and I had to re-calculate all of them- this became very time-consuming. Quant was all about fundamentals and was of moderate difficulty.”
