College life is the best: Shubham S. Kawathe
I was very much interested in computers and wanted to learn all about it. So I did a 3-year diploma in Computer Science under Mumbai board i.e. MSBTE after the class 10.
After completing the diploma, I got admission in second year of BTech as if you have done a diploma you can get direct admission into the second year of engineering programme.
Since, I had got direct admission, I did not have to appear in any Engineering entrance exam. My scores in diploma formed the basis of admission.
The route of my admission to NK Orchid College of Engineering and Technology went through DTE Maharashtra. I applied on the Maharashtra Government admission portal and filled the online form. Under this admission process, seats are allotted through Common Admission Process or CAP. In the first CAP round, we had to provide the choice of colleges in which we wanted to take the admission. After filling the preferences, candidates are shortlisted according to cut-off marks fixed by the participating colleges. I got shortlisted in the 1st round itself. I chose Computer Science Engineering as my branch.
My college, NK Orchid College of Engineering and Technology, has a good placement record and has a great faculty. All the teachers were highly experienced and knowledgeable. The college authorities are very strict about attendance, practical assignments, tests, etc. In short, my college has a very good reputation and campus has a very positive atmosphere. The staff members are very friendly and helpful.
Learnings and Insights
The college life is really the best time of life. It’s all about lot of friends and classmates, discovering new things about yourself and finding true friends. I have too many fond memories of laughs, fights, pranks, mass bunks etc. In short, I had a lot of fun. Also, since it was in my home town, I saved money on food and lodging. College life is the best life. So choose your college carefully.
Although I faced a very few campus placement interviews because I had decided to go for the master’s in MBA, my experience of it was good and I got to learn a lot of things.
While applying for a particular company do visit the company website and read all about it, the job role, job policies, everything. Please check the policy and then take the decision carefully.
Fix your career goal in class 10 itself. If not, you will end up choosing what others are doing and you will not be able to follow your dreams.
