Check below the eligibility, fee and selection criteria for all IIM Bangalore courses:

Q:   Is only CAT score a factor for admission in IIMs?

A:
No, CAT (Common Admission Test) score is not the only factor considered for admission to the Indian Institutes of Management (Iims). While the CAT score is an important factor, it is just one of the several components that are evaluated in the selection process. The selection process for Iims typically involves several stages, which may include: CAT score: The first stage of the selection process is the CAT exam. Candidates who meet the cutoff score set by the IIMS are shortlisted for the next stage. Written Ability Test: The What is a written test that evaluates a candidate's ability to communicate effectively in written form. This stage tests a candidate's writing skills and analytical ability. Group Discussion GD In the GD stage, candidates are divided into groups and given a topic to discuss. This stage tests a candidate's ability to work in a team and communicate effectively. Personal Interview PI- The PI stage evaluates a candidate's overall personality, communication skills, work experience, academic background, and other factors. Academic Record: The academic record of a candidate is also an important factor considered in the selection process. This includes the candidate's academic performance in school and college, as well as any professional certifications and degrees. Overall, while CAT score is an important factor, it is just one of the components considered in the selection process for IIMs. Candidates are evaluated on multiple parameters, and the final selection is based on a combination of factors such as CAT score, academic record, work experience, What, GD and PI performance.

Q:   Which courses are offered by IIMs through CAT?

A:

CAT is the common entrance test for a range of post management courses offered by the Indian Institute of Management. The CAT score is accepted for admission to PGP, MBA, Executive MBA, Ph.D. and FPM courses.

Here is the list of courses offered by every IIM.

A:

More than 7,700 graduate management programs across the world use GMAT scores to give admission to aspirants. However, the GMAT score is not the only criterion for getting selected for a good MBA college. B-Schools usually look for candidates who have a holistic profile that has sound academic, managerial work experience, extracurricular activities, etc. Moreover, your admission documents (statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, resume, admission essays, etc.) also matter to a large extent. Hence, you need to be careful with your application documents also.

IIM Bangalore MBA Admission Process

IIM Bangalore admission criteria for MBA 2023-2025 batch was the same as that of 2022-24. There were no changes in the IIM Bangalore admission process, selection criteria and weightage of parameters. Last year, the minimum CAT cut-off required to be eligible for IIM Bangalore’s Written Ability test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) was 85 for General category students. For the final selection, the weightage allotted to the CAT score was 25 per cent and to PI was 30 per cent. This year, the WAT round was conducted and the weightage allotted to it was 10 points.

For the academic year 2024, however, the predictions are that IIM Bangalore might revamp its MBA admission criteria with significant changes by awarding higher weightage to CAT 2023 score. Stay tuned for more updates on these changes.

Q:   How can I get admission in IIM Bangalore?

A:

To be selected in IIM Bangalore, candidates are required to have a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% or an equivalent CGPA (45% for candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PwD category). IIM Bangalore admission 2024 is completely entrance-based. Admission to the flagship course, i.e., the MBA of IIM Bangalore, is based on a valid score in the CAT exam, followed by a personal interview (PI) and written ability test (What) round. IIM Bangalore offers admission to Indian students via CAT and international students via GMAT/GRE. IIM Bangalore conducts the IIM-B tests for admission to Executive MBA (EPGP) and PhD courses.

Q:   How can I get MBA in IIM Bangalore?

A:

To pursue an MBA at IIM Bangalore, you need to follow a rigorous admission process. Firstly, you must appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) and score competitively, as IIMs primarily consider CAT scores for shortlisting candidates. Once shortlisted, you'll undergo a Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI) as part of the selection process. IIM Bangalore evaluates candidates based on their academic performance, work experience, CAT score, and performance in the subsequent rounds. It's crucial to showcase leadership skills, analytical ability, and a strong academic and professional background. Stay updated with IIM Bangalore's official website for specific admission criteria, as they may evolve over time.

Q:   What is the selection process for IIM Bangalore MBA course and what is the minimum CAT score required?

A:

Candidates selected for MBA course based on their Class 10, Class 12, CAT qualifying and CAT final cutoff are called for further selection rounds, such as the Written Ability Test and Personal Interview. A commutative score is then calculated based on the performance of the candidates in all the aforementioned parameters. Similarly for other courses, applicants who meet the set eligibility need to go through the institute-specific selection process and get shortlisted. After completion of the selection rounds, a category-wise merit list is released based on the Final Composite Score. The provisional admission offers are made accordingly, adhering to the reservation norms. For IIM Bangalore admissions 2024, the Qualifying CAT cutoff is set at 85 Percentile. Students who are willing to take admission now must pay the admission fee and confirm their seat. Q:   Is a good GMAT score sufficient for admissions to the top MBA colleges?

A:

While a good GMAT score is crucial for admission to the best MBA programmes, it is not the only need. Along with the GMAT score, the admissions committee also takes into account the applicant's job history, undergraduate GPA, essays, letters of recommendation, and performance in the interview. Your application may be strengthened by a strong GMAT score, but it is insufficient on its own. Here are the details of the other criteria:

  • Work Experience: Admission committees look at your relevant experience. Your accomplishments, achievements, career progression, etc. are all taken into consideration.
  • Academic Background: Your academic background is extremely important for your profile.
  • Application Documents: Statement of Purpose, Letters of Recommendation, Admission Essays, etc. are extremely important for your selection to the top MBA colleges.

Although a good GMAT score displays your verbal, analytical, and quantitative skills, it is only one aspect of the jigsaw. Every top MBA programme has its unique set of aims and requirements for admission. Although certain schools may place a greater premium on GMAT scores than others, no school bases its admissions decisions purely on test results.

Q:   Which countries prefer a GMAT score for MBA admission?

A:

When it comes to the GMAT entrance exam, different countries and MBA colleges have different preferences. However, the GMAT entrance exam is a popular standardized exam that is accepted for MBA admission by more than 2,400 institutions. Some of the popular countries where GMAT is widely accepted for MBA and MIM admissions include the US, Canada, Australia, India, the UK, Singapore, Germany, Finland, Norway, etc. It is crucial to examine the unique prerequisites of each MBA programme you are considering to find out which admissions examinations are recognised and what score range is competitive. Additionally, candidates may decide to take practice exams or enrol in a GMAT prep course to increase their chances of passing the exam and getting accepted into the MBA programme of their choice.
